Chapter 55
I'm standing in between Scott and Blake, and I know if I move an inch away, someone's going home with a broken nose or rib.
"What the fuck are you doing with this asshole?" Blake yells at the top of his lungs.
"He's my best friend, now buzz off!" I hiss.
"Best friend? Oh, okay. You always say that. I guess that's why he's allowed into your room when, I, your boyfriend, clearly isn't! I can't even get past your main door for crying out loud!" he snaps.
"What do you mean?" I ask him and he moves closer.
"Care to explain what Scott was doing in your room last night? Hmm? I heard you two laughing. You were laughing at his jokes, damn it!" he complains.
"He came to check on Snow!" I grit my teeth and roll my eyes at him. One by one people have started gathering around us.
"It's not snowing, Kyrah, stop messing around with my brain. I'm not stupid," Blake yells and Scott snorts.
Tyler laughs and Blake glares at him. He turns to Jim, who looks away and begins walking away fast. I don't understand whatever is going on between these two. One day they're friends, the next day Jim is running away from Blake.
"Anything funny, dumb ass?" Blake hisses at Tyler.
"Dude, your girlfriend has a dog named Snow and you didn't even know? I'm starting to think all you care about is yourself and controlling people," Tyler responds boldly.
Blake grabs his shirt and lifts him off the ground.
"One word from you and you'll be dead," Blake threatens and Tyler laughs hysterically. I'm confused.
"Let Tyler go." Scott steps in.
Oh boy!
"Or what? You're going to steal my girl? Not on my watch buddy," Blake growls. I'm starting to realize Scott isn't violent, maybe he just doesn't want want trouble. He's a decent man.
I'm rooted to the ground and my entire body is shaking. I can hear some passers-by whispering.
"Trouble in paradise."
And that annoys me.
"As she said, we're friends. I'm no threat to you unless you want me to. Now put Tyler down!" Scott thunders.
Tyler is now chuckling.
"I said put him down!" Scott pushes Blake and he nearly falls down. A crowd that has gathered gasps at the same time. "Kyrah, you two need to talk about this. Seems the more I stand here the more agitated he becomes. I'm going with Tyler. Be careful, okay?"
"Okay," my voice comes out a whisper and Scott and Tyler walk away.
"Yeah, you better walk away! She's mine! All mine, Scott Stone! Go fuck yourself!" Blake yells.
"Shut the fuck up!" I shove him with my elbow in his stomach. "Leave Scott out of this. Want to talk? Sure thing, but first you have to respect my friends. Stop being a jerk, Blake!" I can feel steam coming out of my ears.
He takes a step closer and I take two steps away, arms akimbo. When he sees this, he sighs and his face switches from pissed to worried.
"Look, I'm not here to argue again. I just want to know the truth, why was Scott Stone in your room last night?" he rakes his fingers through his hair.
"So it's you who was outside my window. The ladder. The flowers. Blake... my dog was hurt and my dad wasn't around, mom tried finding out what was up but it kept being aggressive. Scott was the only one who could help. Even my own dog didn't want me touching it. That's it." I finalize my words and I can see he's embarrassed. What in the world did he think I'd be doing with Scott in my room at night?
He looks around and notices the crowd.
"Buzz off, show's over!" he barks at them and they all run away. "I'm really sorry about the other day. It was Sabrina's fault. I shouldn't have allowed it. It started as a dare, plus she invited loads of people and lied there'd be a party at my place. What could I do? I just threw a party, I didn't expect you to be there. I'm really sorry, Kyrah. I really am. I care about you and I don't want to lose you, please. I'm sorry."
He's pouting and I can't resist him. I move closer and squint at him,
"You better make it up to me, Blake."
"I promise," he says, smirking and he pulls me into a hug, kisses me on the forehead and cups my face. "How about, Saturday?"
"Hmm... I'll be busy," I lie.
"Sunday, maybe?" he looks desperate if you ask me. "You could come with your friends and maybe we could solve this bad blood between me and them. I know Roxy and Scott don't like me-"
"Whoah! Whoah! So you want to hang out with with me and my friends? Since when?" I blink rapidly, licking my dry lips.
"Since now, Kyrah. I know you guys are very close and I also don't want to take you away from your friends like I used to. So... Is Sunday okay?"
"I'll think about it and ask the rest, then I'll let you know."
He pulls me into a tight hug and I realize that I had missed him. My insides tremble when he plants a warm kiss on my lips.
"Lecture starts in five minutes, let's go." He grins at me and I sure am happy that we've solved this like grown ups. I was hurting so much knowing that we were mad at each other.
The rest of the day and week pass by very fast and before I know it, it's Saturday.
****
"Hell no!" Roxy says through gritted teeth.
"Why? It's just dinner, plus after you guys have solved your hatred towards each other, you can go back home, please?" I beg and turn to Scott, "What do you say, Scott?"
"If Roxy's not going, I'm not going too. Where are we supposed to meet him?" he lifts an eyebrow.
"Rosewood restaurant," I reply without hesitation.
"The five star one?" Roxy's eyes narrow and I nod, "Why didn't you say so in the first place? I've never been there, this is an opportunity. Scott, we're going. Get your best suit ready for tomorrow. Kyrah, I'm going shopping for a dress."
Vic laughs.
"What's funny, Vic? This is an emergency!" Roxy glares at him.
"Sorry, girls are just complicated. Mom and Olivia used to be just like that whenever they were going out. Plus, since when did you start getting all excited about buying a dress?" Vic asks and Roxy shrugs.
At the mention of Olivia's name I remember something.
"Roxy, you were supposed to find your aunt after your mother..." my voice trails off.
"Yeah, we know. Vic called her a few days ago. She's still waiting, we'll go, as soon I'm ready." I nod at her "Alright! Let's go shopping, Kyrah. Because this girl, isn't going to Rosewood in black leather pants and boots." She pulls me out of the house and we leave for the mall.
