Chapter 128
Kyrah's POV
I spent the entire night fantasizing. It's an honor to be invited to such a unique event and what I know is, I'll definitely dress to kill. I'm actually anxious about it. Too bad Blake won't be coming. I don't think I'll ever tell him anything about the event.
I just talked to my parents a few minutes ago and I'm waiting for Scott to come over with Vic and Roxy, who just went to get something from Vic. When she comes back, she finds me in the living room watching TV, comfortably seated on the couch.
She's dragging her feet on the floor and halts in front of me and she pouts.
"I know we're supposed to go looking for the best attires in the world right now but... My dad just called, he wants us to check out a few houses, not too far from here. About ten minutes away," she says.
I raise my eyebrows.
"He got you a house already?" I smile broadly.
"Well, not exactly, but he wants us to choose one and then we can move in later. I told him we have all this planning we have to do for the upcoming event and he told me that we can move in next week, but he wants us to check them out today, he'll be busy in the afternoon. I hope you're not mad." She purses her lips.
I shake my head. "No, I'm not mad at all. You can go ahead, since I've been trying to reach Maeve but she's not picking up, she's probably busy." I shrug.
"Busy with Johnny obviously," she chuckles and I do so too.
"Yeah. Take your time. Your dad's the one who's organizing everything about the outfits anyway. Scott and I can wait for you at the mall if that's okay and I'll let Maeve know where to find me," I say as I lift my legs on to the couch.
"Great, uhm... The place we're supposed to find the best masquerade outfits isn't far from the mall. We'll find you there after we're done with the house hunt." She sounds excited.
I sigh and frown, my happy mood suddenly dropping. She notices and crosses her arms in front of her chest.
"Okay, what is it this time? Did Blake do something to you? Because I will kill him and throw his body at the beach for seagulls to consume," she says and doesn't smile.
"No, he didn't do anything. I just... I'm a little..." my words trail off and she sits next to me.
"What's wrong? You've got sadness written all over your face," she says.
"Yeah, I'm really sad you won't be living with us anymore and I'm really going to miss your company. Guess I'll be reminded often, by boredom, that I'm an only child," I say and I feel a sting across my heart. Roxy living here has been the best thing in my life. She's a good friend, who is always funny and I'll miss her.
"Hey, hey... Don't say that. It's not like I'm going out of town or something. It's just ten minutes away, Kyrah. Ten minutes!" she chuckles and I roll my eyes at her as I smile.
"Okay, I know. I'm overreacting, but still... I'll miss having those silly night conversations about high school, in my room." My shoulders drop.
"Kyrah, come on. What are sleep overs for? I'll be sleeping over and you can also sleep over at our house. Plus, I'll mostly spend more time over here, don't forget your mom's chicken is my weakness!" She smiles and I laugh.
"Okay then. Better get going now," I say as I hug her.
"Yeah, my dad keeps time, I don't want to keep him waiting. Call Wren and tell her where she'll find you," she says, leaving and I nod. Just as she opens the door, Scott is right outside, they exchange smiles and she leaves while Scott walks in. He cocks his head to the side and frowns.
"What now?" I ask, raising the TV remote control in my hand.
"Nothing serious... It's just that I haven't seen you look that comfortable in a while now. When is the last time you watched TV?" he asks, walks straight to where I am and sits inches away from me.
"To be honest, I don't even remember. But I'm glad I have the time to watch TV. It means life's getting better. Anyway, Roxy and Vic are meeting up with their dad, they'll find us at the mall. You ready to leave?" I ask and he nods.
I quickly find Snow and leave him in the back yard where I know he'll have fresh air when I'm gone. I also leave his bowl full of treats and another bowl of water. The yard is clear of any harmful tools and I trust that he'll be okay. As Scott and I walk out, I lock the door and follow him and for a moment he looks surprised.
With one eyebrow raised, he asks.
"Aren't you driving your car today?"
"Nope! I'm riding with you. Besides, I like your car alot and I'm also not in the mood to drive," I say, even though to me our cars are almost similar, I like his more.

When we were on our way to the mall, I called Wren and Maeve and they both said they were on their way. Scott and I have been sitting here for about fifteen minutes and the summer sun is getting hotter. I take off my jacket and place it on the wide table in front of me.
"It's too hot," I whine.
"Yeah. But I can get us some ice-cream if you want." Scott grins and I signal him to do as he pleases. "Yours will be... Vanilla, right?"
I'm amazed, he knows I like Vanilla ice-cream.
"How'd you know that?" I ask cocking my head to the side.
"I'm still learning what you like and don't like. Plus, I've never seen you eat anything strawberry flavored that much," he says. Quite a keen observer, he is.
He's learning. The funny thing is that it's only been months since he moved here last year before Christmas but everything that we've been through together feels like I've known him for years!
"Okay... Fine, but add a little bit of chocolate toppings for me," I say.
"Alright. I'll be right back."
When he leaves, I fish my phone out of my purse and I text Blake.
*Hey, babe? How are you holding up? I miss you*
He replies seconds later.
*Hey. I'm doing better, my parents are trying to sort things out right now. I'll let you know how it goes. Take care of yourself. Love you*
*I love you too*
