Chapter 119
I told Carla I'd be there in an hour, but... it's now one hour since I talked to her. How could I have lost track of time like that?
I dragged myself back to my room from Scott's house and lazily showered, enjoying the hot water which seemed to reduce my headache. Then spent much time trying to find the right thing to wear and oopsie! I lost track of time. What will I do?
Think!
"Uhm, I... it's really important, but I can call her and meet up with her for a few minutes and then be on my way," I tell dad.
Is that really a good idea? I don't know. First of all, I'd have to make sure she doesn't see me driving my car, because she knows I don't own one. I swore to never ever tell her. Only my friends know Blake bought me that car and I always park it outside Scott's house. But any moment I park it in front of my house, I'm sure mom probably assumes Scott put it there.
"Okay, why don't you call her before leaving?" he suggests.
Great idea, if I get to know where she is and what she's doing, I'll know what to do.
I call her and she picks up after the fourth ring.
"Honey! I haven't seen you all morning?" she sounds worried.
"I was still at Scott's. I'm fine, the party was amazing and Roxy loved it." I really don't want to explain more about the party or else I'll end up talking about the part where I was grinding up on Scott.
"Are you sure you're fine?" she asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Now, dad just told me you're both leaving tonight and I'm actually heading somewhere right now and I want to see you before tonight, where are you?"
"Wait, has he told you where we're going?" she asks and I grin as I look back at my dad.
"Nope!" I lie.
"Oh, okay. Well, I'm at our usual hairdresser, you can pass by. I'll be getting more groceries for you when my hair is done," she says.
"Thanks mom. I'm on my way," I say and hang up.
She made things easier for me, I know a spot where I can park my car and drive away without her seeing me. And things just got better, they won't be around tonight, so maybe I can sleep over at Blake's place. I'm sure he'll be happy. It's really odd how my parents treat me like a child, but I'm used to it anyway.
"Another thing I wanted to talk to you about is the annual award ceremony that the Mayor normally holds," he sighs.
"What about it?" I cock my head to the side and fold my arms on my chest.
"I've been invited but unfortunately, the date is in a few days, and I won't be around. So I talked to the Mayor, asked him if you and some of your friends could go on my behalf," dad says and my mouth forms an 'O'.
My eyes narrow due to excitement.
"What did he say?" I chime.
"He told me to send him a list of the people who will go on my behalf and then you'll be added to the main list. How about you text me everyone's names tomorrow?" dad asks and I jump excitedly.
"Oh my God! This is crazy! The last time I went to such an event, I loved everything! The celebrities, politicians, bands... Wait, is the theme still cowboy - cowgirl-ish?" I ask.
This particular event happens every year and people who get invited are special people and for the second time in my life, I'll be attending. There are different categories of people who get congratulated and awarded and I definitely want to be there!
"The theme changes every year. The Mayor hasn't informed me yet, but I'll let you know as soon as he does," dad says.
I squeal and hug him tightly.
"Thank you! I can't wait! I'll text you more than four names, just so you know," I say and he shrugs. "Gotta go now, bye." I run back into the house and straight to the front door.
