Chapter 50
In the car, I explain everything that just happened and I spot his muscles tense and his jaw tighten.
"Son of a... Look, I'm really sorry you had to see that and honestly it doesn't make any sense that he did that because you two argued because of Roxy. That's a lame excuse to cover up such a mistake," he turns on the driver's seat to face me, "I hate to see you like this... Crying." He catches a tear that's trickling its way down my cheek. His fingers feel warm on my cheek and I sigh heavily.
His gunmetal blue eyes hold an emotion that I just can't read.
"He better not hurt you again, because I swear to God if he does-"
"Just... Just let him be. Take me home, please," I beg and he obliges.
"Okay. Just be careful, Kyrah. I care about you more than you know," he says and starts driving.
On our way, I sit shotgun staring at my feet and a thought hits me. I turn to face Scott.
"Scott?" He glances at me for a second and then focuses on the road, "You're my best friend, I hope you won't tell my mom what Blake just did. She doesn't even know I have this car, from Blake, you know. Don't tell her anything... Please,"
"I would never tell on you, even if I wasn't your best friend. You know I..." his voice trails off and I notice his eyes are on the side mirror, "Someone's following us,"
My heart drops when I notice a car behind us, moving at our pace and when Scott pulls over, so does the black car.
"Is that... ?" I squint, turning on my seat to face the car behind us as a slender woman steps out of the car towards us. As she gets closer, walking while criss-crossing her legs like on a runway in her heels, it finally hits me.
"Cruella!" I hiss and Scott rolls his eyes.
"What's Sabrina doing out at this time of the night?" Scott asks and I ignore him when the person I hate most in the world stops right in front of Scott's door.
"Oh, how lovely to see you two around here," she chimes in that annoying pitchy voice that disgusts me. I might vomit.
"Go home, Sabrina," Scott hisses.
Her expression changes from a smiley one to an angry one and she turns to face me.
"I've been following you, Kyrah. I saw you at the party and you looked... Lost and heartbroken and..." she gasps holding a hand on to her open mouth "Did you get your heart broken? Silly girl, I told you to stay away from him but you didn't listen. You never listen, do you?" she shakes her head.
"Fuck off, Sabrina. I'm not in a position to argue with you right now. Just walk away and we'll leave," I say without looking at her. She chuckles and I groan.
"You scared little bitch-" Sabrina begins but Scott cuts her off.
"Enough!" he pushes the door open and Sabrina topples on her high heels, as she steps backwards, nearly falling down.
Before I know it, I'm out of the car too.
"I have had it with you, Sabrina!" he says through gritted teeth, pointing at her accusingly, "You're the cause of all the problems that happen to Kyrah."
"Scott, stop, let's just go." I grab his arm and he pulls away. He's angry. I know it. I can see it in his eyes and the way his veins are protruding on his temples.
"I'm not done yet," he says, not looking at me at all, "Whatever happens to her, affects our entire group of friends and we're just tired of your shitty childish behavior. Do you think we're in third grade or something? Grow up already!" he throws his hands in the air. Sabrina stands there quietly, she looks scared.
"Don't ever come near Kyrah and the rest of our friends and for sure don't you ever dare come to me with your silly, pathetic threats. God only knows what I'll do to your skinny, fragile body. Now, go away before I change my mind and skin you alive, right here!"
Sabrina gasps and she seems frozen and her feet can't move. Out of where a car pulls up in front of ours. Pulling over with a screeching sound.
"Blake?" I whisper as he comes out of the car, fuming in anger. I swear I can see smoke leaving through his ears.
"Blake! Thank God you're here," says the devil's daughter. Sabrina runs into his arms and he passes her as if he didn't even notice her coming his way.
"Blake, Scott was threatening me," she mutters childishly and I roll my eyes.
"Shut up, Sabrina!" he grunts and halts right in front of Scott. Both of them are tall, but Scott's height and body overpowers his.
There's a death-glare happening between the two, Blake's chest is moving upwards and downwards rapidly. His fists curved into balls at his sides. Their eyes are locked.
Scott looks more alert and his jaw is tight, he doesn't look at all scared. No one moves.
"I can't believe it!" Blake breaks the icy silence. His hands grabbing his hair tightly on his head as he faces me.
"We had an argument and less than an hour later you're with him? You ran into his arms, huh?" he curses under his breath. His anger must have made him sobber now.
"Blake, calm down. You already know he's my best friend," I counter.
"And you had to call him, of all people, to drive you home? Jesus! Kyrah, this is a full grown man we're talking about here. You could have at least called Roxy, not running into prince charming's arms here-"
"You're accusing me of running into Scott's arms, well where did I find you? Did you just forget you were with two bitches in your jacuzzi and I saw everything with my own eyes?! Scott came to drive me home. I didn't need your fucking help!" I snap at him.
The last word echos in the street.
Blake angrily moves a step towards me but Scott's super human figure stands in front of me.
"Touch her, and you'll regret it," Scott grunts.
"Blake, let's just go away. I'm cold," Sabrina whines from a distance.
"Go home, Sabrina!" he snaps, wincing at her words, but she doesn't listen, instead she walks over and starts pulling him away.
"Get your filthy hands off him!" I sneer, smacking her hands off Blake.
From behind us I can see a man in his pajamas staring at us at his front door and since I don't want the whole neighborhood to wake up just to witness our yelling ceremony, I pull an angry Scott away from Blake.
"Let's go. It's late," I say. Scott and I get into the car, leaving Sabrina and Blake arguing. From the side mirror I can see her trying to touch his shoulder but he brushes her hand away as he gets back into his car.
It's been one hell of a day!
