Chapter 192
Oyster is in the kitchen helping my mom out and Roxy and I go through whatever I bought for the gallery one by one.
We can hear my mom and Oyster conversing and my mom is laughing at some dry joke Oyster just made. Roxy rolls her eyes.
"Oh, I got new paint brushes too," I tell Roxy and she thanks me.
"You're a life saver. We still need to sit down and discuss the upcoming exhibition. There's alot we need to do and I just can't stop thinking about all the things that are ahead of us. Planning of the date, inviting guests and so much more. I think I'm going to have a headache," she whines and I pat her back.
"Relax, everything will turn out great. John Pierre is always ready to assist in any way and you know I've always got your back, sis. Anyway, is Vic passing by? It's been a long time since I saw him," I say thinking of the last time I actually saw Roxy's brother. About a week ago I guess.
Roxy sighs and shakes her head.
"I don't know if he'll pass by. He's been quite busy with school. He's actually so dedicated. Unlike us who attended almost every party," Roxy snorts and I smack her shoulder, "Ouch!"
"If we both weren't dedicated, we wouldn't have graduated, you know that, right?" I tell her and she nods.
"Yeah, yeah. I know," she says and switches the television on.
"Besides, studying Law is quite hectic from what I've heard people say. Vic can't afford to lose his chance again. Olivia had once taken the chance away from him and now that he's finally learning, I bet he's quite happy, and he won't let that opportunity slip away," I say as Snow hops onto my lap and begins licking my hands. He's clean and smells really good. Mom probably washed him since I was away since morning.
A few minutes later, my mom and Oyster walk out of the kitchen while laughing and I turn to look at them.
"Oh, Oyster, you are such a good young man. Thank you so much for fixing things up in the kitchen," mom says as she fishes out twenty dollars from her back pocket and hands it to him but he declines.
"Uhm, no, thank you Mrs. Bailey, but I can't accept your money. I only did it for free," Oyster says with a smile on his face.
"Come on, just take the cash. You know you need it," mum insists but he still refuses to take the money.
"Enough of the back and forth," Roxy says as she stands up and snatches the note from my mom and shoves it into her shorts pocket and we all stare at her.
"What? He seems like he doesn't need it. But I do, so..." her words trail off and I chuckle a little.
"Thanks for your help, Oyster," I tell him and he nods.
"Anything for you, and your family," he says.
"How about you stay for dinner, Oyster?" mom asks and Roxy glares at me, her eyes almost popping out.
Before he replies, I speak first.
"Maybe some other day? We'll be quite busy tonight planning for the upcoming exhibition and we want everything to be perfectly in order. Unless you two will have dinner together with dad?" I ask and mom ponders for a moment and replies.
"Alright then, maybe he can come over another day," mom says and Roxy heaves a sigh of relief as she pats Snow's little head.
Roxy and I know that there won't be 'another day' so we just stare at each other holding back laughter.
When Oyster leaves, mom shuts the door and heads to the kitchen.
After two minutes, the doorbell rings and Roxy gets up to go answer as I am busy enjoying a bag of cheese and onion flavored chips.
"Sorry, I forgot my watch in the kitchen," Oyster says and Roxy let's him in. He walks straight to the kitchen, picks his watch and walks out as Roxy shuts the door and sits next to me on the couch.
"How about some Netflix? I've been trying to watch something all day but apparently, something just happens and I end up not watching anything ar all. Like the moment you showed up. Then right now Oyster just came back. I swear if that damn doorbell rings again, I'll lose it," she says through gritted teeth.
"Sorry about that. Find something nice. I think I'm also in the mood to watch a good movie," I say as I shove some chips into my mouth and prop my feet onto the couch.
Less than five minutes later, as we've just began watching a movie, the doorbell rings and Roxy snaps.
"Can't a girl get some fucking time to watch a movie in peace in this house? This is becoming annoying," she says in an angry low tone. "If it's Oyster again, tell him to go away," Roxy says and walks straight to the kitchen and I follow her. Because I also don't want to talk to Oyster. I have nothing to say to him.
The doorbell rings again while Roxy is sipping some juice while standing next to the fridge and I'm seated on top of the island with my huge bag of chips. Mom stares at us and stops wiping the plates.
"Isn't anyone going to get that?" she asks, all puzzled by our behavior.
"Nobody wants to talk to Oyster. That's if it's him ringing the door bell again," Roxy says and mom heads out to the front door to answer it.
We hear her talking to someone and then she comes back to the kitchen.
"Some lady named Bethany wants to talk to you," mom says while one of her brow furrows. So do mine.
"Bethany?" Roxy and I say simultaneously and we look at each other.
"Who's Bethany?" Roxy asks me and I shrug.
"I don't know. Let's go see who it is," I say and mom tells me that she's still at the door which is still not closed.
As I walk into the living room, my eyes dart to the slender, blonde standing at the door and my heart stops for a minute. Something deep within me is burning and my blood begins boiling.
"Hi," she says calmly.
Cruella is standing at my door step.
