Chapter 211
"Really?" he asks curiously. "Well I think both of you are my guardian angels. So, let me ask. How did you break up with the guy?" he asks.
"That night at the Masquerade ball, after we caused chaos all over the place, I told him I never wanted to see him. Of course he kept calling and texting but I never called or texted him back. I was completely broken. Too broken that I couldn't see myself being in love ever again. But you... you showed me the light. You took good care of me and put a smile back on my face so naturally that I'd never forget how wonderful it felt. That's when I realized that you'd been with me all that time yet I couldn't see it. I couldn't see that you loved me more than a friend and I realized it when it was too late." I exhale a shaky breath and stare outside the window, trying not to cry.
Seconds later, Scott's fingers sneak underneath my chin and he tilts my face towards him.
"Please don't be sad. I'm right here," he says with a smile on his face.
"Come on, lighten up. All has been said and we have done our part. Now all we have to do is wait for a miracle," Roxy says. She leans back on the seat and snaps her fingers.
"I have an idea. Why don't we spend the rest of the day at the beach? It's been ages since we had a little fun. I haven't been to the beach in a while now. What do you guys say?" Roxy asks.
"I'll only go if Kyrah goes," Scott says and I can't help but smile and I pull him into a hug.
"I love you," I find myself saying while my arms are around his neck.
"Can we go now? I'm starting to feel like a very heavy third wheel here," Roxy jokes and we all laugh.
"Okay. To the beach it is!" I say as I start the car and drive off moderately, telling Roxy how Kye reacted when we went to see him.

Roxy's POV
Kyrah is the true definition of determination. She's been so focused on helping Scott that he actually gained some of his memories back. The rest of us have helped but I'd say she's done most of the work. She really deserves a miracle honestly.
Never have I ever seen her this dedicated in life. I mean, not even back in campus. She reminds me of my mother alot. My mother never gave up. She never seemed to lose hope no matter how hard life got back there in prison. She always acted strong even when her inner walls were crumbling down into tiny pieces.
I know very well that Kyrah is still hurting. Mostly because the most crucial part of all of this hasn't happened yet. And that's for Scott to remember the day of the accident. If only he did, we'd have a go-ahead on what to do and how we'd catch whoever caused that accident. I know it's been two bloody years of loneliness for her but... it's not too late to get justice.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Scott asks and I blink rapidly as I leave the deep thoughts I was having. He's looking at me from his seat and I realize we're already at the beach.
"The obvious. I just want all of this to be over," I say and he nods.
"Me too. But it's going to take a while I guess. I didn't feel triggered or anything," he says while looking at Kyrah.
"Your doctor said that it would take time so, just take it easy. Don't be hard on yourself. The famous Marie Forleo always says that everything is figureoutable, so we'll figure this out, one way or another. Now, ice-cream anyone?" Kyrah speaks and her words hit me hard.
"You know what? Let's go get that ice-cream and forget about our troubles for a while. Let's not talk about any of this. Come on, let's go. I'm buying one or two for everyone," I say and I open the door.
"Wait," Scott says and I close the door. "Maybe if you showed me a photo of him it would make a difference," Scott says.
"Roxy, I don't want to check his Instagram. Could you...?" Kyrah starts saying and I fish my phone out of my pocket and I search Blake's Instagram handle and I give Scott my phone. He takes his time to look at his photos then hands me back my phone.
"Great. Now you know what he looks like incase you see him in your dreams or something. Come on buddies, let's go have a good time," I say and we all leave the car.
A few minutes later after we've bought ice-cream and we're walking along the sandy beach as the waves keep slapping the shore and the seagulls yell loudly, Kyrah pauses and stares ahead at... nothing. Scott and I look at her and try to follow her line of sight. Scott even waves a hand in front of Kyrah's face.
"Earth to Kyrah. Where'd you go?" I ask as I pat her shoulder and she shakes her head and looks at both of us.
"We thought we lost you for a second. Are you okay?" Scott asks as he looks deep into her eyes.
Kyrah turns to him and smiles a very sad smile. Her tears are slowly welling up.
"I know we agreed not to talk about the sad stuff but, I just have to get this off my chest," she says and sniffles. "I'm sorry I never brought you to this side of the beach all this time. It just never crossed my mind at all. That night... we had parked your truck right there," she points up ahead.
"That's the spot where you opened up to me and we kissed. A heavenly kiss that I will never forget no matter how old I get... Well, you both know how the rest of the story goes," she says and stares blankly into the ocean and sighs.
At this point I don't want to say anything.
"Let me remind you what we used to do back then," she says and turns to me and a small smile curves on her face and I know what she means.
"Last one in the water is a loser!" she yells and Scott and I realize she had taken her shoes off a long while ago and we both stare at her as she runs into the water happily.
"Does she always do that?" Scott asks while taking his boots off and I take my shoes off too.
"Both of you used to do that," I say, "Hey, look over there!" I point at nothing in particular and Scott falls for it and before he realizes what I've done, I'm already in the water.
"Seriously guys?" Scott laughs out loud.
"Come on, the water is warm," Kyrah calls him and once he's in the water, we both splash water on him.
"Oh, so that's how you want it, huh? Okay then," Scott says and splashes a huge amount of water on Kyrah and I making our hair wet. This continues for the next five minutes or so and we have to dry up in the sun before going home.
"Goodness, that was really fun. I wish everyone else was here. You know, the more, the merrier," I say as I put back my shoes on.
"Yeah. We should do this more often," Kyrah says while grinning like a loon.
"Definitely. I had an awesome time. It's the most fun I've had in years. Thanks to you two," Scott says and pulls us into a warm hug.
"Let's go home," Kyrah says as we walk towards her car.
"Vic will kill me once he knows how much fun we had without him," I say as I open the door of the car.
"Add Wren to the list too," Kyrah says once she enters the car.
"I know. But it was totally worth it. Can we get something to eat on our way home? I'm hungry," I say once my stomach growls like a dying whale.
"Are you always hungry?" Scott asks genuinely and Kyrah bursts out laughing as she drives from the parking lot.
"She's always hungry. Never make her angry any time she's hungry. She'll probably kill you," Kyrah jokes and I roll my eyes.
"Point taken," Scott chuckles.
"Enough of the jokes, step on it. My stomach feels like it's contracting. I... I think I can feel my back and stomach touching each other," I gasp and we all laugh together.
What a good day it has been. Just me and my good friends.
