Chapter 118

"Finally!" she says walking in with two boxes of pizza. My stomach growls violently. Scott closes the door and leans on it, arms folded in front of his chest making his muscles flex.
"I'm famished! Give me that." I leave the bed and notice I'm still in last night's outfit. I grab one box, open it up and I grab a slice, shoving it into my mouth.
"Mmh! Barbecue, tastes good," I say.
"Eat the entire pizza, since you missed breakfast–" Roxy says.
I drop the piece I was holding and it lands back on the box with a slight thump as I swallow quickly so as to speak.
"Wait, what? I missed breakfast? What time is it?" I ask looking in between Scott and Roxy, picking up the slice and taking another bite.
"It's almost 2p.m," Roxy says.
Her words nearly make me choke.
"Why didn't you wake me up, Scott?" I whine.
"I tried. You were as dead as a log," he says and Roxy laughs.
"Dead as a log," she repeats his words while shaking her head. "By the way, I was at your house and your mom kept complaining that your phone rang the whole night. Here..." she pulls my phone out of her jacket's pocket and I pick it. When I check the notifications, my head nearly explodes.
Seventeen missed calls. From Blake!
Fuck!
"Oh my– I forgot my phone in my room and forgot I was supposed to call Blake and now he called me seventeen times and I didn't know. He's probably thinking I ignored him and now he's probably angry at me. How could I have forgotten that? How? I'm so careless!" I stop to take a deep breath after talking faster than usual. My head still hurts.
"I think the party got you too excited that you forgot about the phone," Scott says, going back to his study desk.
I sigh heavily.
"I promised him I'd be at his place today. In the morning. Yet I'm still here, I haven't showered or done anything else," I complain.
"Relax, atleast you look less drunk right now. Better get going. Your mom went to get more groceries and your dad is in the backyard, he said he wanted to tell you something," Roxy says. Atleast my mom won't see her daughter struggling to walk because of a hangover.
"What about your dad?" I ask lazily.
"He left yesterday. We talked in the morning on the phone. He says he enjoyed your parents company. Anyway, eat up and go freshen up," she says and my phone rings. Startled, I pick it up and answer.
"Carla! Hey, I'm so, so sorry, I'll explain everything to him, I got caught up with something. But I'm on my way, I'll be there in an hour or so."
"Alright then. The paparazzi are back and I don't know if–" she says
"Don't worry, I can handle them," I say and hang up then continue eating.
When I'm at my house, finally, I get myself cleaned up and looking fresh then I decide to go to the backyard and find out what my dad has to say. I'm wearing a short, blue floral dress and white sneakers and the bracelet Scott gave me is dangling on my right hand.
I pass through the kitchen and open the door to the backyard. Fresh air, combined with the smell of freshly dug soil and roses rushes up my nostrils and I pause to inhale the lovely smell. I really love mother nature. Dad is outside with yellow farm gloves on, black garden boots and he's in a black overall while holding pruning shears, kneeling next to some flowers, Snow is lying some inches next to him, sound asleep.
"Hey dad, you wanted to see me?" I walk and stop right next to him.
"Yeah," he says and stands up. "How was the party last night? Your mother kept worrying about you. You know... You're still her little girl." He shrugs and grins at me and I snort.
"I'm not so little anymore, but the party was awesome! We all had fun," I say.
"Good to know. Anyway, your mom went to get some groceries and more shopping. We won't be around for a week or two and the reason I wanted to talk to you is because... This time round I want to take your mother on a holiday, last time I took you so I don't know if you're okay with it." He raises his brows.
"Yeah sure, I'm fine with it, but what about work?" I ask.
"I'm on leave for a month, your mother's online work won't be interrupted by the trip," he says.
Okay, I'm going to have the house all to myself for a couple of weeks! I have never been alone for that long in this house and I'm super excited, plus my mom won't be around to baby me around.
"For how long did you say you're staying? And where are you guys going?" I smile at him broadly.
"I was thinking two weeks maybe but you know your mother, once she gets attached to a place, she never wants to leave," he says and I laugh at that, because it's true. "So just incase we decide to stay longer, we'll let you know. As for the place we're going, I don't know if I should tell you, it's kind of a surprise."
"Come on, dad, spill. I won't tell," I say I poke his shoulder.
"Okay. We'll be leaving tonight, going to Fernando de Noronha Island, in Brazil," he announces and my eyes bulge.
I gasp out loudly.
"Oh my God, she'll love it! Definitely, but why leave so soon?" I wonder.
I only see the place in pictures and videos, it's so beautiful!
"As I said, it's a surprise but your mom knows we're leaving tonight, she only doesn't know where to," he smiles as he places the shears on the ground.
"Alright then. I hope you two have fun out there, and send me photos. Anyway, I'm actually headed somewhere–"
"Wait, aren't you going to wait for your mother to come back so that you can say goodbye?" he asks and I suddenly feel pressured in a way that I can't explain.
