Chapter 217
He's stroking my hair slowly and kisses the top of my head and he waits till I am calm and quiet.
"Wait here for a sec," he says and kisses my lips. He walks to a part of the living room and walks back with a bouquet of red roses and hands them to me. I can't help but smile and pull him into a hug.
"They look so beautiful. Thank you so much," I say as I wink away a tear.
"Here, let me hold them for you," Roxy says and I turn around and hand her the flowers. When I turn back around to look at Scott, I find him kneeling on one knee and he's holding a cute little blue jewelry box. I gasp and my eyes bulge.
He rakes his fingers into his dark brown hair and licks his luscious lips as his gunmetal blue eyes bore into mine. There's just something about the way he looks at me. Like I am the only girl in the entire universe.
"Kyrah, I have been away from you for too long and I saw how damaged you looked when you realized that I couldn't remember you or anything about this place. A part of me is sad that you had to go through that all alone and I am really sorry. I am also grateful to you and the rest of my friends for supporting me and my family and I thank you mostly because you never gave up on me. I don't want to talk too much right now because I only have one question that I have to ask you because I just can't wait for another minute to pass without asking." He swallows dryly and clears his throat.
"Kyrah, will you be my girlfriend?" he asks and flips open the box, revealing a golden necklace with a heart shaped pendant.
I find myself squealing and screaming.
"Yes! Yes! YES! I'll be your girlfriend," I shout and everyone in the room cheers and Scott ascends and pulls me to him and we kiss again.
I swear every time we kiss, I can feel the energy, the static, the blood flowing quickly in my veins and even the quick rhythm of my heart beat. In his arms right now I feel safe, I feel like a Queen. Never have I ever felt this way in any other mans arms.
When we finally pull apart, I grin at him and he hugs me again. Then I hold my hair up and he helps me wear the necklace. It's so beautiful.
"Thank you... So you mean you guys knew about all of this?" I ask everyone else and they all smile back at me.
"It was hard keeping my mouth shut about it," Roxy says and I laugh.
"Same here. But everything was all planned out," Wren says and winks at me.
"No wonder you were all excited since morning. Who else knows about this?" I ask Scott and he grins at me.
"Our parents. I told them to lay low on it until I tell you. So yeah, now you have all of me and I have all of you," he says and I feel color creeping up my cheeks.
"I love you, Scott," I say as I cup his cheek.
"I love you, Kyrah," he coos and I squeak out of excitement as we hug for the umpteenth time.
After a moment of asking him a couple of questions, it finally hits me. The nightmare that he had. He said he saw us getting involved in an accident.
"Scott, that nightmare... Uhm, now that you remember everything, is there anything that might give us a clue on what exactly happened that night?" I ask and suddenly everyone goes on mute again.
I guess they know about it already.
"I saw the person in that vehicle, right before we veered off the road. The headlights from the oncoming truck revealed his face," Scott says and pauses for what seems like an eternity.
"Who? Who was it? Was it someone we know? Was it Tyler? Huh? Tell me, if it's Tyler, I'll strangle him with my bare hands," I say through my teeth as my fists curve into balls and I stomp my foot on the floor.
"It was Blake," he says.
His words hit me harder than a hurricane. Everything in my body shuts down and the only thing I can hear is a loud prolonged beep in my ears.
Beeeeeeeeppp!
I can see Scott's lips moving but I can't hear a thing he's saying. I am trying to process what he just said.
Blake. Blake was the one who tried to kill us. Out of all the people I suspected, he wasn't in the list. He never even crossed my mind.
"What?" I ask, confusion written all over my face.
"It was Blake who did it," Vic confirms it.
"How sure are you?" I ask Scott.
"I saw him and I know his vehicle very well. Plus, while I kept quiet about it this week, my dad and I were busy trying to find out what happened and we actually did," he says.
"But how?" I ask.
"You see, my dad did a little bit of investigating with the help of his friends from the FBI. Together they searched the area near the place of the accident and they spotted traffic cameras. And then they went through a process to find out if they could get a recording of the road on that particular day. It wasn't easy but they pulled some strings here and there and miraculously, they found one at the county toll road authority. They keep records of videos captured by the cameras," he says and heaves a sigh of relief.
"Go on, tell us, what did they see?" I ask anxiously.
"They saw exactly what happened and when they zoomed in on the other vehicle, they captured the registration plate and found out who the owner is and without a doubt, it was Blake Dawson. Dad took me there two days later and I saw the video with my own eyes. Plus I know Blake's cars very well and that, was definitely him. The reason why we don't have the video with us is because we want to file for an arrest and we need a lawyer to present that video to the judge in court," he says and I gasp.
