Chapter 99

Roxy's POV
I'm super busy on my phone chatting away with Kye. I miss him. So damn much! My mind and eyes are completely focused on my phone when Mrs. Bailey sits next to me on the couch, but I hardly notice until she clears her throat.
"Hey." I smile at her and she smiles back.
"I see you're abit busy on your phone," she says and I nod my head.
"Yeah. I'm just catching up with Kye."
She looks like she's about to ask me something and whatever it is, I know it's going to leave me in dilemma, because I know it's definitely about Kyrah.
"Oh, uhm... Can I bother you for a minute or two?" she asks.
"Sure," I reply her and I let Kye know that I'll text him back later.
If there's one thing I know about Sarah Bailey, she doesn't like lies and I know I'm about to lie my ass off on whatever she's going to ask. I don't like lying to her but as of now circumstances are forcing me to start thinking ahead and know which lie would fit what she'll ask. Sarah Bailey is one charming woman, very lovely with dark hair just like her daughter. She's the most welcoming and loving woman I know and I'll never be thankful enough that she's taking care of me and my brother.
"What's up?" I question.
"Obviously, it's about Kyrah. She's been awfully quiet these past few weeks and it's like someone turned her off completely. She's not the bubbly girl I know and as a mother, I can tell that something is wrong even if she won't say it. Tell me, is she pregnant?"
I cough. I did not see that coming.
"What? No! She's not!" I confirm and she stares at the ceiling as if thanking the heavens.
"Then what's the problem? She won't even help me in the kitchen, I'm sure you've noticed that," she points out.
"Well... I won't lie that she's fine–"
"Is it that bastard Blake?" she cuts me off. Her eyes seem to have a fire burning in them when she mentions Blake. Yeah I hate him too.
"No," I lie. Everything happened because of him.
"Oh." She's taken aback for a moment. "Okay, but please, get to talk to her, even though I know you'll end up cursing more than you'll give her advice, but... Just talk to her, okay?"
This woman knows me too well. Damn!
"Alright. I will," I assure her and the front door flies open and Kyrah walks in. She looks... pale?
When she spots us on the couch she halts and just stares at her mom who stares back. I'd better come up with something or else Mrs. Bailey will start her interrogation session.
"Err, Scott told me we should go over to his house, there's something he wants to show us. I was just waiting for you," I tell Kyrah while faking a smile.
She looks confused and I hurry to stand beside her and pull her towards the door.
"See you in a bit Mrs. Bailey," I say and slowly lock the door behind us.
Once we're on Scott's lawn, I turn to Kyrah.
"He saw me. At the mall–" Kyrah begins speaking but I cut her off unintentionally.
"Did he touch you?" I ask bitterly. Her cheeks turn pink and I know something happened. "Don't tell me you two kissed?"
"Yeah, but I backed off quickly," she says. Guilt smeared all over her face.
"Kissing is kissing, Kyrah, whether it lasted a second or ten minutes! You shouldn't have. I'm disappointed in you." I cross my arms in front of me.
"I'm sorry. It's just hard for me, you know." She frowns and glares at her shoes.
"I don't know how many times I'll have to warn you, but I won't continue talking about Blake, it can be exhausting, urgh!" I roll my eyes.
"You said Scott wanted us to..."
Huh! Change of topic... Well played, Kyrah. Well played.
"Oh, that..." I chuckle. "That was just a random lie. Your mum was already asking questions about you–"
She gasps.
"Did you tell her?" she asks, eyes wide.
"You know I wouldn't, but trust me, one day we won't be able to hide everything that's going on," I say and drag her into Scott's house.
Oddly, Vic isn't in his usual spot watching TV. He's actually not in the living room even, nor in the kitchen.
"Vic! Scott! Anybody home?" I call out and I hear a door from upstairs open, then Scott walks down the stairs. Black vest and black jeans is what he's wearing, and black headphones are hanging on his neck.
"Where's my brother? He's usually glued to that screen of yours." I point at the massive television.
Scott shrugs and smirks.
"I guess someone finally managed to pull him off the screen," he says, almost reaching the end of the staircase.
Ah! Right.
"Oh, uhm... He went to see Wren, obviously. It's better than what I've been doing all day." I shrug.
When he gets closer her gives me a hug and then turns to Kyrah. Then he frowns.
He always knows when something is wrong, but then again, Kyrah is so easy to read like a, b, c.
I watch as he studies her eyes and then hugs her, rubbing her back as she pouts and leans on his masculine chest.
"Whatever it is, don't let it go to your head, okay?" he tells her and she nods.
Ah these two are so adorable, I'm getting all teary watching them hug.
The front door opens and in, walks Vic and Wren, holding hands and I can't help but think; my sister-in-law is here.
"The more the merrier," I say and swiftly move to the couch and the rest find spots to sit. Oh lookie! I'm the fifth wheel today.
Great!
"Hey, Kyrah," Wren greets Kyrah.
"Hey, good to see you," she responds nonchalantly.
"She's a little emotional, but she'll be good. Anyway, you guys have any plans for the afternoon? I'm bored, like super bored, I could count rice, one grain at a time," I joke.
Kyrah bursts out laughing. Good. Atleast that'll change her mood.
"Nope! No plans for Wren and I," Vic says.
"No plans for me either, what about you Kyrah?" Scott speaks.
"No. I'm not going anywhere for the rest of the day," she says and leans on to Scott's shoulder.
"Ah, come on!" I aimlessly wave my hands in the air. "We can't just spend all day in here! I mean, look at you, all paired up and I'm the one who doesn't have a partner here," I complain.
I miss Kye.
"Your partner is right next door," Scott says and my eyes go wide.
"He's here? Is Kye really here?" I gasp.
"I said your partner. Not Kye," he chuckles.
"What are you talking about?" I frown.
"Snow. You two look so adorable together, you know," Scott says and the entire room is filled with loud laughter.
