Chapter 210
"Grab your phone, we're leaving." Are the words I tell Scott before shoving my phone into my small purse. In a minute we are out of the house and into my car. As he fastens his seat belt, he asks, "Can I know where we're going?"
"You'll find out when we get there," I say while avoiding direct eye contact. This is going to be crazy. I insert the keys into the ignition and the engine comes alive, roaring calmly and off we go. On our way, we pick Roxy from the gallery, and about forty five minutes later, I am driving into the last place on earth I wanted to be at right now. Blake's estate.
Beautiful, classy and fancy, well-designed houses are what catches anyone's eye first. The different colors from white to grey to brown and even cream. Then the well mowed green lawns that tend to be too green to be believable. It's like the chlorophyll their grass contains is rich too if you ask me because, damn, my dad and I have tried watering our lawn nearly every weekend but still it doesn't even get as green as the lawns from this rich side of the town. Then there's the flowers, wilting seems like a foreign thing to them. They are erecting from the ground proudly and spreading their petals elegantly, just like the people around here do. Every single little thing about them screams elegance.
This is the area where you'd find celebrities. Gated homes with tight security, well except for Blake's house. I've never seen any security guard around. This area itself smells like money and expensive shit. The cars that drive around here are ones that I only see in movies. I'm sure my car looks out of place around here.
"Oh memories, memories, memories," Roxy sighs, bringing me back to reality. I park my car two houses away from Blake's. I don't want to cause any drama or make him think that I am stalking him or anything like that.
"This place looks really posh. Why didn't you bring me here sooner? Who lives here?" Scott asks as he looks around at the houses and trees and flowers. I place my hands on the steering wheel and look straight ahead.
"I have been avoiding coming to this place for years. So much happened here and you were there. The reason I brought you here is because this is the last option I have to make you remember everything," I say and exhale loudly then I point at Blake's house up ahead.
"You see that house over there with the large gate with a gigantic letter D on it?" I ask and Scott spots the house.
"Yeah, I see it," he says then turns to stare at me. "Who lives there?"
"My ex boyfriend lives there. Well atleast that's what I know. I don't think he'd move out of his parents place. His name is Blake. Blake Dawson–" Roxy cuts me off.
"And he was such a prick. Correction, he still is!" Roxy speaks from the back seat. "The parties were lit though. Booze, Babes and Boys, the three B's that shouldn't miss in a party." I turn to look at her and she gestures me to go on.
"You see, Sabrina lives six houses from his. They've known each other for a very long time and bad stuff happened between them when they joined campus which led to her being jealous when Blake began flirting with me. Of course we ended up dating even though Sabrina kept warning me to stay away from him. I didn't listen to her. So she began teasing me, little by little, as time went by, I didn't let Blake go and Sabrina's way of punishing me got worse. She nearly killed me in a hospital, I remember telling you that," I say and turn to glance at Scott and I find him eyeing me observantly.
"Hold on, what exactly happened between them? I mean could it have been that bad? Were they even together?" he asks and folds his arms in front of him.
"Yes, at some point they were dating. You see, they once went to a party and got drunk. Blake ended up forcing himself onto Sabrina while she had passed out. Their parents found out and some odd agreement was made by Sabrina's parents and Blake's mom... well she's not his mom anymore, but that's a story for another day. So, Sabrina and Blake were to get married so that the Johnsons wouldn't destroy Blake's family by telling the world the truth. Plus, the Dawson's are stinking rich!"
Roxy butts in.
"Filthy rich, I tell you. They own the biggest wine processing company around," she says.
"And, the Johnsons were too greedy to think about their daughter's mental health and welfare. They wanted to gain something out of the agreement. Money was all they could see and not their daughter. Sabrina and Blake's friendship deteriorated with time, but she still knew that she'd marry him, so seeing him with other girls made her furious and jealous. She decided to get closer to Blake, which by the way, turned out so bad because she was forcing herself on to him," I continue narrating about Sabrina and Blake.
I can barely see anything that's in front of me. All I see are mini movie-like clips that are crossing my vision as I recall everything that comes out of my mouth.
"As for you and Blake, well, so much and so little happened. I don't even know how to explain what I just said," I say while throwing my arms aimlessly around. Roxy's hand pats my shoulder.
"I've got you, sis," she says and moves forward on the back seat such that she's now sticking her face in between my seat and Scott's.
"Okay, so here's what Kyrah means, Scott. You and Blake rarely talked back in campus except for times when you were defending Kyrah. Blake used to accuse Kyrah of sleeping with you... multiple times. Which in reality, was a big fat fucking lie. Kyrah would never cheat on anyone," Roxy says and Scott looks at her, then at me, then back at her.
"I understand, please continue," he nods his head.
"You warned him to stop hurting and breaking Kyrah's heart. But he kept on doing that. As much as it hurts me to say it, Kyrah was blindly 'in love' with him. She always forgave him even after one time she got stood up. You and I were also there and seeing her hurt like that made me hate that son of a scoundrel. Then, the day that Kyrah thought her 'man' was probably having an emotional breakdown or some shit, he was actually at the same event that we were attending. With who? No one else but the cruel Cruella herself. At the Masquerade ball. Long story short, shit went down that day. You broke Blake's nose and his ribs. I on the other hand worked on Sabrina together with Kyrah. It was kind of fun though," Roxy's last statement makes Scott's eyebrows shoot up his forehead and I let out a hearty laugh.
"Relax. We didn't get arrested that day. There's more about this place too," I say and tuck my hair behind my ear and lick my lips. Scott takes a sip of water from his water bottle and I continue.
"The first time I caught him red-handed, was inside his house. In his jacuzzi with half naked girls all over him. He was drunk and I was angry that he'd done that. Clearly, he wasn't expecting me to be there. It tore my heart into pieces, honestly. You comforted me till I got better. You always did so, any time that bastard broke my heart," I say and I take his hand in mine.
"She was the damsel in distress and you were always there to save her. You truly are her guardian angel, Scott," Roxy says and Scott chuckles.
