Chapter 24

Few minutes later, a call comes in and he punches the answer button on the steering wheel and a masculine voice pops up from the console.
"Son, how are you doing?" the person asks.
It's his dad. I turn to look at Scott who looks very calm as he replies, his eyes still on the road.
"Very good, sir," he responds.
"I will be landing a few weeks from now. I was hoping you'd pick me up at the airport?" he asks.
"Alright, I will, just let me know as soon as you arrive at the airport," Scott says.
"Okay, and son, I hope everything is fine, the house? Yourself?"
"Everything is well taken care of dad," he chuckles.
"That's good," his dad says.
"Uhm, dad I want you to talk to my best friend," Scott says while trying to hide a smile.
My eyes widen up and I shake my head, and mouth a huge NO but then...
"Oh, Kye? I heard he got injured," comes his dad's response.
"Well, yes, Kye got injured but I am talking about my new best friend. " He steals a glance at me and I swallow hard.
"Uhm... hello Mr. Stone," I say shyly.
What in the world does one get to say to a General? What do I say?
"Wow! Son, you never told me you had a female friend," I smile "What's your name young lady?" he asks.
"Kyrah Bailey, sir. I live next door," I had to add in the 'sir'. Scott uses it alot and I noticed he even calls his dad, sir.
"Great, can't wait to meet yah! Son, I gotta go, I have a meeting in ten minutes. Good bye Kyrah, bye son,"
"Okay sir, goodbye," Scott responds and hangs up the call.
Whoah! He sounds like a really cool dad. I mean, he seems so tough and all on TV but, from that call, I can tell that he'd be a great friend with my dad.
"Your dad sounds pretty cool," I say and Scott smiles at me as we pull up at the school parking lot.
"He is the best dad ever." Scott switches the engine off, takes off his seat belt and turns to look at me.
"Kyrah, I'm really sorry for what happened to you. I'm saying this now because I never got the chance to, since all you've been doing is staying quiet for an entire week. Which of course made me worry more about you," he opens up.
"Scott, I was still in shock and again, thanks for always being there for me." I take off my seat belt and pull him into a hug.
"Well look who it is... Scott and Kyrah,"
I jump from my seat and turn to spot Roxy.
Thank God it's her.
"You scared the crap out of me, jeez!" I say opening the door.
"I missed you babe," she pulls me into a hug as Scott closes his door. "Close your door and let's go grab lunch before class," Roxy says.
"Since when have been so happy about class? What happened while I was away?" I ask in shock. Roxy always complains about attending classes.
"Last week I was miserable without you. I had to sit next to Maeve and you know her very well-"
Scotts cuts Roxy off.
"Maeve kept asking the professor so many questions. Roxy was like, 'how in the world does a person ask so many questions?' The entire class laughed. It was hilarious!"
I laugh careful not hurt myself.
"Seems like I missed out," I say.
"But last week wasn't the same without you. Sabrina kept her eyes on the squad but she didn't make any move," Scott says.
"Good to know Cruella didn't harm my friends," I sigh.
"Cruella?" Roxy's eyes widen at me.
"Yeah, I call her that now," I say as I shrug my backpack into place.
"Oh yeah, Cruella... From the a hundred and one dalmatians." Scott face palms himselft at the realization.
"Cool nickname," Roxy laughs as we head towards the cafeteria seats.
Out of nowhere Blake appears and I hide my face with my hands. Roxy and Scott take seats on a different table. Closely watching.
Oh boy. Blake is right in front of me.
"Hey," he says.
"Hey Blake."
"I'm so sorry. I came to see you but your dad only allowed your friends in. What else could I do?" he complains with pouted lips that make me think of something I shouldn't be thinking about.
"Sorry. My parents get a bit strict at times. It's okay. I also wanted to talk to you about something-"
He cuts me off while taking a seat, his eyes sharply focused on mine.
"Anything. Tell me anything, I'm all ears," he leans forward.
He's in a black suit paired with a white shirt and a black tie.
Okaaay...
"What's with the outfit?" I ask, cocking my head to the side. He raises an eyebrow and smirks as he looks at himself, straightening his tie.
"Oh, this? I had a business meeting with someone very early in the morning. Now what did you want to tell me?" he quickly switches the topic.
"Oh, well, just so you know, I finally thought about what you said and..." my words trail off as I watch his reaction.
His eyes widen and he slightly lifts himself from his seat, his palms firmly placed on the brown cafeteria table.
"Calm down," I giggle and he sighs "It's a yes, I want to be more than a friend,"
He jumps up from his seat with a loud "Yes!" his fist in the air. He moves to my side and picks me up from my seat and twirls me around and my arms automatically cling to his neck.
I swear I spot Roxy and Scott staring and Scott looks away quickly.
As soon as Blake puts me down, the whole cafeteria pauses to look at us one last time and everyone goes on with their business.
"So, I know you're still not feeling well, but I saved that party for you. It never happened because I really wanted you to be there. It's happening this Friday, come, please?" he begs.
I can't believe it, the King of parties didn't throw a party last week because of me? Me? I'm confused and happy at the same time.
"Kyrah, you're just smiling, say something," Blake snaps me out of my thoughts.
I spare a glance at Scott and Roxy who are both busy on their phones, while eating at the same time, then I look back at Blake who is grinning extremely.
"Okay, I'll let you know if I'll be there,"
"Awesome babe! Uhm... Mind if I take you out for dinner tonight?" he pops an unexpected question.
I hesitate before answering him. Honestly I am not quite sure if I should be going out to dinner with Blake tonight, it's my first day outside after an entire week of being bedridden and I don't want to make my parents worried. Especially now that I think they don't trust him.
How could they lock him out and not tell me he came to visit?
