Chapter 206

A few minutes later, I can hear muffled slow music playing. People must be having a good time out there.
"Hey, how about we dance a little," Scott suggests and I shy away by looking at my feet and biting the inside of my cheeks.
"What about you? You need your crutch," I say and he chuckles.
"I don't need it that much. I can handle myself for a couple of minutes. So... shall we?" he asks and he stands up and places the crutch next to the wall. I stand up and walk straight into his warm arms and automatically, my head leans onto his chest.
My goodness! This feels so good.
His arm snakes its way around my waist and the other one is holding one of my hands as we sway from left to right like tree branches.
Being like this makes me happier than a Queen.
I don't know for how long we've been dancing but I surely get disappointed when someone opens the door. It's Wren.
"Hey guys. We've been looking for you everywhere," she says and I slowly let go of Scott.
"Sorry to interrupt," she says. "Almost everyone has left. Most of the art has been bought already. Vic and I will be leaving in a few."
"Alright then," I say and she leaves.
"I guess we should get going now. We both need to rest. I had a great time tonight," I say.
"Me too," he replies huskily.
"Come on, let's go home," I say as I hand him his crutch and we leave. Roxy was going to lock up the gallery so I don't bother looking for her.

Scott's POV
Kyrah and I are walking along a very narrow path. Our hands are entwined and she seems to be glowing with joy and her beautiful eyes sparkle every time she looks at me.
I ask her where she's going, but she says that it's meant to be a surprise, so she doesn't mention where were are headed. I choose to relax and follow her.
The more we walk, the darker it gets and I wonder for how long we are going to walk. The sky is plainly dark, no stars and no clouds. Only a large, circular, creepy-looking moon that makes the hair on the back of my neck erect. As time passes by, it begins getting windy. The howling wind makes me feel uncomfortable about all of this.
"Are you sure about where we're going?" I ask her, a frown plastered on my forehead. She suddenly stops and turns around to look at me. Her fear-striken face makes my heart skip a beat. She hugs herself, trying to keep herself warm but that doesn't work, since she's only covering herself with her arms. I take off my jacket and place it around her and she clutches it tightly around her body.
"I think we're lost," she says. Her teeth are chattering due to the cold weather at the moment. Her hair is being blown all over her face by the strong wind.
"I'm so sorry," she says and sobs and I hug her.
"We'll just go back the way we came from. Okay? Follow me," I say and I turn around only to see nothing but black, inky darkness. All the trees that we passed on our way have disappeared. Every lamp post too.
What the hell just happened?
My heart begins thumping hard against my chest and my palms are getting sweaty every second that passes by.
"Scott," Kyrah calls out to me, her voice is shaky. She's pointing at a spot where there is a street lamp that's on. We rush to get there. Right at the moment we set our feet below the light, the lights go off and the wind blows against us even harder, making us cling onto each other.
Then, a female voice begins chuckling. Seconds later, I can hear footsteps approaching us.
The next thing I know, someone pushes me away from Kyrah and I land on the ground. I groan from the pain of the impact.
Miraculously, the lights come back on. Every street lamp is now on and right in front of me is a slender woman with blonde hair and a dark outfit. Her hoodie is covering her face. I can't tell who she is but I have a feeling that I know her.
"Let Kyrah go!" I yell at her and leap back up on my feet, panting like a dog.
She doesn't say anything else but instead, she takes out a revolver and sticks it on to Kyrah's temple. Kyrah is now stiff as a board and beads of sweat are all over her forehead. She's struggling to breathe.
My entire body trembles and fear takes over me.
"Let her go!" I yell again and she lifts her head. Her eyes are filled with flames. I have never seen anything like it before, that I even find myself taking a step back.
She looks familiar. I try to reach out to her, begging her not to pull the trigger. My eyes never leaving hers.
"Please don't kill Kyrah. I need her in my life. Don't take her away from me," I say and the woman sighs and the least I expect happens. The flames in her eyes go out and she puts the gun on her forehead.
"No! Don't kill yourself!" I yell and the next thing I hear is the loud bang of a gun being fired.
She pulled the trigger and she's now lying on the ground. Kyrah and I run to each other. She's shaking like she's being electrocuted and her breathing is laboured. I tighten my arms around her and I kiss the top of her head.
"It's okay. It's okay. Let's try and find our way back," I say as soothingly as possible. I am sure she can hear my heart banging inside my chest like crazy.
When we walk towards the body of the woman. I see her face and it looks pale already. There's a bullet hole on her forehead and blood is oozing all around her head, forming a pool. When I bend down to look at her closely, I am caught unaware when her hand flies to my throat and begins choking me. From behind me Kyrah is screaming and I am struggling to get away from this woman's tight grip to no avail.
"Kyrah!" I yell and jump upwards as it dawns on me that I was having a nightmare.
"What the fuck!" I curse out loud as I switch on the lights. My entire body is covered up in sweat and I am breathing so loudly.
That woman...
I look around my dark bedroom as I try to join the dots and I pause immediately the moment an image of her pops up in my head.
"This is crazy," I say as I look at the alarm clock. It's only 5am in the morning. I'll stay awake till the sun comes up then rush over to tell Kyrah about it.
