Chapter 212

Scott's POV
It's pouring heavily outside and thunder is rumbling loudly and wildly and the night sky is as black as the devil's soul. Thick dark clouds are spread across the sky, too thick that you'd think the entire sky would collapse any moment. Lightning lits up the sky after every two minutes. The patter of the rain against the windows is soothing and I close my eyes tight and stretch my body on the long cozy couch.
Just when I'm drifting away into la-la land, I hear muffled noises outside. I open my eyes quickly and rush to the window to take a look at what that could be. When I peep through the curtains, I see someone outside in the rain. Lying on the extremely wet lawn.
Fear washes all over me when I realize who it is.
"Kyrah!" I scream my lungs out as I yank the damn door open and rush to her. The heavy droplets of the rain are slightly painful when they hit my skin. My entire body is frozen in the few seconds I take to get to her. My bare feet are touching the cold, wet and now muddy lawn but I pay no attention to any of that. I just need to get to her.
I find her lying on the wet lawn, she's dressed in a white night gown, her hair is stuck all over her pale face and she's shivering due to the cold outside. The wind is howling and trees are swaying from left to right in a crazy manner and the shadows of their branches appear on the lawn like grotesque creatures ready to pounce on us.
I quickly carry her in my arms and run back to the house, lay her on the couch and call out to her like a crazy person. I pat her cold cheeks but she's not responding. She's breathing but she isn't moving a single muscle.
"Kyrah, don't do this to me. Wake up! WAKE UP!" I find myself yelling as I hold her in my arms. Tiny droplets of the rain that drenched my hair are falling on to her face the more I look down at her. I leave the couch and grab my phone from the brown coffee table. I try calling her parents but no one is picking up. I try calling Roxy but her phone is surprisingly off.
"Fuck!" I curse out loud and smash the phone to the wall bitterly as I clench my fists and grit my teeth. I then rush back to her and kneel next to her.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to get your parents," I say and I plant a small kiss on her forehead. Seconds later I am back into the pouring rain, still barefoot, as I rush to Kyrah's house. My feet leave muddy footprints on the porch and I choose to ignore it as I bang the door like my entire life depends on it.
Silence.
"Is anybody home? Anyone? Mrs. Bailey?" I call out as loud as I can but no one answers, so I kick the door open and I walk inside. All the lights are off and clearly no one is home. I run back to my house and once my hand lands on the ice-cold doorknob, an unfamiliar feeling takes over me. When I open the door, all I can see is thick dark smoke and fire all over. I run through the smokey room and I realize that this is not my house. And I am in different clothes and I even have shoes on!
"What the– Where am I? Kyrah?" I call out as I begin coughing continuously. The heavy smoke makes it hard to breathe and it's stinging my eyes. As I look around, I find her lying at a corner on a bed and she's tied up. Without wasting time, I run to her and I rescue her without any hesitation. Once I am outside, I place her on the ground and collapse as I try to catch my breath. My eyes are closed but when I open them, I am not at the same place I was. We are now at a parking lot and Kyrah is arguing with a guy. I can't see him since his back is facing me.
I leap up and stomp my way to her, my fists ready to punch someone in the face, the rage I feel is so intense that my throat feels all clogged up. The moment I reach her, I grab the guy's shirt from behind and before he can turn around, he disappears into thin air and I am left holding on to his blue button down shirt.
Quickly, I back away as I throw the shirt to the ground, wondering what the fuck just happened. When I look up, Kyrah is nowhere to be seen. I run to the nearest building. Actually, the one and only building around here. As I pull the doors open, I find myself walking into a different place. The beach.
The warm wind is blowing against me, making my overgrown hair play around on my face. I look around and see her, lying on the sandy beach, looking like a model posing for a fashion magazine. Her hair is flowing gracefully down her back and her luscious lips look so inviting. Her thighs are like those of a goddess. Even Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty has nothing on her. I swallow dryly as I walk quickly to her.
"Kyrah. I don't know what's happening. You were lying down in the rain and then out of nowhere came a large fire and there you were and–" she cuts me off by placing a finger on my lips and I shut up.
"Relax. I'm fine. Come on, it's getting late, let's go home," she says and stands up, dusts herself off and grabs my arm and we walk to where a car is parked. Wait... that's my dad's truck.
What the hell is happening?!
My heart begins beating hard against my chest, threatening to break my ribcage soon. Once we're inside the car, Kyrah's hands cup my face and she kisses me so sweetly that I even forget how to breathe.
