Chapter 110

"We haven't used it yet, because we weren't sure if this was a scam or not," I inform him.
"Clever as always," he smiles. "Now you can use it. Anyway, formerly, this place was a small trailer park, known as Wolf Street, the people who I found here were helpless. Some were orphans and widows, some came back from jail and found their women and children had moved away. Others were street families and some were reformed criminals. I decided to gather them all up, and with the help of the firm, we raised money, bought more trailers for them and gave them a home. Bobby was among the first people who lived here. I bought the land myself and swore to protect these people who are now my family, most of them who had no criminal records joined the army, people like Boogie. The government knows we exist, so this is not an illegal place I created. In fact, the mayor provides our security, they aren't goons, Vic. They are what kept me sane. A large family of good people."
"Just like they are to me, a true family," I whisper. "This is all making sense now,"
"I built this house hoping that my family will reunite one day. As for the firm, I started it for you Vic. When you were a child, you always showed interest in my work. Remember how you used to cry so that I'd take you to work with me? That's what pushed me to start Rovic and since you never got to go to university, I'd be glad to take you and if you study law, I'll definitely have a spot waiting for you at the law firm, Vic." Dad's eyes twinkle with a softness I haven't seen in years.
Vic sighs, he's thinking. Biting his lower lip, his brows furrowed. His hands brushes over his face then he stares stright into dad's eyes.
"I'd definitely love to go to study law, I can study at Kyrah's campus, together with Wren," Vic says, his tone full of excitement.
"Uhm... I have no idea who Wren is." Dad raises his brows at Vic.
"Dad, we grew up. Wren Hudson is my girlfriend, we made it official a few days ago." Vic leans back on the couch and exhales heavily.
"And we got to know her when we were at the foster home. Plus... I have a boyfriend, his name is Kye Ripley. Seems like I know more of your friends than you know ours, dad."
"I'd be glad to meet them any day, any time. Just say when," dad says joyfully.
"Tonight, what do you think?" I chime.
"Roxy, honey, you know that we haven't solved our issues, I don't even know if both of you will allow me back into your lives," he says, curiosity quite clear in his eyes.
He's right.
I'm still mad that he left us but I'm mostly angry because of Olivia. It's true, we can't just pretend that we're a big happy family and act like nothing happened.
"Everything takes time, dad," Vic says and I'm surprised, he was breathing fire a few minutes ago and now he's doing the opposite. "We can't solve everything at a go, but we can do it one step at a time. We still have alot to talk about, one day isn't enough for all of that and you're still our dad whether we're together or not."
I nod in agreement.
"Yeah and like I said, we can start tonight, our friends are hosting a party for me since we didn't go back yesterday. I think you should come, get to know the people who we've been living with. Vic should get to know people around here too, baby steps right?" I purse my lips waiting for both of them to reply.
"I like the idea," dad says and a smile curves on my face.
"Fine by me," Vic says.
"Cool. I'll let Kyrah know we'll be headed there in the evening. I bet her dad will be there too, he's a nice man, hardly at home but he's very welcoming." I smile. "Anyway, how'd you get that... scar, on your face?" I frown.
He chuckles.
"Your old man got into a fight some years ago," he explains and I gasp.
"No way!" Vic and I respond in unison as he nods his head.
"Once a Trent, always a Trent," Vic says and dad winks at him.
"Great! Can we eat now? I'm famished!" I announce and dad laughs.
I sure missed that silly laugh, no doubt.
