Chapter 141

Scott's POV
I'm woken up by the sound of someone screaming. The sound is muffled by the heavy pouring rain. For a minute I sit there wondering if what I heard wasn't just in my imagination, until I hear another scream coming from outside and I rush towards the door and thrust it open and to my disbelief, I see Kyrah lying on the lawn as the rain pours down on her. My heart drops and so does my jaw. I rush to her. The rain has me drenched in seconds.
"Kyrah! What are you doing?" I ask her as I pick her up in my arms and rush back into the house. She doesn't say anything, instead, she closes her eyes and begins coughing and trembling as if she's being electrocuted. I push the door with my foot and it shuts itself.
"Kyrah, please, say something!" I beg as I lay her on the couch and I yell at Vic to wake up.
"Wake up, Vic! It's Kyrah..."
He wakes up startled and his eyes widen when he sees us both dripping wet.
"What happened?" he asks.
"She was lying outside in the rain," I say in a panicky voice. "Go get Roxy, quick!" I say and in less than two minutes he and Roxy are rushing downstairs.
"What the–" Roxy starts and turns to go back upstairs. "I'll go get her a change of clothes."
"I'll make her something warm to drink," Vic rushes to the kitchen.
I then pick Kyrah and place her on my lap and brush off the wet hair covering her ever-beautiful face.
"Kyrah, talk to me. Why did you go out into the rain? You scared me half to death. Please say something." For a moment I feel tears burning the back of my eyes and my throat dries up when she doesn't say a word. "Please," I beg and she opens her eyes halfway and she begins crying.
"Hush now. We're here for you" I cup her face as I carry her like a fragile child in my arms. "Please, don't ever do that again, you really scared me." I hug her and she weakly hugs me back.
Roxy comes back with clothes and a blanket.
"Kyrah, why did you do that to yourself? I didn't even hear you walk out," Roxy complains.
"I didn't hear her walk out too. I only heard her screaming and I rushed out," I say.
"Thank God you were here. Sometimes I think you're like her guardian angel," she says and I sigh. "Come on, help me get her to the guest room. I'll help her change. Where's Vic?"
"In the kitchen, making something to warm her up," I say.
"You're also drenched. You should also get something warm to wear," Roxy says.
"Don't worry about me, Kyrah's the one who's been lying in the rain for God knows how long," I say as I enter the guest room carrying Kyrah. Then I wait outside for Roxy to help Kyrah out and once they're done, Vic comes over with four large mugs of hot chocolate on a tray. I pick one and hand it to Kyrah. She's still trembling and I help her drink it.
"Thanks, Vic. Just what she likes whenever she feels low," Roxy tells Vic.
"I know you both too well," he says.
"Now, let's see if Kyrah's dad has something that can fit you, Scott. Maybe some sweatpants or something. I don't want you to go to your house even if it's just next door. It's raining cats and dogs, no one's going outside till it stops raining," Roxy orders and I agree.
Kyrah sips her drink as her eyes dig an invisible whole on the floor. She keeps sighing and sniffling while sitting on the bed.
"It's going to be okay. We'll all be here through this difficult time, with you. We all love you," I whisper and she nods.
She lays her head on my shoulder and my hands go around her body and I kiss her forehead.
"You'll be okay," I assure her.
