Chapter 69
I blow air out of my mouth, standing next to the table. Scott and Roxy are watching me closely as I pinch the bridge of my nose.
"So now Roxy and I have puzzles to solve. This is exhausting," I say as I sit back down and slam my palms on the table.
"Urgh! Tell me about it," Roxy complains, rolling her eyes. "Mine is even worse. I have no idea who 'S' is! If it hadn't gotten this far, I'd have thought Scott was pulling a prank on me."
Scott laughs and I join in.
"What? His name starts with an S. Both of his names start with an S. But it's not him, 'cause he definitely doesn't know my aunt, Olivia, so..." Roxy shrugs once she finishes talking.
"You know what, since you're here, come help me pack up. Scott doesn't need any packing to do," I say, pulling Roxy from her seat.
"It's been a while since I chilled in my apartment, I've been doing alot of cleaning up this week after studying," Scott says.
"You? Cleaning up?" Roxy blinks rapidly.
"Yeah, can't a man live in a clean place? My dad would never allow a single candy wrapper to land on the floor when I was a kid, I'd be dead before it hits the floor," Scott jokes.
I laugh hysterically, throwing my head behind.
"Kyrah!" I hear a familiar voice calling me.
I turn to find Blake standing behind me. He's in dark blue jeans, a white t-shirt, brown coat and black shoes.
My laughter fades out instantly when I notice his expression.
"Oh, hey Blake. It's been a while," I say as I blink slowly.
"Do you have a minute?" he purses his lips.
"Er, well I was going to do some packing but, sure," I say, pocketing my hands once I stand up.
"Not here," he says, his eyes moving to Scott who is busy finishing his soda.
"Let's go, Roxy," Scott tells Roxy who follows him reluctantly. She turns and looks at Blake. Points out two fingers to her eyes and then to Blake. Hence the message, "I'm watching you" is delivered.
Once they are out of earshot, I straighten myself up, head held high.
"Talk to me," I say.
"So now you're laughing at his jokes again, huh?" he crosses his arms in front of his chest, tapping his foot on the floor.
"Excuse me? Uhm... Is someone jealous?" I tease him, poking his arm.
"Come on, I know what I saw." He pouts.
"So now I can't laugh at anything any guy says? I'm not your prisoner, you know." I tilt my head to one side.
"You're my prisoner in love," he smirks and my cheeks flash red as he moves in closer, his arms snaking around my waist.
"Ooh boy, what are you up to this time? I know that look on your face," I state and he winks at me and kisses my lips lightly.
"I've missed your company and I want to spend some time with you. Come over to my place," he begs, his height towering over me and my lips go dry instantly.
"Blake I–"
"Please?" he begs again, biting his lip.
Damn! That's hot.
"But I'm going back home before midnight, okay?" I tell him and grins widely.
"Ofcourse, I'll pick you up and we'll go for lunch. Or... Just let me know once you're done packing and we can go," he pauses for a second, "Oh, I forgot, I saw your car, so there's no way you're going to leave it here–"
"Actually, I had left it home. Roxy drove it here. She's helping me pack, so I guess I'll be done by 1PM," I inform him and he has this look of disapproval that disappears within seconds.
"Alright, that's settled, I'll be waiting." He moves closer than ever and kisses my lips gently and my entire body goes into flames. "Love you."
"I love you too," I say and he winks at me as he spanks my ass and I blush, looking around to see if anyone noticed that.
Satisfied that everyone is minding their own business, I walk away. Back to my room.
As soon as I open the door, Maeve and Roxy are up in my business with questions.
"We know you're definitely going somewhere, where is it this time?" Roxy asks, "I'm almost done packing your stuff." She's folded most of my clothes and sheets.
My eyes move to one of my suitcases, very neatly arranged and I smile.
"Thanks for helping. Maeve are you done yet?" I ask and she raises a brow.
"Don't you dare try and change the subject. Where are you going?" she asks, pushing her glasses up her nose.
"Nowhere special. Just for lunch and then we'll hang out at his place," I reply, closing my closet.
"Are you sure? Because maybe he has a house in Hawaii. That guy is rich, he could own the entire campus if he wanted to," Roxy says and I shrug.
"Plus his place is not just 'nowhere special' as you call it. It's the Dawson's house for crying out loud!" Maeve states. "I've been there once with my ex boyfriend. His parties are out of this world. Wilder than any other parties. He once threw a high school rager for seniors and nearly half the town went there, it was insane!" Maeve explains and my jaw drops.
"Whoah! You went partying? Oh my goodness! I'd love to see you drunk, Maeve," Roxy chuckles and I swat her arm.
"Maybe he wants to make things appear normal for me, but honestly, even hanging out at his house isn't normal. Everything there is either pure gold or silver. Huge TV screens and an elevator! Nothing looks like that in my house," I say as I grab an empty suitcase and begin packing the clothes Roxy has folded.
"That's what money does. It buys you everything you want," Roxy adds in and I smirk at her.
"Speaking of money, a little bird told me you're filthy rich! How do you plan on spending your money?" Maeve asks, sitting on her bed and Roxy and I sit on my bed.
"I assume that little bird is Kyrah. For now, I'm not touching that money until I find out what the hell is going on," Roxy says. A sad look plastered on her face.
"Wow! You've really changed. The Roxy I knew would have already spent half a million already," Maeve teases.
We all laugh and Roxy shakes her head.
"I know, but some things really need a clear mind to avoid making stupid decisions. I'm only left with Vic now and making stupid decisions would only ruin our lives more. He's a grown up, yeah, but he's my baby brother. Whatever affects me, also affects him. If I'm happy, he's happy. There's no room for mistakes," Roxy says as she grabs a huge sweatshirt to fold it. "No way, is this Scott's sweatshirt? Girl you are nasty!" she jokes and I grab it and fold it carefully.
"Anyway, I may be rich, but I still have to be wise in order to keep myself and my brother out of trouble. I love him so much, I could take a bullet for him," Roxy says and sighs.
"Aw! You're so sweet." Maeve pouts and hugs Roxy, who hugs her back.
"Let's finish packing up and we can get on to other stuff," I suggest.
"Okay," Maeve says, leaving the bed and going to her closet. Roxy remains seated.
"Aren't you helping us finish?" I ask while holding a blue t-shirt.
"Oh, I just realized that millionaires don't pack stuff. People pack stuff for them, so..." Roxy jokes and I swat her arm with the t-shirt.
Maeve laughs and I chuckle.
"You're being silly," I say, throwing my black hoodie at her and she smiles and gets up to help me finish packing.
I just love Roxy. She's the best human on earth even though sometimes I don't understand her humor.
