Chapter 28
Finally, I find myself right outside Kye's room, and I knock three times without getting a reply, so I push the door and go in.
I am in shock when I find there's no one in bed. Did he get discharged? I don't even have his number.
Crap!
I curse myself for being so stupid. Coming to visit Kye, yet he hardly knows me.
"Hey," a deep voice startles me from behind and I turn around.
Hubba hubba! Come to momma!
Kye looks very fine, like extremely hot! I can't help but take a look at him all the way down to his torso, he's in a black vest and plain brown cargo shorts.
Fuck!
I think there's a whole damn zoo in my stomach right now.
"Oh, hey Kye. I thought you left... I mean, got discharged."
"Not yet. Roxy, was it?" he asks smiling brightly. His white teeth well arranged like little pearls in his mouth.
"Yes." I nod and move to let him in. He's now on one lofstrand crutch.
"I see now you're able to move in and out," I comment, closing the door.
He nods and tries to sit on the bed. I notice he's struggling to lift his injured leg onto the bed and I run to him like a little child does when they see their mother.
"Let me," I say, helping him carefully sit comfortably on his bed.
"Thanks... So, you came with Scott?" he questions and I smile shyly as I stare at the floor.
"Nope, I just thought I'd pass by and check up on you."
He turns his head to me and gestures me to sit on his bed.
"That's nice of you. Only you and Scott have come to visit, in fact, he was here a few days ago. We played chess. I only chose to be admitted at a civilian hospital since I kind of got tired of being around the army barracks. I needed a change of scenery," he informs me.
"That's interesting... I don't play chess though," I tell him.
He laughs at me and I shy off, then he moves in closer to me and I swear the temperature of the room rises when he sharply looks at me.
"So, how are you feeling," I change the subject very fast and move my eyes to his leg. He tells me that he's much better than the last time I saw him and that he'd be discharged soon.
He then offers to teach me how to play chess and about ten minutes into the game, a young lady in a very short, pink dress, six inch heels and a black purse walks in without knocking. Her hair is ebony black.
Her make up is well done and her fake lashes well positioned. For a moment I thought it was Sabrina, but she looks at me and I realise it's someone I don't know.
She wears a huge smile on her face as she walks in towards us on the bed.
Is she his girlfriend? I hope not.
Jesus! Please, I hope she's not.
'Calm down, you bitch!' I tell myself.
"Kye!" she calls out his name with concern and hugs him tightly. Rubbing his hair roughly after kissing his forehead. Kye rolls his eyes and smiles at her.
"Lilly... You're finally here. Thanks for coming," he says hugging her again.
I purse my lips and sit there quietly, blinking rapidly.
Akward!
Then I decide to clear my throat to get their attention.
"Oh, Lilly, meet Roxy, she's my new friend," he says and the young lady pulls me into a hug.
"Roxy, meet my big sister, Lilly."
Praise Jesus, my heart is singing halleluyah. Atleast she's not his girlfriend. I smile towards her.
"Nice to meet you," I say calmly.
"Nice to meet you too Roxy, I love your hair," she compliments while eyeing my dyed hair.
"Thanks."
After a couple of minutes of knowing each other, she begs to leave. She's quite a nice person, I judged her and that was wrong of me.
At around 10:00pm I let Kye know that I am about to head out and he whines.
"Why? I really enjoyed your company today, please stay," begs, his lips pouty.
"I can't..." but God knows I want to. "Maybe I'll come again soon." I move to hug him and he hugs me back. As he pulls back, our eyes lock and the fire that ignites in me is blazing hot. His eyes are full of joy. He licks his lips and my eyes go wide at that act.
So I stand up really quick.
"Er, I guess I'll see you later?" I start walking towards the door.
"Wait," he says and I turn on my heels to face him.
"Can I have your number, please?" he asks.
Roxy, this is your lucky day bitch, I tell myself as I tell him my number and he types it in his phone.
"Thanks for coming."
"No problem," I say, walking out with pride.
Stretching my leather jacket, I smile all the way down the elevator and out of the hospital compound.
"Indeed, today is my lucky day," I chuckle a little.
