Chapter 225

"Miss Kyrah, what was your relationship with my client at that particular time?" he asks and I nearly roll my eyes but Mrs. Allen saves me from responding to the idiot. He's asking stupid questions. Idiot Elliot.
"Objection, Your Honor!" she says, with a lot of confidence.
"Sustained," the Judge says and she continues speaking and Elliot sits down.
"During the first hearing, everything was made very clear that my client and the accused were in a relationship, but at the time of the accident, they had already broken up. Which leads to my question," she says and walks to stand in front of Blake. "Where were you during the night of the accident?"
Silence.
Blake is hesitating. His jaw is trembling and he's licking his dry lips. I bet a big lie is about to pop out of his mouth.
"My son was at home with his mother, just the two of them–" Max Dawson begins and stands up but the judge silences him.
"Silence in court, let the accused answer for himself," the Judge says, sending Blake's dad back on his seat. The air in the courtroom is thick with tension, not even a single person can dare cough or sneeze. It's so quiet that I swear I can hear my heart thundering in my chest. The only people talking are those that are allowed to.
So now everyone's eyes are on Blake, waiting for him to answer.
"I was at home with my mom and dad," he says and my jaw drops, Scott is shaking is head.
What a bloody little liar! And he just made his dad also look like a liar, why do they have two theories? But they're both lying anyway...
"Oh, okay. Mr. Blake Dawson, didn't we all just hear your father claim that you were home with your mother? And you claim that you were with both of them? Hmm... Not surprising at all. Who is lying and who is not?" she questions fiercely.
Mrs. Allen is now staring deep into Blake's soul. Intimidating him. Making him surrender and become weak. His Lawyer must have asked him to lie so that he could find a way to win the case but that definitely isn't working, I bet Blake is too nervous and in fear to even think of the correct answer.
"Objection!" Mr. Elliot ascends from his seat.
"Overruled!" Judge Bradshaw replies instantly. "The prosecutor may continue."
Most of Mr. Elliot's objections have been declined.
"Thank you, Your Honor. As I said earlier before the recess, I have proof that the accused is responsible for what happened to my clients. Allow me to show you and everyone else, proof, Your Honor," she speaks and waits for the Judge to respond.
"Go ahead," the Judge says and pushes his spectacles up his nose.
"Thank you, Your Honor. With me I have not just one evidence, but three," she says and pulls out a flash drive from her pocket and presents it to the Bailiff who plugs it in to a laptop and in seconds, the evidence is being displayed by a projector.
The first one being the video that captured the accident.
"This video was obtained from the county toll road authority, by one of my client's father. My client Scott Stone is the son of General Sylvester Stone. Now, as you have seen for yourself, Your Honor, one car hits another and then speeds off. Take a look at this screen grab," she pauses and a picture pops up, one that zooms in on both cars registration numbers.
"Your Honor, the vehicle that speeds off, has the same registration number plate as one of Blake Dawson's cars. Also, my client is sure enough that he got a glimpse of the one who was driving that certain vehicle. It was none other than Mr. Blake Dawson–"
"OBJECTION, YOUR HONOR!" Mr. Elliot yells and I roll my eyes.
"Overruled! Let the prosecutor finish her statement. Don't force me to kick you out of this court room Mr. Elliot," the Judge responds harshly and idiot Elliot sits down and begins biting his nails and gnashing his teeth.
"As I was saying... I have enough proof that it was the accused who actually committed the crime. The next photo is of the very same vehicle at a junk yard. My clients and I did alot of research and found out that the accused, dumped the vehicle an hour after the time of the accident, at a junkyard. The keeper at the junkyard informed us that the accused arrived, parked the vehicle and got out, then angrily began to hit it. Ten minutes later, he walked away without a word. The keeper is our witness and we also have a video of him next to the said vehicle."
Mrs. Allen is good at this. She's the best.
The video plays and we all get to see the same car with the same number plate at the junkyard, plus the keeper getting shown a picture of Blake and agreeing that he was the one who came with the car.
I turn my head to look at Blake who is looking down at his hands and I see a tear drop from his eye. His lower lip is trembling.
"The last evidence we have is a combination of a video and audio that was recorded and is full proof that the accused indeed, is guilty," she says and the entire room falls dead silent.
"The video begins with the accused walking into a bar and when we fast-forward it, we get to see the accused talking to a lady, over a drink. By now, he is intoxicated already. Let's have a listen." She stops speaking and every single word that Blake said on that night, to Melissa, is heard and we can as well see him on the video. Even the part where he mentioned our names wasn't left out and that's when the entire room is filled with loud gasps and murmurs.
