Chapter 29
Kyrah's POV
My date with Blake went very well. I'd say I had a really amazing time with him. We actually went back to his house and made out in his jacuzzi.
Later he drove me back home before midnight and now it's 2AM yet I can hardly get any sleep. My mind is busy replaying the moments I just had with Blake as my new boyfriend. I want to text him, but I know he is probably asleep.
I bite my lip when I recall his lips on mine and I sigh.
What can a person do when they're insomniac? I can't go downstairs to watch a movie or cook because I simply do not want to wake my parents. So I just lie there on my bed facing the ceiling when a text pops up, making my phone's screen light up. I switch the lights on.
For a moment I thought it's Blake, but when I grab my phone, it happens to be Roxy.
*'You up?'* she's asking, honestly, I am not surprised that she isn't asleep.
*'Yap! What's up?'* I type back.
*'Nothing, I just couldn't sleep'*
Just at that moment, a text pops up. It's Scott.
This is odd.
So I decide instead of typing to each one of them one text at a time, I could video call them.
When they both answer my video call, it looks so odd that we start laughing in unison, we've never done this before. We do have a group chat but we've just never thought of video calls.
"Why are you two awake at this time?" I question, lifting both eyebrows.
"Meh! I don't know, I just don't feel like it," Roxy responds, biting some chips.
"I was reading a novel. Lost track of time," Scott shrugs.
Roxy and I laugh at him.
"Whoah, seems like we have ourselves a male version of Maeve," Roxy chuckles.
"I haven't talked to her in a while, do you think she's asleep?" I miss staying with my roommate, but at the moment, I am only safe at home.
"Why don't you try calling her now?" Scott says and I do so. It takes a while before she answers and the shock on all our three faces tells Maeve that we didn't expect to see what we're seeing.
"Hey guys," she answers in an all bubbly mood and right next to her, in bed, is her boyfriend, busy nibbling on her earlobe.
"Gross!" Roxy yells and Scott chortles.
"Where are your glasses, Maeve? You look kinda hot without them," I comment, ingnoring her man and she smiles.
"Forget about the glasses, can't you guys see there's a man in her bed!" Roxy pauses to gasp, "Shockers!"
We all laugh at that statement.
"Guys, come on, he's now my boyfriend. You guys should get to know him." The guy waves into the camera and Scott hangs up.
I slam myself on my bed laughing and dialing his number again and he whines after answering.
"Spare me the torture, hi Maeve, bye Maeve-"
"Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Slow down Scott, we're about to have some X-rated scenes here," I tease.
Scott rolls his eyes trying to hide his smile.
"What's your name?" I ask the guy and Maeve moves her phone closer to him.
"Call me John. Sugar here calls me Johnny," he says in a deep voice and kisses Maeve and she giggles.
"Sugar huh? You know what guys, that reminds me of something," Roxy says. She probably has something silly to say. I know it.
"I hope it's not what I am thinking," Scott hides a smile and Roxy begins singing away.
"Johnny, Johnny..."
"Yes papa," I join in, Scott rolls his eyes again.
"Eating sugar?" Roxy says winking and dancing while holding her phone. Then it hits me.
Eating sugar... Maeve is Johnny's sugar...
Good Lord!
"Okay, okay, we get it... Enough teasing," I say as I laugh heartily.
"We have class in the morning," Maeve says, and I nod. Roxy is back to eating her chips and Scott is now lying on his bed.
"Alright, see you guys later," Roxy hangs up, then Maeve.
"I'll pick you up as usual," Scott says, smiling at me.
"Cool," I respond and he hangs up.
I finally manage to get some sleep and by the time Scott comes over in the morning, I'm ready to leave. Snow follows me to the door and I pet him.
"Be a good dog," I say and Snow barks as if saying 'sure thing'. Mom and dad are still asleep so I leave quietly.
As we get closer to the school parking lot, a white car speeds up past us and parks on the only remaining space. Scott stops driving and grits his teeth in anger when a certain someone walks out of the white Cadillac and I curse under my breath.
Sabrina walks straight to us and leans next to Scott's side of the car. His window is open. She brushes her fingers along Scott's face and he looks away from her.
"Oh Scott, don't tell me you didn't miss me," she pouts and I can feel my anger boiling up when she holds his arm which is on the wheel.
"Stop touching him!" I writhe in anger. She pretends as if I am not even there, as if she didn't even hear me at all.
"Just walk away, Sabrina," Scott calmly speaks, not daring to look into her eyes and she giggles.
"I wanted you to be my Valentine's date since it's coming up in a week and it seems like you're not interested. Might as well bring Blake along," she mocks, looking at me with eyes full of pride.
"Good to see you again... Kyrah," she says and without any warning, Scott drives off, leaving Sabrina standing there in shock. We move to the farthest parking lot at the end of the school compound.
"I'm-" I start to talk but Scott cuts me off.
"Why is she all up in your business? I just don't understand her. What is her problem, really?" Scott growls.
"She's always telling me to stay away from Blake. Well, we're dating now and she-"
"What? You two are a thing now? You and Blake?" he questions, his face full of surprise. I should have told him and Roxy, and the rest of the guys that Blake and I made it official. Guess I forgot.
"Yeah, sorry I forgot to tell you guys," I say.
"Oh." Is all he says and takes out his keys from his ignition, stretches to my side and pulls his books and pen from the dashboard and walks out without a word.
