Chapter 35
"Breakfast is ready," he announces and Roxy bounces up from the bed and heads out, followed by him and a lazy me.
The bacon is well cooked and tastes very delicious accompanied with eggs and some sausages and buttered toast.
"This is so good, Scott," Roxy comments with a mouth full of bacon and Scott smiles. Before I get the chance to comment on his well cooked breakfast, I hear someone yelling from outside. It sounds like a woman yelling and I pause the chewing to listen.
"Guys, do you hear that?" Scott asks and we rush to the front door to take a peek. I gasp when I spot my mom yelling at Blake who is rubbing his temples in frustration. Why is he here? Of all places to look for me, he decided to come to our house. Where he knows my parents live. Where he knows he's not liked that much.
Okay then.
"He's looking for trouble." Roxy coughs and Scott gives her a weird look.
"He's already made Kyrah's mom aware that she's not in her hostel-" Roxy says.
"Let me out," I speak calmly, looking at Scott directly into his eyes. Wanting to yank him away from the door, but he doesn't move.
"Just let me handle this, okay?" I plead and he opens the door, Roxy shrugs and takes a bite of her sausage, they both follow me outside.

"Excuse me? It was your fault my daughter was attacked at that bloody, expensive hospital you took her to! Who even gave you the permission to take her there, you good-for-nothing brat?!" my mom yells.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry but I-" Blake starts but my mom doesn't have it and points her index finger at him.
"You listen to me, young man. Listen very carefully. Never come here ever again!!" she pokes his arm three times while she speaks.
"She was at my party and then she-"
"Your party? My daughter was with you? At a party? Jesus Christ!" My mom closes her eyes as if asking for strength from God not to hit Blake. They still haven't noticed us and I clear my throat to capture their attention.
"Mom."
Her eyes shoot open facing my direction and Blake does the same thing. As if a button had just been pressed, they both walk towards me with their arms wide open. Looking like robots, as they speak at the same time.
"Kyrah," they say in unison and my mother stops, and pushes Blake aside.
"The audacity! Don't even think about getting anywhere near my daughter, you prick!" she says through gritted teeth.
Roxy, Scott and I gasp.
My mom just called Blake a prick!
"Mom, calm down." I walk towards her and she looks confused. Roxy jumps in right in front of me and closes the gap.
"Mrs Bailey, good morning. We were just next door working on a project all night," she fake yawns and rubs her eyes, "You know we have to be careful with our G.P.A's. So we're working very hard," Roxy lies.
That's when I realize that I still reek of alcohol so I take a step back to where Scott is as Roxy engages my mom in a coversation, which she ignores.
"Kyrah, baby, you look so tired," mom says and I open my mouth to speak but Scott is faster than I am.
"Yeah, we haven't slept at all," he says, stealing a glance at Blake who is standing across the lawn with his arms across his chest. He looks drunk too.
"This drunk is just confused. He came in saying you were at a par... At his party and-"
"Mom, chill. I'm here, just go back to the house. I'll pass by when we're done with our project," I lie and turn to Blake and shake my head, heading back inside Scott's house.
What a morning!
My head hurts, still. I need some rest.
***
*'What the hell was that, babe?'*
Blake's text reads and I roll my eyes at my phone.
*'What the hell was that? Well whatever happened last night with Sabrina and your mom, what the hell was that?'* I reply fast.
*'I don't get it. Why were you at his house? Did you sleep with him after you left?'*
His reply stirs up my anger.
*'Excuse me? It's not like we'd have a threesome at his house! We're best friends for crying out loud, Blake. Why was Sabrina at your house? You're the one who has a lot of explaining to do, not me'*
He saw the three of us coming from Scott's house, so I stick to the assumption that the three of us were together last night.
Honestly, I hate arguing and so I switch my phone off after replying to him and I sit on the couch with my arms crossed.
Roxy had gone with my mom back at our house and now she's back with chicken in a large bowl.
"I know you're not a stress eater, but I brought chicken, now finish up your bacon and we'll dig into this chicken in a bit." She's actually very serious saying this but I find it very funny and I laugh. Scott joins in too.
"What? Good chicken, over thy heart broken, is the best way for thy smile to awaken. So hath the Shakespeare in me spoken," she remarks in a poetic tone.
"What the...? Never mind," I say grabbing a drumstick from the bowl and sinking my teeth into it. Then her phone rings.
"Hey Vic... Oh, okay... At what time?... Alright, Kyrah and I will be there to get you... Yeah... Sure thing." Then she hangs up.
She takes a bite off her piece of chicken and hands the bowl to Scott who picks a piece.
"Vic said he'll be arriving at midday," she says and Scott nods.
"This chicken is finger-licking good and sure, I'll drive you guys to get him. Wait, who's he again?" Scott responds while licking his fingers.
"Roxy's younger brother," I reply, grabbing another piece of chicken. "It's a long story, but to cut it short, he needs a place to stay for a while."
Roxy has these puppy eyes as she looks at Scott.
"As long as he's a good boy. He can stay here and watch this house while I'm at my apartment. That could work right?"
"That's a great idea. I promise, he's a good boy now," Roxy states and Scott blinks at her.
"Now?" Scott questions with both eyebrows raised.
"He's just a little annoying at times and he used to uhm, do drugs. He quit though," Roxy says, ignoring eye contact with any of us.
Scott and I have our eyes bulging wide open.
"Vic? Drugs? When? Roxy, you sure have a lot of explanation to do. You and Blake have been keeping things from me," I turn to Scott, "And what about you? Are you also hiding something from me?" He clears his throat, looks away and starts heading towards the kitchen.
Seems like it's going to be a really long day for me.
"Urgh! Somebody kill me now," I say Roxy's common words under my breath as I lean back on the couch.
"What did you say?" Roxy asks.
"Nothing. Just eat your chicken." And she obeys my words.
