Chapter 191

Two Years Later.
Kyrah's POV
It's been two long years since the day it happened. Everything and everyone has changed. We all had to move on with our lives even though my heart has never moved on. It never will.
We all graduated except for Vic and Wren who are still continuing with their studies. I was so happy to have finished my studies and gotten my degree but the truth is, I don't really feel like working in an office, probably writing and editing out manuscripts all day. So I'm still at the art gallery which as of now, belongs to Roxy.
John-Pierre started another art gallery out of town that required alot of attention and Roxy decided to buy the one in our town. We've both been working hard on it and we've been holding exhibitions and a massive number of people, especially foreigners, always buy the art that we display. We also have other professional artists that work with us and with John Pierre's help here and there, we've managed to make alot of money.
For the past two years, we take turns every weekend to dust and clean up Scott's house. It has been abandoned for years and we've never seen anybody come over there. At all.
Even though I had my sessions with a shrink, I doubt the hole deep inside me will ever be filled.
Holidays, birthdays and any other events passed me by just like normal days. Even Christmas was just an ordinary day for me.
"Stop spreading bad vibes, you Ebenezer Scrooge," Roxy once told me during last year's Christmas. Yeah, she compared me to Ebenezer Scrooge. That's how fast my love for holidays had gone down the drain.
Roxy dyed her hair back to its natural color, black. She said that the old her was gone and she didn't need to keep her hair blonde with pink ends. She actually looks more rogue with black hair, if you ask me. Her relationship with Kye is one that I admire alot. They've had fights over the years but they always sit down like adults and try to solve their issues. They both always find time for each other and that's what makes me happy for the two of them.

Right now as I am leaving the supermarket with a trolley full of art materials, I push it straight to the parking lot where my car is. Mom got it for me last year as a gift.
As I open the trunk, someone calls my name and I immediately turn around to see who it is. When my eyes land on him, I intensely roll my eyes.
"Hey, Kyrah. How are you doing?"
It's Oyster Grahams.
I met Oyster in campus during a senior project which he helped me out with. Even without being told, I have always known that he gets a little shy when he's around me. Roxy doesn't like him just because he wears khaki pants and cardigans all the time. She says he looks like a geek.
"Hey, Oyster. I'm great," I say as I begin putting the shopping bags in the trunk.
"Oh, allow me," he says and begins putting the bags into the trunk by himself.
"Thanks," I say as I tuck my hair behind my ear.
"You look slightly different from the last time I saw you," he says once he shuts the trunk.
"I'm surprised you noticed. Must be the hair," I say. For the last few years, I haven't had the confidence to wear my hair down. It's always tied up into a bun. Right now it's flowing down my shoulders and back and I even curled it this morning. I just feel... different today.
"Yeah, you look amazing." He grins at me and I smile at him and he begins to shy off by looking at his feet. There's thick and heavy awkwardness in the atmosphere, you could even cut it with a knife. Luckily my phone rings, and I fish it out of my pocket. It's mom calling.
"Hey, I'm on my way home, what can I get you?" I ask her.
"I don't need anything from the supermarket, but we do need a plumber right now, there's something wrong with the pipes below the kitchen sink," she says and groans.
"Alright, I'll see if I can find a plumber around. I'll be home soon," I say and hang up. Oyster is staring at me and I wave a hand in front of his face to capture his attention.
Was he day-dreaming while staring at me?
"Uhm... I've got to leave. My mom needs some plumbing services and I need to find a guy as soon as possible," I inform him politely. Even though I want to leave him here immediately.
"I can help you with that. If you don't mind that is. I've done some plumbing for my mom and she says I'm actually good at it," he boasts and I chuckle. "I'm sure your dad's got some equipment I can use."
"Okay, then hop in," I tell him and I walk to the drivers side and open the door, he opens the passenger door and we leave after we've fastened our seat belts.
The short journey home, no one says anything to the other.
Mom knows Oyster and she's a really huge fan of him, not the same way with Scott though. Oyster is quite a boring guy. He's nice but he just doesn't have the zing that all my friends have. I'm really, really grateful to him for helping me out with my senior project but hanging out with him isn't that exciting.
When I open the door and Roxy sees Oyster behind me, she says something under her breath that I'm sure Oyster doesn't catch.
"Oh my God, no. Not him again," Roxy says in a low tone just as mom pops out of the kitchen and when she sees Oyster she squeaks.
"Oyster! I didn't know you were coming over. Look at you, you look so handsome as always. It's been a while since you came by. How are you?" she asks him, her voice laced with enthusiasm. Oyster grins back at her and I spot Roxy rolling her eyes. She's seated on the couch with Snow.
"I'm doing great, Mrs. Bailey. I happened to bump into Kyrah at the supermarket's parking lot. She told me you needed help with some pipes?" he says and shrugs.
"Oh yes. Yes, come this way," mom says as she leads him into the kitchen.
"Why is he here?" Roxy stands up from the couch while whispering to me.
"Didn't you hear what he just said? He's here to help with the pipes, silly," I say as I walk back out to go get the art supplies and Roxy follows me outside.
"You could have just called a plumber instead." She stands behind me, arms akimbo.
"FYI, a plumber will charge some amount of cash, Oyster won't. Take a chill pill, babe," I tell Roxy.
"Remember the last time he 'passed by' and ruined our game night? The guy doesn't even know how to play charades for crying out loud! Who knows what he'll ruin tonight? Probably dinner," Roxy whines and I laugh at her.
The last time Oyster was here, he was dropping off a package I had asked him to pick for me. Wren made a mistake of inviting him in as we were playing board games.
"He didn't know how to play any board games. So he just sat there like some dumb mannequin. We even switched to charades, thinking that he'd tag along but he just... he just smiled back at us like everything was okay when he was just slowly annoying the shit out of us. Not to be rude or anything, but please, don't let him stay for dinner," Roxy begs as she helps me carry the shopping bags into the house.
"I'll try my best," I say and chuckle as we enter the house and she shuts the door.
