Chapter 90

"Mom, I'm so sorry," I say.
"Instead he hit the wall, and he was drunk, Kyrah. The rich boy was drunk! Didn't I tell you that boy was trouble? Well I showed him that I wasn't just an ordinary mom. He's an asshole, I don't understand what you even see in him. Are you after his money?" she questions and I gasp.
"No, mom, no! Look, everything is okay. We'll be back tomorrow. Forget about Blake." I can feel my blood boiling when I remember his mother's face.
Scott's eyes go wide when I mention Blake.
"Okay, honey. Stay safe and say hi to everyone," she says and hangs up and I sigh for the hundredth time.
"My mom said hi and... Blake was at our house and he almost hit her, he came drunk... again," I blow air out of my mouth.
"What?!" Scott's eyes go even wider.
"I know."
"What was he even doing there in the first place?" he asks.
"You see... Right before I got kidnapped, I was talking to him on the phone and he must have heard me scream for help," I explain.
"Tell me everything, who you saw and what happened. Was Sabrina involved?" He just answered himself.
"Yes."
"I knew it! I knew she must have been behind it," he hisses and bites his knucles.
"She wasn't alone... Blake's mom too. Mrs. Reyna Dawson," I confess and his jaw drops.
"Unbelievable!" he says.
I explain how everything went down and for sure Scott becomes enraged. His eye is twitching and his veins are popping out on his skin.
"We have to do something. They both have to be arrested!" he booms.
"We can't do anything, Scott. They know people everywhere, the media, the police, the government. We are helpless." It hurts when I say it out loud.
"I hate to say this, Kyrah, but... All of this happened because of Blake, and you know it," he speaks the truth.
The truth hurts so bad!
"You're right Scott. I tried not to fall in love with him but I did. I love him," I bite my trembling lip, "I just don't know what to do."
Scott goes awfully quiet for a few minutes before he takes both my hands into his.
"I respect your relationship and I don't want to get in your way, but please, learn to make your own happiness a priority. The number of times I've seen you cry this year is alarming and to be honest with you, it hurts seeing you like that, and knowing the person who is causing the sadness makes it even worse for me. I have a lot to say but, I'll save the rest for later."
I feel like a dagger is being stuck through my chest. His eyes always hold an emotion that I usually find amusing and beautiful but still confusing at the same time. His words sting but he had to say it as it is.
"I guess I'll have to get used to being around people who tell the truth as it is," I say and he smiles.
"Roxy wouldn't have minced her words either. She would have been much harsher than I was," he says.
I smile at the thought of Roxy cursing at Blake endlessly.
"Let's go get you something to eat downstairs," Scott says and he stretches his hand out for me to hold and I humbly oblige.
When we're done with breakfast, Fred and Lilly leave. Lilly had an important meeting so she had to leave without even hearing the details.
She's pretty and she took great care of me last night together with Roxy and Wren. She said Kye would explain everything to her on the phone.
"So what really happened?" Roxy asks. She's seated on my left, Scott on my right.
"Who was involved?" Vic asks.
"Sabri–" I start and Roxy shoots up from the couch, cursing at Cruella de Vil.
"I knew it! That little fucktard! That skinny bitch is a nightmare. A complete psychopath!" Roxy cuts me off. "Somebody tell Satan his daughter is running loose on earth!"
"Yes, Sabrina and Reyna Dawson," I continue.
"I've heard of Sabrina but who's Reyna?" Kye asks frowning.
"Blake's mom," I say.
"Oh my God! Why? Why would your boyfriend's mom try to hurt you?" Wren asks.
"Because she and Sabrina don't want me near Blake. There's always something going on with Sabrina and Blake but I have no idea what. Blake was at my house earlier today and he almost hit my mom," I tell them and Wren gasps, Vic nearly chokes on his water.
"Son of a bitch!" Here we go, Roxy never minces her words. "I am sorry Kyrah but I am so done pretending I like Blake. What did he want?"
I tell the story all over again and Roxy keeps pacing around the living room.
"There's nothing we can do," I say.
"I don't care. I will not let Cruella walk away like that. I will beat the crap out of her!" Roxy threatens.
"You could go to jail," Kye says.
"Going to jail doesn't scare me," she says and Kye chuckles.
"I just want to thank all of you for risking your lives trying to save me. I am truly grateful... So I called my mom and she doesn't know anything, I told her my phone fell in the river, so when we go back, just play along in case she asks," I say and everyone nods.
"What about Sabrina and Blake?" Wren asks.
"I'll keep my distance. Lay low for a while if I have to. Thank God, the semester ended," I sigh.
Wren nods her head.
"Wait... Did you guys find Axel?" I ask when I recall the poor dog whining and barking.
"Yeah, he came running back to us," Vic says.
"He's hurt but Fred checked on him too before you woke up," Roxy adds.
"And we had a little help trying to find you," Kye says. "Red! Come here!"
From somewhere in the house a large dog walks into the living room.
