Chapter 125

"Where was Cruella?" Scott asks, as he walks into the kitchen. "Hey, Kyrah."
"Hey," I answer.
"She met that maniac at the Dawson house yesterday," Roxy answers.
Scott frowns and I know he doesn't like what he just heard. He knows I went there yesterday and the fact that I just got home right now, means I slept at Blake's. He's clever and I know from his silence, he's joining the dots.
"Luckily I managed to get rid of her, in a way I never thought I would after she tried to kill me. You know what just... just forget about the Dawsons. There's just too much that's going on with them." I open the refrigerator and take some mango juice, then pour it into a glass.
"Wait," I say and pick three other glasses. "I sent Vic a text earlier. Where is he? I have some great news."
"At my house," Scott says and I turn to look outside the window. Scott's kitchen faces my kitchen, and his bedroom faces my bedroom too. Coincidentally, Vic is in the kitchen, sipping a glass of water. Roxy opens the window and yells.
"Vic! Get your butt over here. Kyrah's back!"
"Coming!" he yells back.
A minute later he walks into the kitchen and I smile and pour more juice into the other glasses.
"What's up?" he asks.
"Everybody, grab a glass. Because what I'm about to tell you will leave you thirsty." They each take a glass and I continue, "So, I don't know if you guys know the annual award ceremony that the Mayor conducts–"
"The one that's always packed with famous people? Yeah, go on." Roxy's eyes flicker with interest as she takes a sip of her juice.
"Well, my dad was invited by the Mayor but as you all know he won't be available on that day since he flew out. So... He asked me if I could represent him together with you guys."
"No way!" Vic says his mouth agape.
"Are you serious? I've heard of the event, and watched a couple of videos on YouTube before we moved to this place. Last year's event was freaking amazing!" Scott says and my grin grows wider.
"I'm serious. I just wanted to let you know and see if you'd want to–" They cut me off.
"Of course we want to go!" the three say in unison and I clap my hands happily.
"Great, I'll just text dad all of our names. Vic, ask Wren if she'll be coming, Roxy, ask Kye the same and–"
Roxy frowns.
"When is the event happening?" she asks.
"Next Friday night, from 7PM," I say cheerfully. "Is there a problem?"
"Yeah, I doubt Kye will make it. He told me he'll be quite busy for the next couple of weeks, plus he sacrificed to be here for my birthday. So, maybe you guys can... go without me." She sighs and we all look at her as if she's lost her mind.
"I'm sorry, Roxy, but there is no freaking way, we're gonna leave you here all alone. You'll be coming with us," I assure her.
"I won't be alone at all, I'll be with Snow. I mean... you guys said he's my other 'boyfriend'. We do get along pretty well." She nods her head at Snow, who is lying on the floor, very quietly.
"We never leave each other no matter what, and we understand that Kye won't be around for you, but we'll be there for you," Scott says.
"And... you mean..." Roxy raises her eyebrows.
"All of us will be your date. In fact, I'm sure Wren wouldn't mind if we spent the evening with you–" Vic says.
"Whoah! Hold up! I do not, I repeat, DO NOT, want to ruin your night with Wren," Roxy opposes, slamming the island.
"You won't be ruining it, you and Wren are close, so I don't think there'll be any awkwardness," Vic says and takes a sip of his juice.
"Yeah, and you can always switch company and hang out with Kyrah and I..." Scott's words trail off and I know what he's thinking. We've been doing everything together and naturally he just assumed he's my date. Well, yes, he is but he knows I have a boyfriend. He turns to face me and purses his lips before speaking.
"Uhm... Who's your date? Sorry, I just got excited and jumped into conclusion. Is..." he says while scratching the back of his neck.
"He's not going. Actually, I didn't tell him about it. The media haven't been giving him any peace, and he just needs to lay low. So, Scott, will you be my date?" I smile.
"Absolutely!" he smiles back at me and drink his juice.
"Anyway, is there a theme or something?" Vic asks, "I need to know all the details before I call Wren."
"Finally, you asked." I rub my palms together in excitement. "This year's theme of the annual award ceremony, held by the Mayor, is... Drum rolls please." I gesture towards Roxy and she taps the kitchen island like a drum. "A classy, fancy, Masquerade ball and the D-day is only five days away. At the Meridian Square Garden!"
Roxy's jaw drops and she jumps from the island and jumps around like a little girl. Vic and Scott share a fist bump.
"Alright!" Scott says.
"Now, the problem is, we don't have anything to wear. It's a masquerade themed party, people always look fancy and they sure do spend alot of money on the clothes, masks etc. I'm talking about the celebrities who usually attend, you all know how last year's ceremony went down, so we have to level up guys. We need money, and we need to start looking for what to wear soon!" I'm panicking and I place my palm on my forehead out of frustration.
"Calm down. Money isn't a problem, sis," Vic says with a smirk on his face.
"You're talking to the newest millionaires in town. You did not just forget," Roxy says smirking at me. "We'll take care of everything, with a little help from our dad, we could be the celebrities of the night."
My grin is about to tear my face apart. This is great news.
"Okay, that's sorted. We'll start hunting tomorrow. Anyone else you would want to join in?" I glance at Roxy and back at Scott.
"Err... To reduce any awkwardness between two people who aren't used to each other that much, let's just count Johnnie and Maeve, atleast they're a couple," Roxy suggests and I nod my head in agreement.
"Thank you. So, seven names. Let me text my dad right away and call Maeve too. Vic, call Wren ASAP! Roxy, talk to your dad. And Scott..." I tap my chin as Roxy and Vic leave the kitchen. "I'm gonna need your help with the outfits and masks. We should definitely search the Internet for clues. We need to boom into that place like thunder! Keep heads turning, if you know what I mean." I wink at him.
"I like how you always ensure things go the right way. You're amazing," he coos and then I giggle.
"Aah! A masquerade party. I can't wait!" I fan my face with my right hand.
