Chapter 188
As I stare at the door, I sigh again.
Now I know. I fell in love with him before he even unpacked his bags. With just one look, one smile, one 'What you doing later? Wanna grab a drink?' was all it took for me to start falling for him without even realizing. Now letting go of the memories we shared is the hardest part. Blue eyes and blue skies were just the perfect way to fall in love, but as summer is coming to an end, my heart is broken. Goodbye summer and hello to my broken heart.
I slowly push the door open and the familiar scent fills my nostrils and I exhale slowly. One foot after the other I walk inside and close the door behind me. No one has been here, Roxy told me no one, not even Sylvester Stone himself came back. Everything is still in place. I find my way up the stairs as I look at a framed photo of Scott. It's hanged on the wall.
He looks so handsome. It's a photo of him as a senior in high school. He has a buzz cut. He told me his dad likes him with a buzz cut. I remember how his hair had grown when I had last seen him and I sigh. I trace a finger along the photo and then continue walking until I get to his room. I have been in his room countless times but right now it feels like I am walking into it for the very first time.
His signature cologne is vaguely clinging into the air.
My arm is still in a cast, so everything I touch, I use only one hand.
I gently touch his notebooks on his small desk, his bed looks neat, his closet too.
His closet.
I walk straight to the half closed closet and I open it, hold one of his sweatshirts and I take a deep breath as I inhale his scent. Then, something at the bottom of the closet catches my eye.
It's a box, all wrapped up in white and tied with a red bow at the top. A small writing on it. I pick it up and notice that it has my name on it.
Should I open it?
I know it's not good to snoop around people's stuff but... at least I have to know what's in the box. I need to know. If it has my name, then it means it's meant for me.
I carefully open the box and inside, I find a novel.
'JANE EYRE by Charlotte Brontë'
Scott loved to read, alot. I bet he was going to surprise me with this novel later but... whatever happened, already happened. I will definitely read it.
When I open it, the front page has his handwriting and it says: For you, my love. I love you.
"Oh Scott," I whisper as I hug the book.
This breaks me, I feel like a sharp knife just penetrated through my heart and I begin sobbing and lie on the floor as I flip the pages till I get to the first chapter. Then I begin reading.

Roxy's POV
I prefer washing dishes, so I decided to help Kyrah's mom to wash them. As we are busy cleaning up the kitchen, she informs me that she wants to leave for an hour or two.
"Roxy, I'm going to the grocery store and the supermarket to get some stuff that have ran out. Will I find you here when I get back?" she asks as she wipes the island. It looks sparkling clean.
"Yeah, I'll be around. I'll just take a nap while Kyrah is watching TV," I say as the sound of the television fills my ears. She's still watching TV. That's great.
"Alright, let me use the back door as I check on Jones' flowers, and I'll lock the backyards door on my way out, I'm passing by Mrs. Clay's house," she says and leaves. I take that opportunity to rush upstairs and take a nap.
I haven't had enough sleep in days! I'm always awake at night watching over Kyrah at the hospital, but now that she's back, my sleeping pattern will go back to normal. I'm happy that she's back.

I am woken up by Kyrah's mom, shaking me violently.
"Roxy! I can't find her! Where is she? Have you seen her around?" she asks, her voice all panicky.
"No. I was asleep. I thought she was watching TV," I say as I dash out of bed and we head downstairs.
"She must have ran away. Or maybe someone took her while you were asleep. Oh my God, my daughter. Please let her be okay," Mrs. Bailey says as she heads to the backyard and opens the store to look inside. She's not there. I run to the garage and look around. She's not there either. In the guest room... Not there too.
Where is she?
"Okay, just calm down. We'll find her. She's got to be around here somewhere," I say as I swallow hard, hoping that she's fine wherever she is. It's almost 8P.M.
"Stay here, I'll go look for her," I tell her but she refuses at first.
"No, I want to find my daughter," she says. No matter how old one is, they will always be their mother's baby and I understand that very clearly.
"Please, trust me. I'll find her," I say and she sits down on the couch in the living room, biting her finger nails and breathing loudly. I rush upstairs to her room and my eyes land on the bathroom door.
I knock on it twice.
"Kyrah, are you in there?" I ask and there's no reply. Then bad thoughts take over my brain and I regret watching all of those horror movies. So many people commit murder in their bathrooms. Some drown themselves in there, some overdose on drugs and are found in the tubs, some even slice themselves up and lie in a tub full of blood!
"Fuck!" I curse as I open the door, but to my disappointment she's not there. As I look around the room, something outside the window catches my eye. There's light in Scott's room.
Who's in there?
I run as fast as my legs can manage and in seconds, I'm at Scott's front door. I open it and darkness hugs me as I walk inside. I unintentionally caress the walls as I try to find the light switch and when I do, I take the stairs two at a time and head to Scott's room.
The door is open and she's lying there, on the floor.
She's lying next to a novel and she's asleep. Right by her side is an open gift box with a red ribbon.
When I wake her up, she sighs and stares at the novel for a long moment.
"Let's go home," I say and she nods as we leave Scott's room quietly and I switch the lights off.
