Chapter 143

My mom and I look at each other in utter surprise. Dad has been ignoring mom ever since they came back home. He hasn"t been talking to her that much either and I"m shocked that he actually wants to talk to her. A small smile appears on my mom"s face and a feeling of gratitude takes over my wounded heart. For a moment, I forget about the pain I was feeling earlier and I smile as I watch the two of them walk to the swimming pool area, all blurry and shit. Atleast some positivity decided to come my way. But I know as soon as I wake up later on, all the negativity and bad occurrences of last night and a massive hangover will hit me like a tornado. All I need to do now, is go upstairs, take a shower and sleep.
With my eyes on the long blurry spiral staircase, I decide not to use it to get to my room. So I use the elevator instead, laying my weak body on the bottom of the cold metal as I wait to arrive in my room.

Roxy"s POV
We spent the entire night awake, watching movies just to pass time, and when Kyrah finally fell asleep at around 7am, it had stopped raining. Vic and Scott went to Scott"s house to sleep and I also threw myself on the bed and slept. But only for a few hours and when I wake up, it"s 11am. I"m still sleepy but my stomach is growling like a grizzly bear, so I turn to my side and notice Kyrah isn"t in bed. My heart skips a beat. Where is she? I jump out of bed and rush downstairs, only to find her in the kitchen. Cooking.
"Am I dreaming or... why are you cooking?" I wonder out loud. A frown forms on my face. When she turns to look at me she looks like the grim reaper just sucked the life out of her.
"Whoa! You don"t look so good, babe. Let me help you," I say, walking towards her. She"s moping and I know it. Her eyes are swollen and it"s like her whole energetic self just got unplugged from the source.
"But you don"t like cooking," she mumbles weakly, holding the spatula.
"I may not like cooking but that doesn"t mean I can"t cook. Now give me that!" I snatch the spatula off her hand.
"Fine. Your pancakes are way better than mine anyway," she sighs heavier than usual.
"Just sit there and I"ll finish cooking," I say and she pulls a stool next to the kitchen island and sits on it then stares blankly at an empty mug in front of her. Once I"m done cooking I serve us both as we wait for the boys to come over.
"Aren"t you gonna eat?" I ask and she shakes her head and sighs, her shoulders dropping. "Well at least drink your hot chocolate. You love it. We both love it." She refuses and pushes the mug aside.
"Kyrah please, you know how much I love eating and you"re making me feel uncomfortable as I eat while you"re not," I whine and place my mug back on top of the island.
"Just go ahead and eat. I"m fine," she whispers and I push my pancakes and mug of hot chocolate aside.
"You"re not fine at all. It"s so visible in your eyes. I know it"s not easy dealing with a heartbreak–"
"How do you know? You"ve only dated one guy in your life and that"s Kye," she says nonchalantly while scratching her forehead. Well it"s true, Kye is my first boyfriend ever.
"A heartbreak doesn"t necessarily have to come from someone you"re dating. Anyone can break your heart. I"ve had major heartbreaks in life. First, when I thought my dad had died and second, when my mom actually died, third was when Vic told me Olivia had kicked him out of her house. I know the pain, it's awful and that's why I became so bitter with life and became a rebel," I say as Vic and Scott walk into the kitchen.
"It"s true, Kyrah. We've all been heartbroken at some point in life. A girl once broke my heart in high school and it made me hate broccoli," Vic adds, a frown plastered on his face.
"Why?" Kyrah asks.
"Because I came to realize the way she tied her hair made it look like broccoli," Vic says and Kyrah chuckles lightly. Her first heartbreak wasn"t as bad as this one though and I know it hit her so hard.
"What about you Scott?" she sniffles, "Anyone ever break your heart?"
I turn to face Scott and he purses his lips and sits next to Kyrah as Vic sits next to me.
"Yeah. My mom. When she left us after divorcing my dad. Even after I begged her, she still left. It broke me watching her carry her bags and leave. Any time she called and asked to speak to me, I ran to my room. I was just a child then, but I'm still heartbroken," Scott says and Kyrah nods.
I serve the boys their breakfast and sit down again.
"The point is, no matter what life throws at you, pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Move on even though the process may take long, you have to view life in a different way. In your case, don"t spend most of your time sulking and thinking about that dung beetle, Blake Dawson and that Delilah" with a body of a stray dog, Sabrina Johnson. Those two Chewbaccas aren't worth your tears. You"ll only make it worse for yourself."
I hear light chuckles from Vic and Scott.
"What?" I ask. "What"s funny?" I ask as I notice Kyrah is trying not to laugh by biting her lower lip.
"So now Blake is a dung beetle and Sabrina is Delilah with a body of a stray dog? My goodness, Roxy!" Vic lets out a loud laughter and I join in.
"That"s what they are and screw them for what they"ve done to my best friend. You know what? Karma is a bitch and soon enough the two of them will pay for everything," I say shoving my right fist into my left palm.
"They say what goes around comes back around," Vic says as he chews his last piece of pancake.
"Who's 'they'?" I ask.
"You know... they... I don"t even know what I"m saying," Vic laughs.
"You guys are amazing. Thank you for everything," Kyrah sighs.
"There"s no need to thank us, we"re a family. We"ve got your back, sis," I say as I pat her arm.
"Aren"t you going to eat?" Scott asks and Kyrah sighs again.
"She doesn"t want to eat, I even begged her and put my breakfast aside," I complain.
"Warm the pancakes and chocolate," Scott says and I put them in a microwave and bring them back to the kitchen island and continue eating mine as I watch Scott carefully. He just smiles at her warmly and hands her the mug and she takes a sip. Then he takes a fork and knife and slices a piece of the pancake and raises it to Kyrah"s mouth and to my surprise, she actually opens her mouth and eats the pancake.
"Like I said, you truly are her guardian angel," I say sipping my hot chocolate as Scott wipes Kyrah"s mouth with a serviette. Scott has feelings for her, that I"m sure of but Kyrah seems a bit blind. It"s like she doesn"t read all the signs that this man in front of her wants her. Blake has clogged her mind! But I can"t force things between Scott and Kyrah. It"s all up to them. But just in case these two happen to hit it off, I have the perfect name for them. Skyrah! And I am very sure Skyrah is endgame!
