Chapter 10
Lexi
After I got home I had a quick snack of sliced apples and grapes. After my snack I make sure I have everything I need for work. I have an hour before I have to be at work so I go out on the back porch. I like sitting out there. Maybe I should invest in an outdoor heater or something so I can sit out here more often. I lean against the railing and just look out at the woods. But I don't really see anything. I’m just letting my mind wonder. When I finally open my eyes I see the same chocolate wolf from yesterday. At least I think it is the same wolf. He has the same coloring and eyes. And definitely the same goofy look on his face. This time instead of sitting at the edge of the woods he is sitting by the bowl I gave him.
“ Hello again.” I said. He sits down and opens his mouth letting his tongue hang out. I laugh “ Your silly, you know that. Would you like some water?” Yep, I’m talking to a wolf again. He nudges the bowl with his nose. Did that just happen? “ Ok I’ll get you some. But you have to back up a little and I will come get your bowl.” I said. I swear he nods his head then steps back about five feet and sits down. I climb down the steps and head towards him. Like a good boy he doesn’t move. I pick up the bowl and say “ Thank you for listening. I’ll be right back.”
Once inside I fill the bowl and look around my fridge. I found a pack of hot dogs that I barely touched. I’m not even sure why I bought them in the first place. I’m not a fan of them. I heat up the remaining six real quick and put them on a plate for him. I carry them outside and see he hasn’t moved. I set them down in the same spot as before. “ I thought you might be hungry. I’m sure you prefer raw meat but this was the best I could do.” I said. I crouch down and look at him “ If you are going to keep visiting me I think we should give you a name. I don’t think I should keep calling you wolfy.” I laugh.
He nods his head again. What the hell? Get a grip Lexi this wolf is not nodding at you. “ Let’s see. We need something strong. Let me get a good look at you.” I said. I look into his eyes and let mine glow. This catches him off guard I guess because his eyes go big and he turns his head to the side. “ The eye thing bother you? Sorry. I was trying to get a better idea of who you are. I hide them as much as possible but I felt like I could show you.” I said. Yes, I admit it I’m going crazy or just desperate for someone to talk to. Both probably.
I look at him as a whole and see he gives off a protector vibe. “ I have got it. I will call you Argos. I think it suits you. What do you think?” I asked. I must be hallucinating because he nods his head again. My watch beeps letting me know I need to get my butt moving. “ Well, Argos it has been nice visiting with you but that sound means I need to get ready for work. See you next time.” I wave by and turn around. I know I shouldn’t but I get the feeling he isn’t going to hurt me.
Aiden
The next day after Jesse had run in with Lexi he had another one. But this time he wouldn’t say anything about it. I have a feeling that he has been seeing her ever since but I can’t prove it. I have had a hard time keeping away from her myself. Or at least Razor has. I have found myself outside the diner several times just trying to get a glimpse of Lexi. I tried to go out on a date with a she-wolf from our pack but Razor growled at her everytime she touched me. She decided she had enough and that my wolf didn’t like her so she left. She hasn’t talked to me since. Not that I blame her. I’ll just have to try again. I told Razor he wasn’t acting stupid and couldn’t keep chasing off my dates but he growled at me in response. He said “ I warned you what would happen. I will do worse if you don’t stop touching other girls. Don’t push me.” Then he blocked me out. Again. I just don’t get him lately.
Finally we got a meeting with the Elders. Maybe we can get to the bottom of this and I can figure out how to reject Lexi without her looking at me like I am crazy. I’m headed to the conference room with Jesse, Melissa and Jackson. The conference room isn’t a big deal. Just a room with a long table. We only use this room when we are meeting with a large group of people. Since there are six Elders, me and my crew, as well as my dad and mom. It makes sense to use that room.
When we get there the Elders are already sitting on one side of the table. My dad at one end and my mom at the other. We bow at the Elders as a sign of respect and take our seats across from them. Elder Nyson starts the meeting. “ I understand you gathered us because something odd with a young lady in town. Could you please explain?” I explained what I felt, leaving out the mate part. Jesse, Jackson and Melissa did the same. Elder Zimmer nods “ Alpha it is my understanding that you and the Luna went to the diner to see this young lady. What was your experience?” he asked.
I’m curious to know as well. I know dad said he was going to go but I didn’t know he did. My dad says “ I didn’t talk to the young lady but I watched her. Everyone at the diner from the employees to the customers adore her. At least the ones I was able to talk to.” “ Did you notice anything odd? Like the kids experienced?” Zimmer asked. My dad nods “ Yes, Elder I did. I felt a connection to her I can’t explain. So did Andros. He wants to protect her.” “ And you Luna?” asked Elder Carnos.
