Luther
I was shocked. We all were. I have never seen Lexi project her glow that far out. I stood up to protect Lexi in case anyone retaliated. Technically she attacked someone in our pack. Although I’m sure she didn’t mean to do it. She reacted on instinct. When grandpa gets over his shock he slowly walks towards Lexi like she is a frightened animal. When he is a foot away from her grandpa drops to his knees and bows his head. “ It is true. You are here. Never in my lifetime did I think I would be able to meet you. And you are going to be my granddaughter. I am truly blessed to meet you.” he says.
Lexi looks around for an explanation and says “ Oh, um. Thank you. I think.” Then like it dawns on her that she blasted him she says in a panic “ Please stand up. I need to make sure you aren’t injured.” He stands laughing “ Don’t worry about me my dear. I’m fine. Just a little pulse. No harm done. Let me get a good look at you.” While grandpa looks Lexi up and down and my poor girl looks uncomfortable. “ Sir forgive my bluntness but who the hell are you?”
“ Goddess, I’m a moron. I’m Nevel Riverclaw. Luther’s granddad and soon to be yours. Welcome to the family my dear.” he said pulling Lexi in for a hug. “ It is nice to meet you sir. Umm, Alpha?” Lexi asks as he pulls away. She reaches for her notebook. I hand it to her so she can flip through it. When she can’t find what she is looking for she turns to me and whispers forgetting we can all hear her. “ Luther, my notes don’t cover this. How do I address him? Former Alpha? Mr. Riverclaw?”
Grandpa laughs “ You may call me Nevel and when you are comfortable I’ll take grandpa.” “ How do you do Nevel? I’m Lexi. Are you sure you aren’t hurt? I didn’t mean to do that. I didn’t know I could. Or what I did exactly. You just startled me and I reacted.” she said. “ Don’t worry about me. I know all about you, I should have been more cautious.” he said. “ Will you join us for lunch and tell me what you know along with the Elders?” Lexi asked.
Then she gasped looking at mom and dad “ I’m sorry. It isn’t my place to ask. Is it ok if Nevel joins us?” “ Yes, it is fine. We have been expecting him.” dad says laughing. Grandpa sits across the table so he can face us. After getting a plate he tells us how his dad was supposed to protect the last chosen but was too late. Then he explains that it has been our family that passes along the information and trains for when the next chosen person is born. How they had found out about Lexi but since her pack was destroyed they had assumed she was killed as well. Grandpa said he is grateful for the quick acting of her parents and Elder Samuel to ensure Lexi’s survival.
“ So you can help me? To gain my control back and to figure out what I’m supposed to do. And how to get my wolf.” Lexi asked. The Elders nod and Picard answers “ Yes, we can. We have prepared for years. We know when you get your wolf. That is when you have successfully mated with both your mates.” Lexi looks down. “ Oh, I see. So it is going to be a while.” she said disappointed. “ Why is that? Have you not met your second mate?” mom asks.
Lexi and I explain how she has but he rejected her and Lexi needs to finish the rejection so she can get her second chance mate. “ That boy is an idiot. To give away such a gift. We can help you get in control so you can do the rejection. That way you can get your second chance mate. The Goddess has you paired with two for a reason and she won’t leave you without your second for long. As of matter of fact we can have a get together with the other packs in the area and you can do the rejection the same day.” Grandda said.
“ Why invite other packs?” I asked. “ Isn’t it possible that Lexi’s next mate will be in our pack?” I continued. Ross answered “ No. Lexi’s other mate will be from another pack. That is part of her uniting us. We can include Alpha Cline’s pack. There is a possibility her other mate may be there. But I doubt it. Lexi’s other mate will most likely be another Alpha.” That does make sense. “ So you think I will get my second chance that quick?” Lexi asked. Zander answers this question. “ Yes, I do. You need to be mated and have your wolf so that you gain the rest of your powers. You need your mates to be able to work together as soon as possible so they can help you. Your guardians are also in the pack with your mates so giving you a second mate as fast as possible so they can learn to work together before you battle Valeros.”
All of that makes sense. The Goddess knows there is a war coming. She is going to make sure all her players are prepared. Even learning to get along. I will have to learn to share Lexi with another man in and out of the bedroom. The sooner I meet this guy and come up with some sort of system. And all of her guardians have to work together. “ And you can help me do the rejection so no one gets hurt?” Lexi asked.
“ Yes. You can project most anything but they are emotion based. We just need to help you control your emotions. Just for that moment and we can get it done.” Picard said. Lexi nods “ If you will. I would like to start training right away. I need to work around my school schedule but I’m quitting my job so I will be available often. And I need to learn more about packs. As well as the hierarchy. And any wolf history if you would be willing to let me have access.” Lexi said.
I figured Lexi would jump in with both feet once she set her mind to it. “ Luther, you will need to be in the training as well. Once you are mated to Lexi you and your wolf will have access to a few of her powers. Diesel pops up for the first time today. “ Lexi is going to let me use some of her powers? Just when I think she is perfect she has to push the limits and prove there is more.” he said. I agree with him. “ And Luther we will have to fast track your Alpha training. At some point both you and Lexi’s other mate will have to work together and form one pack so you need to be ready.” dad said.
I nod. I will do work with my dad when Lexi has classes so I don’t have to be away from her while she is here. Lexi and the Elders hash out a schedule. Mom says she will work on the birthday plans and just ask Lexi her preferences and she will deal with everything else. It is suggested that Lexi do the rejection a day or two before her party. That way they can invite the other packs and Lexi can be on the lookout that night. It will be when she can finally feel and smell her mate. I don’t think that is a bad idea at all.
