“ Yes, Elder. I felt the same thing the Alpha did. It was an instant connection. Embery wanted to hold her and keep her safe and that was before I spoke to Patsy about her.” my mom said. “ What did Pasty have to say?” Elder Anderson asked. Patsy, even though she is human she knows about us. Her mate was one of us before he passed away. She has been part of us since before I was born. “ That was the odd thing. Patsy refused to say much. And that isn’t like her. She knew the girl's grandmother and promised to keep watch over her. The girl has no one except Patsy. Her parents died when she was young and she was raised by her grandmother in Florida. She moved here after her grandmother died to go to school. But as a mom when I found out she was alone I wanted to protect her even more.” mom said.

Elder Trenton said “ We would like to talk to your wolves in just a minute. Have any of you had any close interactions with this young lady?” Jesse says “ I have elders.” “ Before we go further do any of you know her name?” Elder Standish asks. Jesse does something odd that gets all of our attention. He looks Standish right in the eyes and says “ It’s Lexi.” Standish jolts back “ Lexi?” Jesse nods. How does Standish know Lexi? Thankfully Elder Nyson asks the question for me. “ She is a special student in my class.” Standish said. That makes sense since he is a professor at the school she goes to. “ What does special mean?” Elder Anderson asked.

“ Besides the fact that she is extremely smart. She is a solid A student. She is sweet and respectful. I have to agree with what the others are saying. There are some physical oddities. And they way my wolf has acted since the first day she showed up to class. He is protective of her. But he could never explain to me why. He just said he felt like he had to keep her safe.” Standish said. Now this is getting weirder. My mom, dad, and now Standish all want to keep her safe. I thought it was just us.

“ What do you mean physical oddities?” Zimmer asked. Jesse and Standish answer in unison “ Her eyes.” Standish continues “ They glow sometimes. She tries to hide it but I have caught it. They are brighter than normal on a regular basis but there are times they glow. Then there is her speed. I have seen her take notes and no human can write that fast and still be able to read it. I have tested her without her knowing. I have dropped things close to her and she has surprisingly fast reflexes for a human. And I know she has heightened hearing.”

“ Anything else?” Carnos asked. Jesse nods “ She is strong. She was running out of class the other day and ran into me. She was able to shove me back a foot and it actually hurt where she hit me. She wasn’t even fazed.” Zimmer says “ We are going to ask that you let your wolves forward one at a time. We want to know what they experienced. Standish I would like to speak to yours as well.” Standish nods in agreement.

“ Alpha, would you go first?” Carnos asked. I was curious myself as to what the other wolves had to say. I watch my dad’s eyes change as he lets Andros forward. “ Andros, thank you for helping. Could you tell us how you felt about this young lady?” “ Elder’s I feel she is more than human. But I don’t know what. I feel like she is important.” Andro’s said. My mom was next. “ Embery, please explain your feelings.” Trenton said. “ She must be protected. She needs love. She is different.” Embery said.

“ Enzo, will tell us your experience with this lady. You seem to have spent more time with her than anyone.” Anderson said. Enzo, Standish’s wolf said “ She is special. I check on her when she is on campus. I can feel her when she arrives on campus.” Melissa, her wolf Amber went next but it was the same as the others. A strong need to protect Lexi. Jackson’s wolf Trip said the same. I had to go next. I just hoped that Razor would say anything about us being mates. “ Razor, what do you have to say?” Standish asked. “ Lexi is powerful or will be. I have spoken to the Goddess. She said that Lexi is important but it is not the time to reveal it. Goddess said that Lexi must be protected. She is not safe alone. Elder’s Lexi doesn’t know what she is yet other than she is different then most people.”

“ Razor, are you saying Lexi is more than human?” Standish asked. “ I only know what I feel and what little the Goddess has told me. Her scent says she is more than human. The Goddess has implied the same.” Razor said. “ Razor, we know you have a strong link to the Goddess. Is there anything else she wants us to know?” Nyson asks. I sit back and watch as Razor goes silent. I’m completely blocked right now. I am never involved when Razor talks to the Goddess. After five minutes I can hear again telling me Razor is back.

“ Elder’s she said you must search the archives.” Razor said. “ Thank you Razor.” Trenton said. “ Jesse, would you let Remus forward?” Carnos asked. When Remus came forward I saw a change in him. He sat taller and he looked happy. But there was something else. “ Remus, do you have anything to add?” Standish asked. “ Elder’s I have spent time with Lexi all week. As a wolf. It was an accident the first time.” Remus explained how he could feel Lexi’s emotions and followed it. And how she reacted. “ Since that time I have seen her everyday.” Remus said.

He explains how she looked at him and he saw her eyes glowing. He felt as if she could see all of him. Like she could see his soul. “ Elders, after her eyes glowed she gave me a name.” Remus said. “ What does she call you?”Zimmer asked. “ She named me Argos.” Remus said. I watched Standish’s jaw drop. Is there a meaning behind that name? “ Can you tell us what happens during these visits?” Nyson asked. Yea, I want to know as well. What the hell is he is doing going to see Lexi everyday?

Remus smiles “ She makes sure I have water. And she has given me food. She talks to me. I feel she has no one. So I just listen.” “ Do you get close to her?” Standish asked. “ I got close enough yesterday for her to scratch between my ears. She talked to me for an hour while she did it.” Remus said. “ And Lexi doesn’t get scared of you?” Anderson asked. “ No, Elder. Lexi laughed when she told me she didn’t feel like I would hurt her even though I was a wild animal. She said I felt safe. Lexi likes spending time with me. Elder’s, I feel a connection to her that I can’t explain nor do I want to fight it. I will fight for Lexi as I would for my Alpha and Luna.” he said.

Wow. I don’t even know what to say to what he just said. Remus believes Lexi is as important as my parents? Why? “ Remus, do you know what the name Lexi gave you means?” Standish asked. “ No Elder. Is it important?” Remus asked. “ I think it might be a clue. Argos in Greek mythology means vigilant guardian. She is calling you her protector.” Standish said. I swear I saw Jesse puff out his chest in pride.

“ I think we can all agree we need to look into this. We will check the archives like the Goddess said. But I think and I hope my fellow Elder’s will agree that you need to listen to your wolves and protect Lexi. The Goddess says she is important and we can not let her down. When we know more we will call another meeting.” Carnos said. The others nodded in agreement. Great, just what I need is to watch over Lexi. Maybe I’ll just let the others look after her for me. I need to find another she wolf and hope Razor doesn’t chase this one off.
