Chapter 71
Luther
We sat in the living room while Jesse explained the guardians job to Tyler and Isabelle. Lexi was sitting between Jesse and Melissa with her head on Melissa’s shoulder. Jackson voiced his thoughts on how Lexi could sense them even though she doesn’t have a wolf and could always tell when they were close. Dean and Freya agree with him. Lexi smirks “ See a pain in the ass.” I chuckle and shake my head. Melissa wraps her arm around Lexi holding her close. “ Being Lexi’s guardian is hard. I won’t lie. You have to put her life before everything, including your Alpha or yourself.” Melissa says.
But she turns and smiles at Lexi. “ The reward is so worth it. Lexi may try to convince you she is hard to work with but she isn’t. She is sweet, loving, smart and would do anything for those she cares about. Once you win a place in her heart you are there forever. We were given this job because of the Goddess but we want to be by Lexi’s side because of the person she is.” Melissa said. You could tell by her tone she truly cares for Lexi and not because she is the Goddess’s child. I see Ryan watching intently. I see his wolf come out when the guys touch her but he keeps a handle on it. He is going to have to get over it. Lexi is a hugger.
“ That brings us to one of the reasons we came over.” Jackson said. That peaks my interest so I lean forward placing my elbows on my knees. Lexi jolts up straight. “ What’s wrong?” Lexi asks with panic in her voice. Jesse places a hand on Lexi’s arm and rubs “ Easy Lexi. It is nothing bad.” Before Lexi can open her mouth to ask more Ryan growls “ Could you please stop touching her? My wolf is getting pissed and it is getting hard to control him.” Jesse removes his hand and holds it up in a surrender motion. “ Sorry, Alpha Ryan. I’m used to being able to touch Lexi when I want.” he said.
“ Quit stalling.” Lexi said, getting impatient. Melissa laughs “ We didn’t want to give up our jobs. So we talked with Alpha Cline and he agreed that we can still be your guardians. We still train with Luther’s pack and now Alpha Ryan’s. Or the next mate’s pack” “ That is super sweet but what about Aiden. Don’t you need to work with him to get ready to take over?” Lexi asked. Jackson places his hand over his mouth and I can see his shoulders shaking from laughing. “ Aiden isn’t an issue for a while.” Jesse chuckled.
The three of them explained how Alpha Cline was so pissed at Aiden he removed Aiden from the Alpha floor to the warriors floor. Alpha Cline removed Aiden’s Alpha title until he can prove himself. He doesn’t get to train the warriors Aiden has to train with the elite warriors and the Elders to study Lexi’s entire history. He has to work with Luna Cline and a few others on how to treat all people with respect and how to treat women. The thing I found the funniest is Alpha Cline used the Alpha command to order Aiden to not touch another female until his second chance mate came along.
I started laughing when I heard that. Lexi laughed so hard she fell off the arm of the chair she was sitting on and was rolling around. Ryan and I both went for Lexi but I sat back down and let Ryan get her. Ryan helps a still laughing Lexi off the floor, picks her up in his arms and sits down on the couch with Lexi on his lap. “ He is'' Lexi wheezed. “ Going to.” giggle. “ Have the” giggle “ Case of.” giggle. “ Worst case.” gasp, giggle. “ Of blue balls.” giggle. “ When he does.” giggle, gasp. “ Touch a woman.” giggle. “ it will be” giggle. “ Over before he starts.” gasp. Giggle.
I fucking lose it. I crack up. My eyes are watering. And I’m not the only one. The whole room is filled with laughter. The way wolves sex drive work going with for more than a month can be torture for lesser more contolled wolves. And unless Aiden makes some serious changes he could be without a mate for years. Once we settle down and Lexi can breathe she says “ I am honored as usual to have you by my side.”
“ Now for other business. Alpha Ryan I would like you and yours to go talk to the Elders and get my full history. If you are still in we need to make a trip to your pack to meet your Elders. And we can use that time to get to know each other.” Lexi said to Ryan. Ryan looks at Lexi the same way I do. A mix of lust, adoration and in my case love. “ Lexi, I’m not changing my mind. I will go with the Elders because I want to know everything I can about the prophecy. Then we will head out to my pack.” Ryan said. “ And please no more Alpha. It is just Ryan to you, my Luna. You are right, we are equals.”
“ Good, now get going.” Lexi said with a smile. She gets up off of Ryan’s lap and comes to me. I’m still sitting on the couch so she straddles my legs and wraps her arms around my neck. I grab her ass and pull her close. “ What would you like me to do?” I asked, smirking. “ You my mate. I was thinking you could put your hands to use on my sore muscles in the shower.” Oh, I like that idea. I don’t know if her wolf is driving her or she is getting more comfortable with me but Lexi has been initiating more sexual contact between us. I don’t care who is doing it, I’m loving it.
When Lexi goes to Ryan's pack I’m going with. To protect her and to see if Ryan and I can get along. So far I have respect for him. He accepted Lexi right away and is still accepting her no matter what he hears. She is his second chance and I don’t think he is going to let her go without a fight. I will give a chance until he proves me wrong. Mate or not no I have him hurt Lexi. I will kill him if he does.
