Chapter 42
Aiden
Today is my date with Lexi. Finally. I’m nervous and excited. And maybe this will get Razor to shut up. He has been bouncing in my head like an over excited puppy since he got to kiss Lexi before I did. Hell the fucker got to hold Lexi before I did. I don’t know the whole conversation between Lexi and Razor but I got the jist of it. Lexi has bonded with Razor. Big time. Am I jealous? A little. But I can use it to my advantage. Lexi only agreed to go out with me because of Razor. She is giving me a chance because of him. If I have to let him come out more to keep Lexi I will. I will do whatever I have to. I need Lexi. I need those sparks she sends through me.
I agreed to pick Lexi up at her house for our date. I’m standing at her front door now. I can hear two people moving around inside. One is Lexi and the other was a wolf I didn’t know. I was going to guess it was one of Lexi’s guards from Luther’s pack. I check my clothes again to make sure I’m neat. “ Stop fussing. Lexi isn’t going to care about what you are wearing. She is going to care about your actions.” Razor said. “ I know man. I’m nervous. There is a lot riding on this.” I said to him. “ Just don’t be an ass. Let her see the good guy in you. Or show her more of me. Whoever gets our mate in our arms.” Razor said. It was time to shut him down.
I knock on the door and wait. The door opens to a guy I recognize from the training field. He holds out his hand “ Alpha Aiden, I’m Dean, one of Lexi’s guardians.” I shake his hand. “ Come in. Lexi will be down in a minute.” Dean says as he holds the door open for me. I go inside and Lexi’s scent surrounds me. I pull in as much as I can into my lungs. It calms my nerves right away. I can do this. I can win my mate.
“ Dean, are you sure this is alright? Aiden said we were going to dinner but he didn’t say where. This might be too dressy.” I hear Lexi say as she walks down the stairs. I turn and freeze. My jaw has hit the floor with a thud. Razor is howling like a cartoon wolf. Not that I blame him. Lexi is wearing a thin strapped navy blue dress. The bodice of it is tight against her chest pushing her double c size tits up to show them off but covers enough to not look like a tramp. The waist of the dress flares out at her hips and stops at her knees. She is wearing modest black heels. Maybe two inches tall. I have never seen Lexi wear make-up before or if she did I never noticed. But she is wearing it now.
It is light but it enhances her features, especially her eyes. Her flaming red hair that I always see pulled up in a ponytail is now down in loose curls the flow to the middle of her back. She was radiant. I hear laughter beside me and Dean says “ My Luna, you look beautiful. When Aiden can pick up his jaw I’m sure he will agree.” I finally snap back to what is going on. I step forward. “ Lexi, you look stunning.” I told her. Lexi blushes, it is so cute. “ Thank you Aiden. You look handsome yourself.” Lexi says.
I hold out my hand to give Lexi the flowers I bought her. “ These are for you.” I said. Lexi's eyes light up when she sees them. I know I made the right choice. I owe Melissa big time for this. “ I’ll put those up for you while you grab your jacket, Lexi.” Dean said. Lexi looks over at him as he walks to put the flowers up. “ Do you think I will need one? I’m pretty warm.” Lexi asks. Dean comes back to us. “ Yes, Lexi. For two reasons. You still need to blend in with humans and they are wearing a jacket in this weather. And you may get cold later.” he said.
“ Alpha, Lexi has been experiencing times of wolf heat. She fluctuates back and forth between a human temperature and wolf. And she hasn’t adjusted to it yet.” Dean explains. Now I understand. “ Lexi, as much as I would hate to see you covered up, Dean is right. At least grab a light jacket.” Lexi grabs her jacket but doesn’t put it on yet. “ I’m ready if you are.” she said. I nodded and placed my hand on the small of her back to escort her out. The sparks were there but I noticed they weren’t as strong. That told me that the bond was starting to fade.
Razor whimpered. “ You can’t let this happen Aiden. I need my mate.” he said. “ I’m going to do my best, buddy.” I told him. I am going to have to speed up my plans a little. I thought I had more time before the sparks began to fade. I helped Lexi in my truck then reached over to buckle her in. Lexi giggled “ I can do that myself Aiden.” “ I know. I just want to help.” I said. It was actually an excuse to keep touching her. “ Keep touching mate. Build the sparks back up.” Razor groaned.
I agreed with him. This date wasn’t going to be enough. I was going to have to be close to Lexi as much as possible. Once Lexi is taken care of I close the door and run around to the other side. I jump in and start the truck. As I’m backing out of the driveway Lexi asked “ So where are we going?” “ We are driving to Marquette for dinner first.” I told her. Lexi looks over to me “ First?” “ Yes, I have a whole evening planned.” I said. “ A whole evening? What else are we doing?” she asked. “ It is a surprise. But if you don’t like anything we can do something else.” I told her. I wanted Lexi to have fun. She has been doing nothing but going to school, training and learning shifter history and protocols. She needed a break. And I was going to give it to her. “ I’m sure what you have planned is fine.” Lexi said.
