Chapter 34

Luther

When I saw all the Elders and my parents bowing to Lexi I was just as confused as she was. My parents don’t bow to anyone but the Elders and the Elders never bow to anyone. I keep Lexi close to my chest and ask “ Mom, dad? What are you doing? What is going on?” My dad stands and comes over to us. Well to Lexi. He gently places his hands on Lexi’s shoulders causing her to look up at him. Dad keeps his eyes on Lexi as he answers. “ We are paying our respects to my future daughter,” he said. “ Alpha. I don’t understand. From what I learned I should bow to you.” Lexi said.

She is right. There is no reason for my dad and them to be bowing to Lexi. My mom gets up next. “ Son not only were you blessed with a beautiful and sweet mate. We are blessed with the Prophecy child. The child of the Goddess herself. We bow to her because we should.” mom said. She looks at Lexi,” Sweetheart, I know you are learning so I will put this simple. As far as rankings go, you out rank all of us. You are a step lower than the Goddess herself.” My mate is that close to the Moon Goddess? If I thought I was lucky before that is nothing compared to this. I feel privileged that the Goddess chose me to be mated to Lexi.

“ I still don’t understand. The Elders at Mr. Cline’s pack never said anything like this. And I’m still having a hard time with this Prophecy stuff. I’m still thinking you have the wrong girl.” Lexi said. “ That is understandable. How about we meet the Elders and have some lunch. We can fill in the gaps the other Elders either left out or didn’t know. And we will get to know each other. I want to know everything about my daughter.” my mom said.

Before Lexi can answer, mom pulls her out of my arms and towards the Elders. I look over at my dad for help. My mom just took my mate. Dad just shrugs his shoulders “ Let your mom have this right now. It isn’t everyday our son brings his mate home. Let them get to know each other.” Dad laughs and slaps my shoulder “ You are going to have to get used to sharing her. Between Lexi having another mate and people that are going to need her, you may not get her to yourself as often as you like. I have the same problem with your mother since she is Luna. Just enjoy the time you do have together.”

“ I will try dad. Is Lexi related to the Goddess?” I asked. “ Come we will fill you both in.” dad said as he led me by the shoulder. I stand behind Lexi and my mom while she does introductions. “ Lexi, these are our Elders.” mom said. She starts from left to right. “ This is Xavier, Morris, Picard, Maize, Zander and Ross. The experts on you and your Prophecy.” Lexi holds her hand out and slightly bows her head, “ It is an honor to meet you, gentleman.”

Picard comes forward as the senior Elder “ The honor is ours dear Lexi. Allow me to escort you to lunch.” Lexi looks over her shoulder at me unsure. I just smile and nod for her to go ahead. Mom,dad and me follow behind as we go to the dining room. I see Lexi looking around taking everything in. I’ll have to give her a tour later. I want this to be her home so I want her to know her way around.

We all sat down. The Elders sit across from Lexi and I. Mom and dad at the head of the table. I noticed an extra chair but didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t uncommon. “ Lexi, we just wanted to do a small get together for you so we wouldn’t bombard you with people. I hope this lunch is alright with you. We did know what you liked.” mom asked. There was grilled cheese, two different soups, garden salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, blt’s, club sandwiches and burgers.

“ This is too much but thank you Mrs.Riverclaw.” Lexi said. “ Please, grab anything you want. Dig in everyone.” Mom said. I don’t think Lexi paid attention but us guys waited until after mom and her got their food before we served ourselves. I saw that Lexi’s plate was loaded almost as much as mine was. Lexi blushes and looks down at her plate that has a burger, blt, garden salad, two grilled cheeses and a bowl of vegetable soup. “ Sorry. I can put some back. My appetite has increased to a major level lately.” she said.

“ Nonsense. You eat what you want. We are not strangers to big eaters. Every wolf in this pack can eat three times that much.” dad said. Lexi seemed pleased with that and dove in. She had just finished her second grilled cheese and was about to start on her soup when Elder Ross said “ Lexi forgive me speaking out of turn. But I believe your increased appetite is your body getting ready for your wolf to come forward. You are close to your twentieth birthday correct?” Lexi wipes her mouth then answers “ Yes, sir. Just a few weeks away.”

“ Oh, we should throw you a party. It will be a big night for you. It should be celebrated.” mom said getting giddy. “ No, I can’t ask you to go through the trouble.” Lexi said. “ You didn’t ask. I want to do this. And it will give me a chance to show you off.” mom said. Lexi looks like she is about to argue so I step in. “ Baby, there is no use when mom makes up her mind.” I told her. Lexi turns to my mom “ Thank you Mrs. Riverclaw.” Mom raises an eyebrow at Lexi. “ I mean Christina.” Lexi said.

Mom laughs “ That’s better. Now eat, we will talk about your party later.” Everyone asked Lexi questions about her background, where she grew up, how she was liking school. She told us about her parents and grandma. I knew those answers but I still paid attention in case I missed something. Elder Maize asked Lexi what it was like growing up being different from humans. “ It was hard, to be honest. I had to train hard to learn to control my strength, speed and glowing. The hearing and eyesight thing was easy to hide. But I had a good support system and that helped more than anything.” Lexi said. I hadn’t thought about what she has had to go through. It couldn’t have been easy and I was happy she had someone there to support and encourage her.

“ You have us now. We will help you in any way we can. Once you have talked to the Elders to find out the whole story behind you we will be beside you as you train and go through this new world of yours.” dad said. Mom and the Elders nodded in agreement. This is why I love my pack. They are ready to jump in and help Lexi with whatever she may need. “ So Elder Ross, you guys think you will be able to help me get control back and figure out this prophecy thing?” Lexi asked.
Before he can answer we hear the sound of running and yelling “ Tell me I’m not too late. Is she still here?” I hear my grandpa yell. What is he doing here? Did dad invite him? It would make sense since he knows about the prophecy from his father. Lexi is startled to see him running in the dining room like a mad man. She jumps up in a protective stance in front of me and holds her hand out. Her glow pulses out of her hand towards grandpa as Lexi calmly says “ Calm yourself sir.” I see a wave of light hit grandpa in the chest and he stops. He looks shocked and calm at the same time.
