Chapter 120

Lexi

Did I hear him right? He wants me to be his queen. No that can’t be right. “ I’m sorry. I think I miss heard you. Would you mind repeating that.” Even Embrose lookss shocked at the way Valerose is acting. “ I said I want you, Lexi. I want you to be my queen. To rule by my side.” he said with confidence. He was even a little smug. I hear growels coming from behind and beside me. I have Jesse, Tyler beside me. Behind me and spread out I have Melissa and several warriors from all three packs. Luther and Ryan had not been happy about not being here so they insisted on me having extra protection this week because we were sure when or if Valerose would show up. “You are serious.” I said shocked.

“ I am.” Valerose said. I linked my guards and warriors “ Cover me.” “ If you are telling the truth you won’t mind me doing a little test.” I said. “ Not at all.” Valerose said without a second of hesitation. I look at my guards to make sure they are looking out for me. When they nod I turn to Valerose. “ Arya, let’s do some digging.” I said. “ I can’t promise it will work on him because he is a vampire but I’m willing to try.” Arya said. Arya came forward to be with me. From what I understand I am one of the few people that can bring their wolf forward to work as a team in one form with out one of us taking over completely.

You can tell when Arya and I work together because my glow turns pure white. I focus on Valerose’s eyes and let my glow go out to him. I see Embrose out of the corner of my eye. His eyes look like they are going to pop out of his head and his jaw is on the ground. I still don’t have complete control over my glow so it envelopes Embrose as well as Valerose. I can feel a little about him not that I care. My focus was on Valerose. I can feel so many emotions coming off of him it is overwhelming. What is surprising is that he is telling the truth. Or at last he thinks he is. He seems to care for me. He can’t stand the wolves I surround myself with. But me, for some reason he wants by his side.

He is genuinely attracted to me. I can sense his confusion over his feelings. He couldn’t understand why he had such strong feelings for me. He doesn’t understand why he doesn’t want a war if it means hurting me. He doesn’t understand why he can’t touch another woman since he say my picture. That’s weird. Do vampire’s have mates? I’m guessing her doesn’t have one yet because he wouldn’t be infatuated with me if he did. And I sense loneliness not that he would ever admit it. There is so much coming off Valerose I am going to need some time to go through it. Time I don’t have right now. And I need to know what Arya may be seeing that I am not.
Then there is Embrose. He is along for the ride knowing I need to two mates. He is a playboy just in it for the a piece of ass. I’m pretty sure he is in it because of his friendship with Valerose and he could say he was banging the queen. Not going to happen buddy. “ What do you think Arya?” I asked as I pulled my glow back. “ I think we need to meditate to sort through everything. I think we may need to talk to mother as well. Lexi, I want to you to try something.” she said. “ What is it?” I asked. “ Two things. First, take a deep breath and tell me what you smell. Focus on Val. Second touch him.” Arya said. “ Arya what is going on?” I asked. “ I’m not sure. I think we need to test something. Then we need to talk to mother. Please do as I asked.” Arya pleaded.

I trust Arya with my life. She would never have me do anything that would hurt us so I do what she asked. First I take a deep breath just before my glow completely fades. That is odd. Valerose used to smell musky and a little like decaying leaves. Embrose still smells like that. Valerose’s smell has changed. Less decay more woodsy, like cedar. And the musk has changed too. It no longer smells like a dusty attic that has been locked up for years. It is a pleasant musk that has a hint of sandalwood and says Val is all man. “ I believe what you are saying Val. I do. I have a strange request if you would be willing to humor me for another moment.” I said to him.

“ What do you need?” he asked. Valerose iss not even questioning this things I am asking or doing. Does he truely trust me that much. “ He does. You felt it.” Arya said. “ I would like to hold you hand for a second.” I told him. He stands up and stand in front of me before I can blink. Jesse growls beside me “ I don’t think this is a good idea,my queen.” “ It may not be but Arya says it needs to be done.” I said. I quickly grab Val’s hand and almost let go in an instant. I felt a warm pulse go through me. Not like the full body finger in a light socket I get from my mates but it wasn’t unpleasant. Val seemed to be surprised as well judging by the look on his face.

I want to try one more thing. “ Arya help me out. I want to see if we can link him.” I said. Arya didn’t need to answer me. I could feel she was with me. “ Val, can you hear me?” I asked. His eyes got huge “ What the fuck. Did you just mind link me?” he asked. “ I did. And that shouldn’t be possible. At least I don’t think so.” I told him. Val looks like he doens’t know what to think. Not that I blame him. But I don’t trust him either. “” Arya, watch him.” I said. “ Val, is all of this your doing? Did you have your witches come up with some sort of spell or something?” I asked. “ I know you don’t trust me. But I swear I have no idea what is going on.” Val said.

“ I believe him, Lexi.” Arya said. I have to agree with her. I feel no deception coming from him. So if he isn’t behind this what the fuck is going on? “ Let’s deal with this later. Deal with the reason for meeting with Val in the first place.” Arya said. “ You are right.” I said. “ Of course I am.” she said. I shook my head at her antics. She can be a smartass most of the time. I take a step back so I can meet Valerose in the eye. “ I want to talk to you in private in a minute. But there are some things I need to say to the both of you. First Embrose you and me.” I said waving my finger between the two of us. “ Never going to happen. This.” I motion from the top of my head, down my body “ is only for my mates.”

I turn to Valerose. “ Val, I have to very protective mates that have marked me. If you want war I am prepared to give you one and win. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to keep my family safe. And by family I mean all shifters. The Goddess created me to protect all the super naturals. That includes you and Embrose. But if I have to destroy you two to do it I will. So you need to think long and hard about what you want to do.I don’t care how big your army is. Mine is bigger. Because one way or another I am going to bust my big ass to make sure everyone you have enslaved is free. I will make sure to find packs that will take them in and help them start their lives over. Only Goddess knows the hell you have put them through.” I said.

Embrose gets cocky and leans over so he can see my ass. “ I personally like your big ass.” he says earning a growl from my gaurds and surprisingly from Valerose. Emborse looked at Val in shock. So did I for that matter. Valerose said “ I don’t know what happened.” I stand down a little. I give him a small smile. “ Val, there is something new going on between you and me. I feel your honesty that you have nothing to do with it. When I leave here I will talk to mother to see if she knows what is happening. I suggest you talk to your witches so we can get to the bottom of this.” I said.

“ You can talk to the Goddess?” Embrose asked. “ Yes, I have a direct line to her. She is my mom afterall.” I grinned. “ This meeting definitely went differently than I expected. I agree, I need to talk with my witches to see what has changed. I still mean what I said. I want you, Lexi to rule by my side.” Valerose said. I hold my hand up to stop him from going further. “ What did you expect me to fall on my knees thanking you for the honor. That isn’t how I work. Ask my ex-mate if you don’t believe me.I will tell you I will think about what you have said. That is all I can give you. I think we should meet again next week to compare notes.” I said.

“ I agree to your terms. I will meet you on Monday at the same time as today.” Valerose said. “ Good. I will see you then.” I said. I motioned for my guards that we were done and linked the warriors they could stand down and relax a little. I turn my back on Val to walk to my next class. “ Hey, Lexi.” Val called out. I stopped and looked over my shoulder at him. “ Yes?” “ For the record your ass looks fabulous from back here.” he says. I laugh “ For the record you would look better without the jacket.” With that last word I walk off. I have a long few days ahead of me and I need to get to class.
