Chapter 95

We all watched Lexi run the field as Luther and I talked to the Alpha’s and Beta’s. Most seemed like they were willing to join up with Lexi.They were a few that looked like they needed more convincing. I will invite these guys to my pack if it helps. I will do anything to help Lexi. But so far she is doing well on her own. And I’ll admit it is fun watching these guys try to catch Lexi. Noone has been able to yet. A few have gotten close but Lexi dodges quickly. She is taunting them. “ Catch me if you can.” she giggles.

“ Is she putting on a show for us or is this how she normally is?” a Beta standing next me asked. I believe he is from one of the Wisconsin packs. “ No show. With Lexi what you see is what you get.” I told him. “ Are you just saying that because you are her mate?” he asked. I shake my head. I explained how Lexi and I met and how she didn’t accept me right away. She wanted to make sure I was up for the job. “ You see, Lexi knows who she is and won’t change for anyone. The way she figures it, you either like her or you don’t.” I said. The Beta nods.

Before he can ask another question I hear a shout. “ Watch out.” Everyone of us is on alert. Training suddenly stopped looking around for the threat. From the side of the field coming from the packhouse I see a small tan wolf running our direction with a frustrated young guy running after it. Luther grumbles “ Damnit Vinny.” The warriors part as Vinny darts in Lexi’s direction. Lexi stands still with her hands on her hips. I know the others are watching the scene with confusion.

Vinny gets about three feet in front of Lexi before she says “ Vinny, what do you think you are doing?” Vinny skids to a stop and lays down at Lexi’s feet. “ You know you aren’t supposed to run from Arron.” Vinny whines and rolls on his back. I have been watching Lexi with the wolves since I met her and it still shocked me how they interact. She treats them like children and they respond to her. They actually listen to her like they understand.

“ Is that a wild wolf?” the Detroit Alpha asks. Luther laughs “ Yes, it is.” Luther explains how spelled wild wolves have been sent out to kill Lexi. The first set were all killed but Lexi insisted as many as possible be kept alive. Luther told the Alpha that with a witch and Lexi’s help the spell had been removed and Lexi was just keeping them here until they were fully healthy again. “ Oh no, mister. Don’t try to act all sweet with me. You need to apologize to Aaron.” Lexi said. Aaron came running up “ Lexi, I’m so sorry.” he panted.

“ It isn’t your fault. How did he do it this time?” Lexi asked. “ Knocked my ass over before I could latch the pen.” Aaron said. Lexi looks down at Vinny who is sitting on his back paws looking down like he knows he is in trouble. This isn’t his first escape and I doubt it will be his last. And he never goes far. Just in search of Lexi. “ Vinny, that wasn’t very nice.” Lexi said. Vinny got on his belly and crawled over to Aaron and whimpered. Aaron laughed and petted Vinny’s head. “ I know buddy. You just wanted Lexi.”

“ Thanks Aaron. I’ll take care of him.” Lexi said. Aaron nodded and headed off the field. “ It isn’t fair for you to be here and not your brothers and sisters.” Lexi said before she did a high pitched whistle calling the other wolves. We all turn to the sound of paws. “ Wow, they listen to her. They act like pups.” Detroit Alpha said. I nod “ I know. It was weird the first time I saw it too. Watch.”

We watch as all ten surround Lexi and wait for attention from her. “ Come on babies. I want you to meet some new friends.” Lexi said. The wolves went to her sides and Vinny in the front. “ Alpha’s and Beta’s I would like you to meet some friends of mine” Lexi said. She went down the line calling each wolf out by name. “ My friends, these are some people visiting from other packs. What do we do?” Lexi asks. All of them bow their heads quickly.

I see several jaws drop and eyes pop out of heads. I know the feeling. “ Baby, why don’t you put the kids in their pen. We have several Alpha’s that would like a word with you.” Luther said. The wolves groan but follow Lexi but not before stopping by Luther and me to get a head scratch. Carmen whines at me. I kneel down and scratch between her ears “ I know. Go with Lexi and we will come out later with your snack.” I told her. I know if she understands me like she does Lexi but she listens.

While Lexi is gone Luther, Evan and I lead our guests into the packhouse dining room where the kitchen staff has snacks and drinks set up. There is even a covered plate with Lexi’s name on it. I grab a soda and grab a chair. Luther sits beside me. “ How many do you think Lexi will get to fight with her?” he asked. “ I figure about half now. And the rest after they have thought about it for a while.” I said. “ Yea, that sounds about right. I know we need the help but I don’t like the way some of these guys are staring at Lexi.” Luther said.

“ I get it man. I don’t like it either but I’m content in the fact that Lexi isn’t paying attention to any of them in anything but a professional way. I know she hasn’t noticed anyone looking at her with lust.” I said. When Lexi walked into the room all conversations stopped and attention was turned to her. “ Sorry to keep you waiting. Thank you for indulging me for a few minutes while I dealt with the wolves.” Lexi said.

I got a link from Arya while Lexi was talking, “ I wanted to talk to the kids. They are so cute.” I had to take a drink to keep from laughing at how silly she sounded. “ She sounded like Lexi when she saw a kid.” Luther linked. “ How are you adjusting to hearing me, Arya and Lexi?” I asked him. Lexi was sitting beside Evan, having her snack answering questions. “ Lexi, I was prepared for. You and Arya is going to take some getting used to. As long as Stone doesn’t chime in I’ll be fine.” he said.

“ Lexi, would you mind if my Luna joined us?” Mackinac Island Alpha asked. “ Oh, goodness. Where are my manners? Yes, please. That goes for the rest of you.” Lexi said. Within ten minutes all the Luna’s had arrived and were seated by their mates. “ Lexi while we were on the training field I was linking my Luna and Beta. I need to discuss it with my pack but you have my support. I would like to have some of my warriors train with the Elite team.” Mackinac Island Alpha said, his Luna nodding. His Luna added, “ We would also like to know if you would consider fostering our son for a few weeks so he can train?”

I didn’t see that coming. “ Thank you for your support. As far as fostering I leave that in Evan’s court.” Lexi said. “ I have no problem having your son come and train. Or your warriors. We can house five at a time.” Evan said. The Detroit Alpha stands next and bows “ My queen, I will talk with my pack. You have my support as well.” The more Alpha’s do the same. Some said they needed time to think. Lexi stood and let her glow pulse out to cover everyone in the room. “ I thank you all. Whether you fight by my side or not I implore you to prepare yourselves. When it comes time I will have Evan inform you so you can make sure your packs are safe. With that, enjoy the rest of your day and safe travels home. I will be around if anyone has further questions.” Lexi said.
