Chapter 25

Luther
We are sitting around the conference table. It is just a large table that could fit twenty. With the six Elders, Patsy, Jackson, Melissa, Jesse, Aiden, the Alpha, Luna,myself and Lexi we almost had it filled. Lexi and I didn’t say anything. I was going to let them do the talking. They said they had information we needed to know and I wanted it. I can help Lexi through her first shift but the glowing and anything else she might need I can’t. And if I can bring this information back to my Elders so they can help protect Lexi, my Luna. Even better.

Elder Standish stood and said, “ Lexi, since you have known me longer we thought you might be more comfortable with me.” Lexi just nods. She has my hand in a death grip like she is preparing for the worst. “ Lexi, I have to ask one question before we get started. Do you have a birthmark?” What an odd question. And why is it important? Lexi just nods, stands and turns around. I watch her pull her shirt to the side revealing a perfect paw print on her left shoulder.

“ The few people who saw it thought it was a tattoo but I have had it all my life.” Lexi said, putting her shirt back in place and sat back down. “ With Patsy’s help we went and looked at Elder Samuel things. We found some interesting things. About you Lexi.” Standish said. “ What about me?” Lexi, if we are right. And after everything we have read. Everything adds up. Lexi, my dear, you are the Prophecy Child.” Standish said.

“ I’m what?” Lexi asks, shocked. “ The Prophecy Child.” Elder Anderson said. “ Before we get into why you think that I’m some sort of Prophecy. How about you tell us what this thing is?” Lexi said. She wants to understand what they are talking about. She wants to understand everything going in. It is a good quality to have in a Luna. Lexi doesn’t know she is a Luna yet or what they are and is displaying qualities of one.

Elder Nyson stands “ Lexi, may I call you Lexi?” “ Yes, oh course.” Lexi answers. “ Good. Lexi, we found a prophecy that states a special child will be born to unite the packs against an ancient enemy. It said that she will bare the mark of the Goddess.” he says. They slide a large old musty book across the table with a picture of the exact mark Lexi has. Elder Zimmer continues “ When the child is born she will glow. She will be stronger, faster than any human or wolf. She can see and hear better as well.”

“ It is said that she will gain the rest of her powers after she gains her wolf. After her twentieth birthday.” Elder Trenton said. “ And if it is me how do I get my wolf?” Lexi asked. I’m wondering the same thing. Most get theirs when they are around fifteen. So earlier, some later. But that is normal. For Lexi to not have hers is odd but nothing about her fits what is normal in our world.

“ When you are fully, um.” Standish stutters. Why is he stuttering? I look at him and see he is blushing. Is he embarrassed? “ You will get your wolf after you are fully mated. To both her mates.” Standish said. Both her mates? Lexi has two. That explains Aiden I guess. But he wants to reject her. “ Does it say anything about what happens if one mate rejects her?” Alpha Cline asked. I know he is wondering about his son and I think part of it is he is worried about Lexi.

“ Yes, if on an off chance one mate rejects Lexi. She will be given a second chance mate immediately.” Standish said. “ And the one doing the rejection. What happens to him?” Alpha asks. “ He will have to prove himself to the Goddess to get another mate.” Standish said. So unless Aiden stops being a jackass he could be mateless for a long time. I like that idea after the jerk he was to Lexi.

But then it dawns on me that I have to share Lexi with some other Alpha. I’m not happy about it. At all. I want Lexi all to myself. And what if I can’t stand the guy? What if he is another asshole like Aiden? But I’m not going to reject Lexi because of it. It is out of her hands. And I’m not stupid enough to go against the Goddess. I’m sure she has a reason for giving Lexi two mates.
I see Aiden turn pale when he hears what Standish said. He knows he fucked up.
“ What else does it say? What about this ancient evil?” Lexi asks. Good point. We can figure out the mate stuff later. “ You will be given six guardians to watch over you. They will put your life before themselves.” Elder Carnos said. “ Well, that hardly seems fair. My life or the prophecies' life shouldn’t be held above others.” Lexi said. So selfless, my girl.

“ Lexi, you misunderstand. It is an honor to be chosen by the Moon Goddess to protect you.” Carnos said. “ I won’t argue. So while my brain isn’t fully overloaded yet. What’s next?” Lexi asked. They explain to Lexi that she will need to be trained on how to control her present powers and her new ones. We won’t know what her new powers are until they manifest. They tell her they will train her to fight and get used to using her hearing, and strength.

Then they explain the evil that she is up against. A vampire hell bent on ruling over the shifters. After they explain why they think Lexi is the child the Goddess chose, we sit and wait for Lexi to absorb what she just heard. With what I heard I believe they are right about Lexi. I will be by her side to help guide her in any way she needs. Even if it is just a shoulder to cry on when it all gets too much.

Suddenly Lexi jumps up “ Baby?” “ I just need to pace. It helps sometimes.” Lexi looks around the room. “ Is that ok? Am I being rude?” Lexi asks. She just had a shit load dropped on her and she is still worried about others. At every turn this girl blows me away. Everyone nods at her. I see her glow get bright, then dim. Darker and lighter. Her emotions are all over the place. I want to hold her but I don’t think she needs that right now.

“ I have questions. So many questions. And they are all jumbled in my head so they aren’t going to come out in any order. But if you could do your best to answer them that would be nice.” Lexi said. “ We figured you would. We will do our best.” Standish said. “ If I’m a shifter and so were my parents. Where is our pack?” They explain how her pack was destroyed after Lexi was placed into hiding. They believe by the same vampire that has been looking for her. A nasty fucker named Valorose.

“ And along with all the other training I will have to learn about mates and the whole wolf system. I’m sorry I don’t know the proper term.” Lexi asked. The answer to that was simply. Yes. “ And all of this was kept from me to keep me safe? That is why I have been living as human so a psychotic vampire wouldn't find me? Am I the only chosen one?” They answer yes to the first two but no to the third. Lexi is the only one alive. There was one before Lexi. According to the archives she was killed shortly after birth. Lexi is the only one in seventy five years. Most had given up hope.
