Chapter 81

Ryan

While safely sitting between Luther and me Lexi told us about the encounter she had with the men at the school. She could figure it out but something seemed off about him and made her uncomfortable. Their smell was off,not human or wolf. She said it was dusty, like entering an attic that has been locked up for years. And when she shook their hands they were ice cold. They were surrounded by humans so she couldn't use her glow to find out more. I was only half listening because my mind kept going back to Lexi’s wolf showing up. I was told she wouldn’t come out until the day after Lexi’s birthday. I’m going to have to find out more from Luther.

The way Alpha Evan reacted this isn’t the first time Lexi’s wolf has come forward. “ Lexi’s wolf is powerful. I could sense it. I can’t wait to meet her. I bet my front paw she is as beautiful as Lexi.” Stone said. “ I agree with you there on both parts. I could feel the power coming from her. Those two will be unstoppable when they get their full powers.” I said. Luther encourages Lexi to eat her snack while Alpha Evan explains “ Lexi, I think Valerose found you and may be investigating you. Those men you met may be Valerose and his second in command or men he sent to check you out.”

“ Why would he come to find me? How did he find me?” Lexi asks. “ My guess is he has had witches keeping an eye out for you for years. They would have felt your energy. I have a theory as to why he came to look for you. If he knows the prophecy as I suspect he does. He knows he won’t win. He either needs to kill you before you get your full powers. Or he is going to try to convince you to go over to his side.” Alpha Evan said. “ He has to know that Lexi is heavily guarded so I think he is going to try to win her over.” Luther said.

“ I agree. With all the power she is going to have Valerose would be a complete moron not to use it. Think of the damage she could do for him. If her powers are used for evil she could wipe out entire packs with the flick of her hand.” Freya said. In the wrong hands Lexi could be more dangerous than an atom bomb. If Valerose gets a hold of Lexi and turns her to his side it would mean the end of shifter. “ So what do we do? I will not be used for Valerose’s evil deeds. I would rather die before that happens.” Lexi said. At the thought of Lexi dying Stone whimpers. Not that I blame him.

I can’t imagine life without her. “ First thing is we step up your security. No matter where you go I want guards on you. In the packs I want at least two people with you at all times. When you are off pack lands I want four people with you. I’ll call Alpha Cline so we can use your guardians from there. Alpha Ryan, can you send at least one of Lexi’s guardians to help out?” Alpha Evan asked. “ Of course. And I want you to send one with Lexi when she is in my pack. I’ll even accept the guardians from Aspen Rain if it means Lexi is safe.” I said. I’ll even work with Aiden Lexi’s ex-mate if it means keeping her safe.

Luther kisses the top of Lexi’s head “ I’m going to go help dad for a bit. Finish your snack then take Ryan and go relax.” Lexi kisses Luther's cheek and smirks. “ Don’t worry, I will make sure Ryan is good and relaxed by the time you return.” she says. “Lexi, I need to talk to Luther for a second. I’ll be right back.” I told her before Luther and his dad headed down the hall. “ Is there something wrong, Ryan?” Luther asked. “ Lexi’s wolf, does she come out often?” I asked.

Luther explained to me the only times they have seen her come forward is when Lexi is under more stress than Lexi can handle. And she won’t tell anyone her name until she tells Lexi. “ She shouldn’t come out again tonight. But if she does just use the mate bond and reassure her Lexi is safe.” Luther said. I trusted him because he has dealt with this before so I went back to Lexi. She has just finished her snack. Lexi reaches out her hand to me and I grab it. She hops off her stool. “ Come with me. I need some Ryan time.” she says. I don’t know what that entails but I would follow her anywhere.

Lexi leads us through the kitchen to the stairs. I feel Stone push forward to see through my eyes. “ Man what an ass. I want to take a bite.” he pants. “ Down boy. You know we can’t have her for another week.” I said. “ Doesn’t mean we can appreciate the view. And touch her. Oh, yes. I want to touch her.” he groaned. I had to laugh. “ In time buddy.” I said. I must have laughed out loud because Lexi stopped and looked at me. “ Having a chat with your wolf?” she asked with a smile. I wasn’t going to lie to her “ Yes, I was.” “ A good chat I hope?” she asked as she pulled me to walk beside her. “ It was.” I said. “ What’s his name?” Lexi inquired. “ Stone.” I told her.

“ Will I meet him soon? Does he want to meet me? How does he feel about mating with me? Is he happy about it or does he resent me because he is my second mate? Does he want to reject me but you are fighting him?” Lexi asks. What the hell? Where are these questions coming from? “ I haven’t had a chance to talk to her yet. She has been hurt and she is nervous. She still doesn’t fully understand all this shifter stuff. It is still very new to her. Luther told us she had an attachment to Aiden’s wolf but not Aiden. Since I haven’t come forward Lexi is thinking I don’t want her.” Stone said. I hadn’t thought of that.

I pull back and let Stone talk to Lexi. It is long overdue. Stone turns Lexi to look at him. “ Hello my sweet mate.” Stone growls huskily to her. Lexi turns her head to the side and stares at us. “ Stone?” she asks unsure. “ Yes, my sweet. I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself before. Ryan and I thought it would be better if I answered your questions.” Stone told her. “ And do you have answers?” Lexi asked. “ Yes,my sweet. I have wanted to meet you but wanted to give you some time with Ryan first. I don’t resent you at all. Was I a little weirded out that you have two mates? Yes. But the Goddess is never wrong so I accept it. And when I found out who you are it makes sense so I’m not going to fight it.” Stone said. I could see Lexi relaxing at Stone’s words.

She was really worried about this. About Stone accepting her. “ So you are okay with being mated to me?” Lexi asked. We shake our head no. Lexi looks heart broken so Stone quickly says “ I’m not okay with it. I’m thrilled to have you as my mate. Ryan and I have waited for you for so long I was getting worried we would never find you. I don’t care who the world thinks you are. I just want the woman in front of me. I don’t care that she is the prophecy child. All I see is a sexy woman that the Goddess blessed me with. So okay isn't a strong enough word for what I feel.” I see Lexi’s eyes shining with tears but she is smiling so I am going to assume they are happy tears.

“ I didn’t know you were such a romantic, Stone” I laughed. “ Romantic or not, it is what she needed to hear,” he said. True. “ You and Ryan both feel that way?” Lexi asked, looking hopeful. “ Tell her I said yes.” I said. “ Ryan told me he does and will tell you when I give him back control.” Stone said. Lexi places a hand on our cheek and rubs her thumb across it. “ Thank you Stone for telling me. I didn’t know I needed it until you told me. I don’t feel the mate bond like you and Ryan or even Luther does. I’m relying on you guys to guide me. I feel small sparks and I’m drawn to you but that is it.The Elders said I would feel it stronger when I get my wolf. I want to say I’m sorry for that and for doubting but I know I did nothing wrong.” Lexi said.

Our poor mate is feeling so lost because she doesn’t understand and can’t feel what we feel. But she's also placing so much trust in us.I vowed right then to not let her down. “ Never apologize for your feelings, my sweet.” Stone said. “ Stone before you give control back to Ryan, can I ask for something?” Lexi asked. “ You can ask me anything.” Stone said. “ May I kiss you before you go?” Lexi asked. I watched her pale cheeks turn red. I was adorable.

Stone didn’t give her a chance to answer. He pulled her to our chest and slammed his lips on hers. Lexi wrapped her arms around our waist and kissed us back. Stone nipped her bottom lip and Lexi opened up for him. Stone shoved our tongue in her mouth and twisted it with hers. I could taste strawberries from her snack. I wanted more but as me. Lexi moaned and rubbed her chest against ours. I could feel her tight nipples through her shirt. Fuck I wanted my lips around them. I was getting hard and I knew she could feel it.I could smell Lexi’s arousal. It was the sweetest scent ever. I wanted to roll around in it.

Lexi pulled away first to catch her breath. She looked flushed in a good way. “ Thank you Stone. I would like Ryan back please. I want to play with him for a little while.” Lexi giggled. She could play with me for as long as she wanted. I wonder what she wants to do. I could go for a make- out session if that is what she has in mind. Stone gives her a quick peck before he gives me back control. “ Thank you Ryan for letting me talk to Stone.” Lexi said. “ Anytime you want to talk with him, just ask.” I said. “ And everything he said I feel too. Hope hope you never doubt it.” I continued.

“ I’m trying. But for now I think you need a reward for sharing me with Stone.” she said with a giggle. I’ll take whatever she gives me. I follow her the rest of the way up the stairs to the Alpha floor. I don’t ask any questions, just let her run the show. Whatever it is, Lexi is excited because she is practically skipping.
