Chapter 24

Lexi

Dr. Thorp said I was well enough to leave the hospital and go to the packhouse so I could eat with everyone else. They happen to be on the same grounds, walking distance from each other. The packhouse, that’s a laugh. The place is huge. More like a mansion on steroids. They told me they would give me a tour after we talked more. I was led to a large dining room, Well, more like a school cafeteria. There were six person tables three long and four wide. There was a buffet set up along the far wall. There was burger, fries, mac and cheese, potato salad, pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans and so many veggies I didn’t even bother counting. Jesse stayed by my side and led me through the line with the others.

Mr. and Mrs. Cline insisted Luther, Patsy and I sit with them.I could hear whispers all around me. The others wanted to know who I was. Who Luther was. Why were we sitting at the Alpha table? What made us so special? Blah, blah. I tried to tune it out and focus on my food. Then the bitchy comments started from several girls. What makes her so special? She isn’t even pretty. Why is Adien looking at the human? Why is Jesse beside the human? Humans don’t belong here. And my personal favorite, I bet I could snap her like a twig.

This came from a girl who in my opinion is dressed like a hooker. I heard her say that when she is Luna she is going to make sure everyone bows down to her. She will make everyone obey her and do whatever she wants them to do including get rid of me. And how the Alpha and Luna were too soft hearted. She was going to rule not only this pack but all the others as well. She wanted Aiden by her side so they could conquer the other packs so she would be like a queen. And she didn’t care who she had to hurt or kill to get what she wanted. .

That was when I had had enough. I was so angry I bent my fork in half. I let all my anger out. I thought about the innocent people this girl wanted to hurt just because she wanted power. I didn’t even understand what she was talking about. But I know she wants to hurt people and I can’t stand by and listen to this shit. I don’t even want to be in the same room as her. And how is no one else even bothered by this. If I heard it then I know someone else had to hear it.

I push my plate away and stand up. And you guessed it, I'm glowing. “ Lexi, is something wrong?” Mrs. Cline asks. “ Yes,ma’am. I would like to leave. Now.” I said. I could still hear that bitch going on and on about how she was going to rule. The more she went on the more I wanted to bitch slap her into the next century. “ You are free to leave of course. But may I ask why?” Mr. Cline asked. I looked at him like he was stupid. Was he going to sit there and pretend he can’t hear her? Is he fucking kidding me?

I slammed my hands down on the table so hard it cracked. Not just where my hands were. No, it splintered out like a spiderweb. “ Are you serious? You are just going to sit there and ignore that one of these people is talking about killing in the pursuit of power. That when she becomes Luna, whatever that is she will make people bow to her. Are you insane? Or do you just not care. And if that is the case then I have no use for people like you.”

Some older guy at the other end of our table stands up and shouts “ Who the hell do you think you are? You can’t talk to the Alpha that way. You are just a human.” They have a psycho planning to kill people and he is worried about me yelling at Mr. Cline. What kind of fucked up place is this? Jesse , Melissa, Jackson and Luther jump up and growl at the guy who yelled at me. But I’m at my wits end with these morons. No wonder Aiden is such a dick. And not in a good way.

I turn to the guy and let go of everything I have. “ Sit down and shut up, asswipe. I don’t care who you people are. You will not yell at me. Not when I can hear the words of a power hungry bitch determined to destroy not only you but other packs as well. And you want to yell at me about my manners and do nothing about it. Fine,you can do that after I leave. But until I do sit down. Now.” I yelled with everything I had.


My voice echoed through the room. And several people bow their heads. The guy who yelled at me is on his knees, his eyes wide as saucers and he is pale. I turn to Luther “ I’m leaving. You can stay with these imbeciles if you want.” Luther jumps up from his seat and wraps his arm around my waist. “ Come on,baby. Let’s get you home.” he says.

Before I can get two steps Mr. Cline jumps up and runs to me. “ Lexi, wait. Please. There is so much you need to know. And I need to know what you are talking about. You said you heard one of my members say those things. But I never heard anyone say it.” How is that possible? If I heard it he had to have heard it. “ Mr. Cline, I thank you for your help while I was injured. If I need to find what you know I will find another way. I’ll see if Luther can help me.” I said. “ Anything for you.” Luther said.

“ But I can’t stay.” I said. Mr.Cline asked “ Could you tell me what you heard?” I explain everything I heard word for word. “ I don’t understand much of what she said. But I do know she has big plans to hurt people.” I told him. “ Can you point this person out?” Mr. Cline asked. I’m about to shake my head when I hear her talk again “ I can’t believe the Alpha is listening to her. Who does she think she is?” I tune her in and spot her quickly.

I point her out to Mr. Cline and the next thing I know two burly guys are making her stand up and come over to us. Aiden comes over as well. The girl bows. What is up with that shit. “ Carmen, I was told some very interesting things. Do you want to explain yourself?” Mr.Cline asked. He explained what I told him. “ Alpha I would never do such a thing. Are you going to believe this human over me?” she sneers.

I don’t know what possessed me to do it but I turned around and looked her in the eyes making sure she could see mine glow. “ You are lying. Speak the truth. NOW.” I yelled. Carmen paled and shook her head but could stop herself from opening her mouth. “ Yes, I said it. Or I thought it. I’m supposed to be Luna. Aiden is supposed to be my mate but the Moon Goddess fucked up and didn’t give him his mate yet. He is supposed to choose me so we can rule together. Everyone is going to bow to me. Even you, Alpha and Luna. You will all bow to me. This pack and every other pack. We will take over. ” Carmen said.

Everyone in the room gasps at what Carmen just said. When she realizes what she did she shakes her head and tries to take it back. “ No, I didn’t mean to say that. That isn’t what I meant.” she stammered. But I think the damage was done already. “ Take her away.” Mr. Cline said. Carmen starts yelling “ Aiden don’t let them do this. You know we will be good together. I can be a good Luna. You probably would have already chosen me if Razor didn’t get in the way. Aiden stop this, please.”

Aiden doesn't make a move to stop the two guys from dragging Carmen away. I can’t help myself. I turned to Aiden “ So you wanted a nut job instead of a human.” I used air quotes on the human part. Because if what they say is true then I’m not fully human. “ Good job with that.” I laughed. Luther was laughing with me. “ Let’s go.” I said. Mr. Cline reached and gently took my hand. “ I would like to ask. How did you get Carmen to tell the truth?” he said.

I shook my head “ I don’t know if I did. I have never done anything like that before. At least not that I know of.” I looked around and saw the table I broke. Shit. “ I’m sorry for my outburst and for what I did to the table. Usually I have more control than that.” I said. Professor Standish or I guess Elder Standish comes up. “ Lexi, don’t worry about the table. After what I saw I think you should stay and hear what we have found out. We will do it in private. Just essential people. I think it would be in your best interest. We might be able to help you.” he said.

I wasn’t sure I wanted to be around these people anymore. They are rude and a few are nuts. Pasty walked up and put her hand on my shoulder “ Sweety, what harm will it be to hear them out. Who knows, maybe they can help you.” she said. “ Luther?” I asked. I am not sure why but I want his input on this as well. He has been b y my side since the beginning of this shit show. I should include him. Luther places his hands on my shoulders and looks me in the eyes.

“ Baby, I will help you anyway I can. If they have knowledge that I don’t that will help I would like to hear it. I can help you with the wolf part. But you are also so much more than just that. So the more we know the better off we will be.” I hate it when he is right. “ And you will be with me?” I asked. Luther smiles before he pulls me in for a hug. “ There is no way you are getting rid of me,” he said. I smile against his chest. “ Let’s do this then. But I would like Jesse, Melissa and Jackson there too. If they are willing.” I said. “ We can make that happen. We will go to our conference room.” Mr.Cline said. I’m being led away again.
