Chapter 102
Luther
I woke up to movement. I looked down and saw Lexi’s legs intertwined with mine. Her head on Ryan’s chest, her arm wrapped around his waist. I saw Ryan trying to lift Lexi’s arm and scoot out from under her. “ You alright, man?” I linked him. “ Yea, I just can’t sleep,” he linked back. “ Want me to help move her?” I asked. “ I was going to get up so I don’t disturb the both of you. But she has a good hold on me.” he laughed. “ I warned you she likes to cling in her sleep.” I chuckled. “ Yea, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.” Ryan said. He is right about that.
We stayed in silence for a few minutes. “ Want to talk about what’s on your mind?” I asked him. We are a unit. We are supposed to work as a team. If I can help him sort out what is bothering him I will give it a try. “ You mean besides this bullshit with Valerose. It is my mom and Lexi’s idea about merging the packs.” Ryan said. “ I’m going to take a page from Lexi’s book. Let’s take one thing at a time. We can’t do shit about Valerose right now so what about the other two is bothering you?” I asked.
“ The merging of the packs. Do you think it can be done?” he asked. How many times have I asked myself the same question? “ A complete merge, no. I don’t think it would work well. At least not at first.” I said. We are still talking through link so we don’t wake Lexi. “ You have thought about it too, I see.” Ryan said. “ Yeah, hard not to sometimes.” I said. Ryan explains hows he and his dad were looking at maps of the area between his pack and mine to get an idea of building a packhouse is even an option. But didn’t get far because he dropped everything to come check on Lexi.
“ Alright, after breakfast we will talk to your dad. See if he came up with anything. Now what about your mom? I get you are still pissed at her. I don’t blame you. Are you going to talk to her?” I asked. Even though I’m not touching Ryan I know he tensed up. “ I know I need to talk to her. I just don’t want to. After the shit she pulled.” Ryan growls. We hear another growl from between us. We both look down but it looks like Lexi is still sleeping. “ It wasn’t Lexi. She is still resting.” Arya said. “ Arya is Lexi okay?” Ryan asked. “ She is fine. I have a block in place so she can sleep. She needs it.” Arya said. “ Why are you awake?” I asked. And how is she awake but not Lexi?
Arya giggles. She fucking giggles. “ I was having a nice chat with Stone and Diesel.” she said. How and the hell can they do that? I didn’t notice Diesel awake and he was talking to Arya. “ That is because I blocked you. It was a private conversation.” Diesel said. Ryan looks at me like what the fuck? I don’t blame him. “ I’ll explain later. Or Lexi will with my help. I growled because you were talking about Skyline. I’m sorry,Ryan but I saw what she did to my Lexi. I don’t like her very much.” Arya said.
I can feel her emotions and Ryan’s too. Suddenly we are surrounded by a purple glow. “ Even asleep Lexi can feel how stressed we are. She is calming us.” Arya said. “ Rest Arya. I will talk this out with Ryan.” I said. “ Let Luther deal with Ryan. Come back to us.” Stone said. I’m still not used to this shit. Arya giggles then silence. Lexi hasn’t moved at all through all of that. “ You know what? I will just suck it up and go talk to my mom with Lexi. I’ll hear her out. We have much more important things that need our attention.” Ryan says.
“ I can go with you guys if you want. You know, a united front.” I offered. “ Yes,man. I would appreciate that.” he said. “ Good. We will do it after breakfast if Lexi is ready. Then we can focus on everything else that needs our attention. Remember you don’t have to do all of this alone anymore.” I told him. “ I’ll do better at remembering that.” he laughed. I hear giggling in the back of my mind and a masculine groan. I look at Ryan and he just shrugs his shoulders. “ We have a lot to talk about with Lexi and Arya.” I said.
We make it down to breakfast three hours later. It took that long for Lexi to wake up and finally get out of the shower. So maybe Ryan and I helped with the delay in the shower. What can I say we wanted to make sure she was good and clean. We eat with everyone else and chat. I’m getting to know this pack just as much as Lexi. Though they have accepted Lexi quicker than me. It is taking them time to adjust to having two Alphas. I’m not pushing them to like me. “ Dad, we are going up to see mom when we are done. Afterwards can we meet with you before we head out to check on the warriors?” Ryan asks. “ Sure I can meet you in your office. Just link me when you are ready.” Kent said. “ Do you want me to come with you to see your mom?” Kent asked. “ No, dad. I think this is something the three of us have to do alone.” Ryan said.
Kent nods in understanding. We finish and Ryan leads us up to his mom’s suite. Lexi being her silly self insists Ryan carry her up on his back. I think she is doing it to help keep Ryan calm. We get to the door and greet the warrior standing guard. “ Hey, Sam.” Lexi giggles from Ryan’s back. The warrior bows “ Luna. Alphas.” Then he opens the door for us. We walk into the living room and see Ryan’s mom sitting on the couch. Skyline turns around to look at us. I can tell she wants to say something about the way we came in but she holds it. I don’t think she wants to risk pissing Ryan off.
“ Ryan, you came.” she said. “ Dad said you wanted to see me and Lexi.” Ryan said as he squatted down. I reached over and helped Lexi off his back. Once Ryan was sure Lexi was on her feet he stood again. “ Yes, I was hoping I could speak with the both of you. I didn’t know you would be bringing him.” Skyline said. Him being me. I bet the woman doesn’t even know my name. “ You mean that you didn’t think Luther, Lexi’s other mate and the third member of our team would be here. Does it bother you that he is here supporting us? Or does it shock you that he would want to be included in everything that concerns Lexi and me?” Ryan asks.
We just got here and the woman is close to Ryan and us walking out. Skyline shakes her head “ I’m sorry. Let me start over. Please have a seat.” Ryan and I both looked at Lexi. “ Give her one more shot, love. If she pisses you off again we can leave.” Lexi links. Then she smirks “ Or I could handle her.” Ryan kisses Lexi’s forehead then escorts her to a large couch opposite Skyline. I follow and sit beside Lexi sandwiching her between us.
