Chapter 139

Luther

After I passed out I didn’t know much of what was going on around me. I could hear muffled voices and felt when I was moved. I don’t know how long I was out. I was worried until Deisel told me he was healing us as fast as he could. But he said we needed to stay asleep so we could conserve our energy. He wanted us to heal as fast as possible so we could back to Lexi. Diesel could feel her worry through our bond. She was scared and all we wanted to do was hold her and tell her everything would be fine. I know Ryan will take care of her until we can wake up. Just before everything goes silent I hear Lexi talking to Deisel and him reassuring her that we will be fine after some rest.

The next thing I feel is a warm body pressed against my side shooting sparks throughout my body. Lexi. Her smell surrounds me. I feel calm so she must be projecting. Not that I need it. Just having her close calms me. I listen to Lexi tell me to rest. That they are right here for me. Then I hear her talking about getting a naughty nurse outfit to nurse me back to health. That piqued my interest. I may have to milk this injury just a little to see that. I heard Ryan growl at the thought and Lexi giggle. I love that sound. I want to talk to them but I am too damn tired right now.

So I listen to them talk while Lexi holds me with her head on my chest. The longer they talk the heavier Lexi’s head gets. Her breathing starts to even out. I know she will be asleep soon. I was right. I could feel her breathing on my chest. Ryan kept talking to me. Letting me know he was there waiting for me to wake up. I guess Deisel had enough of Ryan’s constant talking so he helped me wake up enough to talk to Ryan. And Yes, I told the man I loved him. Not in a sexual way. I’m not in love with him either. But I also can’t imagine not having him in my life. With Lexi, we all fit.

Ryan and I talked quietly while Lexi slept. Ryan figured that between using her powers, the adrenaline and the stress of getting hurt were draining her. Ryan filled me in on what happened after I passed out. It wasn’t long before Dr. Thorp walked to check on me along with Calissa and Henry. Calissa looked at Lexi and smiled warmly. That is when I finally noticed the glow that surrounded all three of us. “ Young Alpha, it is good to see that you are awake. How are you feeling?” he asked low enough to not disturb Lexi. “ Sore, stiff and tired,” I told him the truth. “ You sustained a penetrating wound that bled profusely. Everything you are feeling is normal and will pass soon. You will need a few days of rest and you should be feeling back to your old self.” Thorp said.

Ryan laughs “ Before you know it you will chasing Lexi and Arya around.” “ Mmm, we like that idea.” comes Lexi’s soft voice. I look down at her and smile when I see she has lifted her head. She smiles back at me. “ You have no idea how happy I am that you are awake. You scared the shit out of us,” she said. “ I will do my best,” I told her and kissed her forehead. I watch her eyes as Arya pushes forward. I pull back a little and let Deisel come forward. “ Diesel, love. You better tell me that you are alright.” Arya growls but I could hear the worry in her voice. Arya is usually strong, sassy and full of confidence. To hear her sound scared it got to both of us. And we never want to hear it again.

Diesel growls “ I swear we are fine. Don’t fret yourself any more about this.” I highly doubt the girls will listen. It is in their nature to worry about us. It is no different than if Lexi were to get hurt again. I just don’t want her to live in fear of us getting hurt. Arya growls one more time before handing over control to Lexi “ You better not get hurt so bad again or you will be on the couch for a week.” Diesel chuckles “ Yes dear.” We knew that was the only answer to give. They weren’t asking us not to get hurt. Just not as bad.

The entire room chuckles. Lexi sits up and greets everyone. “ So Thorp can I take him home?” Good question. I don’t want to stay here any longer than I have to. Don’t get me wrong Calissa and Henry are great. I just don’t want to be around Aiden any longer than I have to. “ I want to check your wound one more time. If I don’t see any problems then I will release you.” Thorp said. Thank the Goddess. “ Luther, your parents sent a car for you guys to return home. Your mom asked that you go see her as soon as you get home. I would link her soon so she knows you are alright. Just to make her feel better. She must be freaking out. I know I would be if I found out my son got hurt and couldn’t link him. No matter how mad he makes me.” Calissa said making Lexi giggle.


“ I will. Thanks for the message. And thank you for taking us in.” I said. And meant every word. Calissa and Henry have been kind to Lexi and me since I met them. Even after the shit show caused by her son. Calissa waved her hand to brush off my comment. “ Don’t worry about that. We are happy to help. Just don’t make a habit of it.” Calissa chuckles. Much to my disappointment Lexi got up and goes to sit on Ryan’s lap while Thorp checked me over. I wanted to hold her a little longer. I just hold her on the drive home. No, I’m not jealous of Ryan. We are always holding Lexi in one way or another. Usually in our lap. I just wanted a few more minutes with her.

I sat up in the bed then Thorp pulled off my bandage and I got a good look at my wound. I had five slices down my side from the vampire's claws. I will I could have killed the fucker myself but having Lexi blow him up is just as good. The wound isn’t completely closed yet but I can see Deisel is working on it. “ It is looking good. A day of rest and you will be as good as new. However, you should take it easy for at least two days.” Thorp told me. Thorp turns to Lexi and says “ Luther should avoid strenuous activity for those two days.” Lexi giggles “ Got it. I will make sure he doesn’t move a muscle. I even pin him down if I have to.” I like her idea. Lexi pinning me to the bed in a naughty nurse costume. Or better yet naked. Thorp cleaned his throat “ I figured you would make sure he listens to doctor orders. We found no toxins or poisons in the sample we collected so I have no problem releasing him.”

“ Thank you, Thorp,” Lexi said. “ I will go get the release papers,” Thorp said and walked out. Lexi jumped off Ryan’s lap and carefully climbed onto mine. She wraps her arms around my neck and lays her head on my shoulder. “ Lexi dear, I know you are excited to take Luther home. What do you want to do with your prisoner?” Henry asked. Lexi lifts her head “ I forgot all about him. Luther, do you mind if we make a stop before we go?” “ Sure baby. What do you want to do?” I asked. Lexi gets what I can only describe as an evil grin. Something I have never seen her so before. “ Send a message to not fuck with us,” she said with Arya. This is going to be fun to watch.
