Chapter 140
Lexi
After Luther was released Henry reluctantly escorted us to the cells. He didn’t like the idea of me going down there to do the interrogation. Not that he didn’t think I was capable of doing it. He just didn’t the cells were a place for me or any woman for that matter unless they were a prisoner or a guard. He wouldn’t let Calissa down there. I was convinced that I would be fine and one of the few people who could handle the vampire prisoner. Not many have dealt with vampires before. Thanks to the gifts Mother gave me and Arya as well as the training I have received I am more qualified than anyone. And I was pissed that they hurt my mate. I’m getting my revenge. Not to mention I need to send a clear message to Val that he fucked with the wrong family.
Henry leads us away from the pack house the very edge of the woods to what looks like an old barn. A guarded barn with a metal door that has a keypad entry. Henry nods to the guard and punches in the code. I turn my head to give him some privacy. The door beeps and Henry opens it letting, Luther, Ryan, Aiden ( yes he is here too.) and I go first. When I pass the guard bows “ My queen.” Wow I didn’t know most of Aiden’s pack knew about me. I guess I looked confused because when Henry closed the door behind him he came to my side and said “ I made sure everyone in our pack knows who you are. After the rejection, I called a pack meeting to make sure everyone knew you were our queen and should be treated with respect or face the consequences. “
I stop walking and kiss Henry on the cheek. “ Thank you, Henry.” I am not part of his pack. I’m no longer his son’s mate. I’m nothing to him technically. But he is still making himself available to me if I need him. He always has a hug for me. And to announce to his pack that I am the queen and daughter of the Goddess. That meant a lot to me. Henry escorted us down the hall lined with cells. Henry explains they are for low-grade offenders. Petty crimes or just cooling off when a wolf gets out of control. At the end of the hall is another door with another keypad. When Henry opened the door I saw a metal staircase that led down.
We let Henry lead the way from here since he knew where he was going. He led us down two flights of stairs to the basement. Henry told us that is where they keep the worst of the worst. He figured it would be the perfect place to house our menace vampire. I have to be honest. I have never seen a prison before. Or a dungeon. What I had imagined is not what I am seeing. Everything is clean smelling. The floors are made of concrete but are well-maintained. The overhead lighting was harsh and kept the hall bright.
I could see into all the cells to see a bed, a sink and a toilet. That is it. Basic setup. I expected to smell blood or mold, maybe even piss. Nope. I did get a strong scent of disinfectant. Most of the cells were empty but the last on where Henry had put the vampire. Henry stopped us just before we got there. “ Lexi, dear. I have to ask one more time. Are you sure you want to do this? Aiden and I can interrogate him. Luther and Ryan can be present if you want. ” I take a deep breath and tell Henry the truth. “ Lexi, the girl that hates violence, doesn’t want to have any part of this. Lexi/Arya, daughter of the Moon Goddess knows I have to do this. I need to show our enemies that we aren’t to be fucked with. We need to send them a clear message that there are consequences for attacking us.” I told him.
I say Luther and Ryan smile proudly at my words. Even Henry was smiling. Aiden looked unsure but who cares what he thinks. “ As you wish,” Henry said turning towards the cell at the end. I let my white glow out, held my head high and followed Henry with Ryan and Luther beside me presenting a united front. When we get to the cell the vampire is lying on the bed staring up at the ceiling not even acknowledging us. “ Like I told the other guy. I’m not talking. Doesn’t matter what you do.” he said.
I pushed my glow out so it would go into the cell. “ I bet I can make you talk.” Arya and I said. The vampire jumped up off the cot like he was jolted with electricity and looked at me. “ What do you want?” he asked but he wasn’t as confident as he was before. “ I want you to pass along a message to Valerose for me,” I told him with full authority in my voice. “ What if I don’t want to.” he asked. “ I never said you had a choice,” I told him. I turn to Henry. “ Would you open the door, please?” I asked. Henry looks unsure at first but does as I ask. Deep down Henry knows the vampire won’t hurt me. It can’t. I would burn him up before he could touch me. There is a part of him that still sees me as a daughter. I don’t have the heart to make him stop.
I walk just inside the cell door. The vampire tries to back up but the cot doesn’t let him go far. He falls back on the cot never taking his eyes off of me. I made a light red glow surround him and asked “ Now are you going to help me willingly or am I going to force you?” “ Beat me all you want. I’m not helping you, bitch.” he growled. Or tried to. It came out more like a growl from a newborn pup. No power or menace behind it. I would have laughed if I didn’t need to come across as stern, a badass if you will. This is not the time for jokes. I will laugh my ass off later.
“ That sounds like he wants to do things the hard way. What do you think my loves?” I asked looking over my shoulder at Luther and Ryan. “ Definitely the hard way.” Ryan agrees with me. “ Oh, yeah,” Luther says. That’s good enough for me. “ Arya, you ready?” I asked her. “ Let’s show this bastard what happens when you come after us and hurt our mate or any of us. Let’s make sure the message is loud and clear,” she said. That was all I needed to hear. I turned my full attention to the now confused vampire. “ Let me try a few tricks Standish taught me,” I said. I used one power to hold him still. I didn’t want him trying to escape me. Or moving too much. Once I knew he wasn’t going to move I sent a burning blast to his shoulder. This blast starts like a sunburn but gets increasingly hotter until it feels like it is going to burst into flames. Water won’t get rid of the pain. It finally fades after a few hours. But leaves a permanent mark that spreads out like a spider web from the point of impact.
Next, I ball my fist up and do three rapid punches to his face. I broke his nose, jaw and the bone around his eye. I added some extra power to it so he can’t use his rapid healing. After that I let Arya take control. She extended her claws and slashed his chest repeatedly. She loved hearing him scream. I was getting a little worried that she might not stop and was relieved when she did. She leaned forward and whispered in his ear making sure he understood every word. When she is done she gives me back control. “ Make sure he gets the message,” I said.
I turned to Henry “ Will you have some men escort him to the border of the pack? If he falls a few times that is alright with me. He looks like a clumsy guy.” Henry laughs “ Of course.” With that, I linked my arms with Ryan’s and Luther’s “ Let’s go home, my loves. I have a mate to take care of.”
