Chapter 137

We were able to go straight to the pack hospital and Thorp was waiting at the door for us. Jesse slammed the truck into park and got out. I followed and opened the back door. Ryan jumped out then turned around reached in and grabbed an unconscious Luther bringing him out. Thorp rushes over with a gurney. Ryan places Luther on it and Throp takes off inside the hospital, down the hall, into an exam room. Ryan and I try to follow but Throp stopped us. “ My queen, I have to ask you to stay out here and let me work,” he said. “ But, it is Luther,” I whined. Throp placed his hands on my shoulders earning a growl from Ryan. Thorp quickly removed his hands and said “ I know he is you mate. You have my word I will give him my best care. Just as I did with you.”
“Yeah, okay,” I said reluctantly. “ Good, now my don’t you and.” Throp left off looking at Ryan. “ Oh sorry, Dr. Throp this is my other mate Alpha Ryan from Iron Mountain. Ryan this is Dr. Thorp. He treated me after the first attack from rabid wolves.” I said. Thorp nods his head to Ryan. “ Alpha, as I said I will take good care of Luther. Now why don’t you and our queen go with the Alpha and Luna and get cleaned up.” Throp said then pointed behind us. I saw Henry and Calissa coming over to us. Calissa grabbed me into a bear hug. Or is it a wolf hug? When she had her fill she pulled back, holding me at arm's length. “ Aiden told us what happened. Are you alright? Did you get hurt?” she asks as she looks me over.
“ I’m fine. It’s Luther. He got hurt and passed out.” I said as I look at the room Luther was in. I know he is still alive because of our bond. That helped me cope but I could feel like he was in pain. I didn’t like it. “ Lexi, let me and Henry take you and Ryan to get cleaned up while Thorp works,” Calissa said putting her arm around my shoulder. I look back at the door Luther is behind. It doesn’t feel right to leave him. I should be at his side.
I feel Ryan wrap his arm around my waist. “ Honey, I know you want to be with Luther. I get it. The best thing we can do right now is get cleaned up and changed into some clothes that aren’t covered in blood.” Ryan said. That is when I look down at my clothes and arms. Then I look at him. He is right we are both covered in blood and what looks like ash. “ Yeah, I would like to clean up. Do you have something I could borrow?” I asked. “ I’m sure we can find something for both of you,” Calissa said guiding me down the hall. “ Wait,” I call out. “ What is wrong?” Ryan asked. “ We will be right back, right? And what about the warriors that fought with us? I need to check on them.” I said.
“ Yes, we will come right back. And don’t worry about the warriors. I talked with Aiden and Melissa. The warriors that fought are being looked after and most have started healing.” Calissa told me. Good, that is good. I think to myself as I let Calissa lead me away to get cleaned up. Instead of taking Ryan and I to the back house Calissa lead us to an empty room in the hospital. “ You two go in and shower. Lean on each other and comfort each other. You need to. I will go check on the clothes I asked for.” she said and left the room. Ryan grabbed my hand and led me to the shower. He picked me up and set me on the counter sink while he turned the shower on.
After he tested the water, he came back over to me. “ Honey, let’s get you undressed. The sooner we get cleaned up the sooner we get back to Luther.” Ryan said. I jumped off the counter, stripped, then jumped in the shower. I heard Ryan chuckle behind me. As soon as the hot water I took a deep breath. I pressed my head against the wall and just let the water run over me. Every breath I let out I let out some of the stress of the day. Ryan climbs in the shower with me, wraps his arms around my waist and lays his chin on my shoulder. “ Honey, he is going to be fine. He is a lot stronger than some punk vampire.” Ryan said.
I let out another breath then lean back into him. “ I know in my head you are right. But my heart is another story. Even Arya is whimpering.” I told him. Ryan began washing me and asked “ Have you tried talking to Deisel? Maybe that will help to calm you down.” I hadn’t thought of that. “ You are still getting used to being able to talk like that. Give it a try.” Ryan said. I let Ryan finish washing me while I tried to link Deisel. “ Diesel, honey. Are you alright?” I asked worried about the answer. “ We are fine. Tired but healing,” he answered. “ And Luther?” “ Resting but will be fine,” Diesel said. I could hear how tired he was just from his voice. “ But he was bleeding badly. And he passed out.” I said.
“ Yes he is fine. I promise.” Diesel said. I could tell he was the more he talked to me the more exhausted he got. “ Rest, my love. Heal. I will see you soon.” I told him and cut off the link. Ryan turned me around to face him. He wipes my eyes. I didn’t even notice I was crying. “ I take it you talked,” Ryan said. “ Diesel said they were healing and tired,” I told him. “ Good. Let’s finish and get back to him.” Ryan said. It was then I noticed Ryan was a little agitated. “ Honey, are you alright? Are you upset with me?” I asked. Ryan shook his head “ No, I am not upset with you. I’m worried same as you.” That is when it dawned on me. The bond. Yes, I feel it but so does Ryan. He is connected to Luther as well. Not in the exact way I am but connected nonetheless. Like brothers. I was just thinking of myself and how I felt. Damn, I’m selfish.
I wrap my arms around Ryan’s waist, place my head on his chest and hugged him as tight as I could. We stayed like that for a couple of minutes just leaning on each other support. “ I’m sorry Ryan. I should have asked how you were feeling. I was stuck in my own head.” I said against his chest. My words were most likely muffled but I know he heard me. “ It is fine. We will get through this the same way we have gotten through everything else so far. And the same way with anything in the future. Together as a team.” Ryan said. After that talk, we finished our shower, dried off and got dressed.
