Chapter 154

Ryan


I was shocked when Valerose showed up. I figured he would fight the mate pull a little longer. Luther and I stayed close to Lexi but this was her show. We were going to let her deal with him how she saw fit. It would end one of two ways. She was going to accept him or reject him. If a fight broke out she was going to kill him. Luther and I were just there to support her in whatever choice she made. When he freed those wolves I knew he made his choice to accept Lexi. It was a good move on his part.

Then the Goddesses showed up. I swear nothing should surprise me anymore. Not with Lexi around. From the way, she brought packs that had never been associated with each other together. Or the way she handles two mates. Now three. Don’t get me wrong, Lexi made Valerose work for claiming her. I had to hold in my laughter watching this powerful vampire look so confused and unsure. Only Lexi could bring a fearless vampire to his knees. Literally. When she wanted him to prove his love by kissing her I thought he might pass out. The smart vampire he is Valerose checked with Luther and me before he touched Lexi. I know he was checking to see if we would attack him.

When Lexi announced it was time to party Valerose looked lost. I guess the guy doesn’t party much. Neither do Luther, Lexi and I but when we do Lexi lets loose. Not in a bad way. She just lets everything melt away. She says we put everything else aside and just enjoy the company of our friends. That’s how Lexi sees every person here. As a friend. I see Lexi look at Isabelle and Embrose. I know she is going to approach them before she does anything else. Those two are mates but neither is reacting to it. I can’t image what is going through their heads. Lexi turns back to us.

“ Loves, we will have fun in a few minutes. There is something I need to help with first.” Lexi said making sure to include all three of us. Luther smiles “ Do your thing, baby. We are right behind you.” Valerose still looks confused and not sure what to do. I decided to throw the guy a bone. Luther and I need to talk to him anyway. “ Just follow Lexi’s lead. We are only here for support for what she is fixing to do.” Lexi looks over to where Isabelle and Embrose are standing as she walks down the stairs. She sees Embrose start to walk off as Isabelle shakes her head. Lexi raises a blue glowing hand and shouts. “ Embrose, freeze.” just a a blast of blue light shoots out of her hand hitting Embrose. He stops moving. Stuck mid-stride.

Lexi giggles “ I can’t believe that worked.” I have to stop myself from doubling over laughing. Isabelle doesn’t even try. She is holding her sides laughing. I hear Luther and Valerose snicker. When we walk the ten feet from the steps to Isabelle she has gotten herself under control. “ Isabelle with me.” Lexi’s Luna voice orders. Isabelle straightens up, goes to warrior mode and immediately goes to Lexi’s side. I notice the other guardians that are still close by stand alert.

When Lexi stands in front of Embrose, Isabelle stands to her left. Luther, Valerose and I stand at her back about three feet. Giving them a little privacy but at the ready in case Lexi needs us. I do believe Valerose would kill his second-in-command if he laid so much as a finger on Lexi. Not that I would give him a chance. “ I will unfreeze you. But you're not going anywhere. I will keep you stuck like for as long as it takes.” Lexi says to Embrose.

“ What is she doing?” Valerose whispers. Not low enough for Lexi not to hear but she keeps her focus on Embrose. “ Lexi knows Isabelle and Embrose are mates. She also knows neither of them is going to give in easily. Lexi is going to see if she can get to the heart of the problem so they will accept each other.” I told him. “ Why is Lexi getting involved in Embrose’s mate problems?” Valerose asked. A valid question. Most Luna’s would let the couple figure it out on their own. Or maybe that was just my mother since she couldn’t be bothered to know her pack.

Luther answers for me. “ Valerose, you know how the prophecy states that Lexi would have two mates to help her kill you,” Luther said. Valerose nods but never takes his eyes off Lexi. “ Ryan is Lexi’s second chance mate. Her first one rejected her because he thought she was just a weak human. Despite the fact she glowed. Lexi knows firsthand how rejection can feel. She doesn’t want anyone else to go through what she did without a valid reason other than they don’t like each other.” Luther continued.

“ She is truly a queen of her people,” Valerose says in a low voice. That she is. “ Valerose, I will give you a word of advice that Luther gave me. I’m grateful he did. Never underestimate Lexi. Whether it be her powers or her compassion for her people. Never order her around.” I said. Luther started to laugh. “ Do and you will be sleeping alone or worse, rejected.” Luther chuckled. I have made sure that since our first meeting I don’t do anything that will piss Lexi off. I enjoy sleeping next to my mate. Valerose just nods. Luther and I still need to talk to him more but for now, it can wait.

“ Isabelle. Embrose. I know you two are mates. I also know neither of you are willing to accept it. At least for now. I would like to know why. Why are you both throwing away such a wonderful gift as a Goddess-gifted mate?” Lexi asked. I saw her glowing white so I knew she was searching for the truth from both of them. “ Lexi, how can I? He is a vampire. He is Valerose’s second in command. He is just as ruthless as Valerose himself.” Isabelle said. Lexi nods as she agrees. Then she turns to Embrose. “ What is your reason?” she asked. “ She is a wolf. I like my women a little more feminine. It could never work.” Embrose said.

I didn’t need powers to see the feminine part hurt Isabelle. Isabelle is a very beautiful woman. A natural beauty. So she isn’t a girly girl who likes shopping and heavy make-up. She is also beautiful inside. She is an incredible person. Embrose is lucky to have her. “ Embrose, must I remind you that I can tell when you are lying? Or even half-truths. I am pretty sure lying to your queen is a punishable offense.” Lexi stated. Embrose has the decency to look embarrassed. “ You both made valid points. At the least they are valid to you. There are also superficial.” Lexi said. “ Isabelle. Embrose. Don’t reject each just yet. I fear you will regret it. Spend some time together. Get to know each other. Learn who the person is beyond a wolf or vampire. If after some time has passed and you still can’t stand each other then reject each other. I will even help so it won’t be painful.” Lexi offered.

Isabelle and Embrose look at each other. I can see the longing in their eyes. I see attraction for Isabelle in Embrose’s. I hear Valerose whisper “ Give your mate a chance. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. You don’t know if you will get another mate. It’s been over one hundred and fifty years since vampires were gifted mates. Do you want to go another hundred and fifty and hope the Goddess shows you mercy.” Valerose isn’t undermining or going against Lexi. He is just encouraging Embrose to take Lexi’s suggestion.

Isabelle bows to Lexi. “ I won’t reject Embrose yet. I will take your suggestion if Embrose agrees,” she said. Lexi smiles at Isabelle. Ebrose clearly doesn’t want to give in easily. Or at least doesn’t want to look like he is giving in. He huffs “ Fine. I will give it a chance.” Lexi giggled “ I knew you would make the right decision. Now go. Mingle. Have fun. Dance together.” After Isabelle and Embrose leave Lexi looks around. “ Val, dear. Would you introduce us to the vampires?” she asks. Val looks caught off guard by the term of endearment at first. He collects himself quickly and offers Lexi his arm.

Luther and I follow close behind to where the vampires are standing off to themselves. So do several guardians. Lexi keeps hold of Valerose. Luther and I stand on the other side of Lexi. We are showing a united front. Some of these guys look like want to rip our heads off. Lexi keeps her head held high showing no fear. “ Why would she be scared? We could tear them apart like paper.”: Arya says with a giggle. Valerose must have heard it too because he smirks. “ I want to officially welcome every one of you. For those who don't know, I'm Lexi. You know Valerose. " she says. Then she points to us. " These are my other two mates, Ryan and Luther. I imagine all these sudden changes may make you feel out of sorts or even defensive. I want to assure you. You are safe here. No harm will come to you. I give my word as Luna and Queen." she says.

One cocky asshole steps up " Your word means nothing to us." I see several agree with him. As mad as I want to be I understand. They don't know us. We have been mortal enemies until thirty minutes ago. I'm about to say something when Val raises his voice. " Then take my word. I give you my vow you are safe as Queen Lexi says. Lexi is correct. These changes are going to take some time to get used to. Lexi is your queen as well as the queen of wolves. You will give her respect." he says. I can feel an Alpha aura coming off him. He shouldn't have that. Should he? Do vampires have Alpha Aura's? I'm sure we will all figure it out as we get to know each other.

" Val and I as well as Luther and Ryan are here for you to help make this transition. For now, I want you to try to relax." Lexi starts but suddenly stops. She looks at Val and whispers very low " Do they need blood? Or do you guys eat?" Val chuckles at her. " They will be fine without blood. I made sure they had some before we came here. As for food. We can eat but it does nothing for us. Other than helping us blend in." he said. Lexi nods and turns back to the vampires. " We have many things to figure out. For now, feel free to walk around. Get to know people. Enjoy the party. If you need Val or any one of us come find us. If you have any trouble with the wolves notify me immediately and I will handle it. Tonight is for celebration, not violence." Lexi said.

I feel she may be expecting too much and don't want her to be disappointed if a fight breaks out. " I know this isn't going to be easy, honey. I don't have my hopes up. I just wanted to lay the groundwork with them." Lexi links me.
