Chapter 21
Lexi
I was sitting on my back porch again. Argos had his head in my lap and I was scratching between his ears. He seems to like that. For a wild animal he is surprisingly gentle. At least with me. I don’t think a rabbit would be so lucky. I was telling him about my date with Luther and my first kiss. Crap I’m sure his wolfy mind didn’t care about. Then Luther showed up and asked if I wanted to go to dinner. “ Luther, I want you to meet someone. Now don’t freak out. He won’t hurt you. I promise.” I said to him. Luther looked skeptical but followed me. I introduced him to Argos. I thought for sure Luther would think I was weird. Or weirder than I already am.
Or Luther would tell me I’m nuts for being friends with a wild animal but he just went with it. I showed Luther how sweet Argos is. And Argos stayed by my side the whole time. I was about to say goodnight to Argos and go with Luther when some other wolves showed up out of nowhere. I have never seen anything like it. I thought I saw ten at least. All skinny and rabid looking. And they had red eyes. I have never seen anything like that before.
Suddenly the sick looking wolves jumped at once. Towards me. I didn’t have time to react, I just instinctively defended myself. I punched and kicked like my life depended on it. I think it did. I noticed Luther and Argos were fighting with me. Two more wolves showed up but they were more like Argo than the wolves attacking and they started fighting with us. I was hoping they were friends of Argos. I don’t know how long we fought before it finally stopped but I was exhausted. There was blood all over the white snow.
And so was Luther, Argos and his friends. I went over to check on them to make sure they were alright. I was hoping the blood wasn’t theirs. But when I went to move everything hurt and I was dizzy as hell. I took one step and everything went black. I heard someone yelling my name but I couldn’t respond.
I'm dreaming again. But this one is pleasant. I’m kissing Luther. I feel those familiar sparks gown down my body. He begins kissing down my neck as he whispers “ I want you, my mate.” I moan in response. I don’t know why he calls me that but I like it. I hear another male voice say “ You know you can’t have her all to yourself.” I don’t recognize the voice or see a face but I know he is supposed to be there. I felt comfortable with him too. I don’t even want to think about the fact that I have two men and don’t feel like a hussy. Luther hands his hands pulling my shirt off “ I know. I’m just getting our girl warmed up. You will get your turn.” The other voice just laughs. “ No worries. I’m enjoying the view.”
I want to continue this dream and see where it goes but that woman’s voice interrupts. “ You need to wake up, little one.” “ No, I like this dream.” I said. “ You will have time for that later. Your friends need you. They are worried. And big things are to come.” she says. “ What big things?” I asked. “ All will be revealed soon. Your time is coming. But for now, wake up. They need you.” she said and I got a flash of Argos and Luther.
My eyes pop open and I look around. Where the hell am I? The room is all white and bright. It is making my eyes hurt. And I smell strong disinfectant. I look around and see an Iv so I guess I’m in a hospital. Did Luther bring me here after I passed out? I hear voices outside my door. Then I remembered Argos. He could be hurt. I have to check on him. And Luther. I look over to remove the Iv and notice I’m covered in bandages. Little did they know I didn’t really need them. I heal quickly. All those scratches will be gone by tomorrow.
I grab hold of the needle but before I can pull Pasty walks in “ Lexi, stop. You are going to hurt yourself.” She races over to the side of the bed to stop me. “ Patsy, I have to go. My friends are still out there. Luther. I need to check on them. They could be hurt.” I said urgently. I needed to get out of here. “ Lexi, calm down. Lay back down. You may not be strong enough to move yet.” Patsy said. I feel fine. I feel as strong as I have ever felt.
“ Pasty, I need to go. Please help me. I need to make sure my friends are safe.Luther, Argos and his friends. I know they were hurt. I saw it. You have to let me go.” I yelled. I know I was starting to glow and I didn’t give a shit if Patsy saw me. I needed to leave. Now. “ Lexi, I will have someone go check on them. I promise. Just lay back and rest.” Patsy is trying her best to calm me down but it is only pissing me off. I shove her back but not enough to hurt her. “ No, I have to do it. I don’t think Argos will let anyone near him.” I said yanking the Iv out.
“ Lexi, I get that you are worried.” Pasty doesn’t get to finish because the door bursts open and Luther comes running in. I’m so relieved to see him and he doesn’t have a scratch on him that my legs give out. Luther runs fast. Super fast and catches me before I hit the floor. “ I have you, baby. I got you.” he says, holding me to his chest. I pull back and look him over real good. I even add a little more glow just to make sure. When I see he is fine I wrap my arms around his neck and hold him tight. Tighter than I’m sure he can stand but he doesn’t complain just holds me tight as well.
“ You are ok. I’m so glad you are ok.” I mumble against his shoulder. Luther runs his hand up and down my back “ Yes, baby. I’m fine. Don’t worry. You need to calm down.” I pull back as much as I hate it. I don’t want to move from his arms but I have something else that is important. “ Luther, I have to check on Argos. He was hurt and his friends. I have to go check on them.” I said. Luther gently lays me back down on the bed. He places his hands on the sides of my face rubbing his thumbs up and down my cheek. “ Lexi, do you trust me?” I don’t have to think about it for even a second before I say “ Yes.”
“ Good, then trust me now, baby. Argos and his friends are fine. I will prove it to you. If you stay in the bed.” Luther said. “ Yes, I will stay. Just show me, Please.” I answered. Luther gets up from the bed and goes to the door. Not a minute later Argos comes running in. I leap off the bed and get down on the floor. When Argos is close enough I wrap my arms around his furry neck and bury my face in it. Once I had my fill I pulled back and ran my hand over every inch of him checking for wounds. “ Argos, I am so happy you are not hurt.Your friends. The ones that fought with us. Are they hurt?” I asked. I know Luther and Patsy are going to think I have lost my marbles but I don’t care. Argos and Luther are safe, that is all that matters. And Argos’s friends.
