Luther and I were standing on the platform that my dad and his dad had built for the ceremony. Our dads standing with us. Another event where we can’t see Lexi until she is brought out but Calissa and Christine. It is a tradition that the present Luna escorts the future. It is a way to show the pack that Luna not only approves of the future Luna she is passing on the torch to her. In most cases that’s what happens. In our case, since nothing about us is normal, instead of my mom walking with Lexi like Christine is doing Calissa has stepped up again. My mom still doesn’t approve of Lexi because Lexi came and ruined all her plans for me. I refuse to let my mom out of the cells. I will not let her ruin this for Lexi or me.
I have waited for this day for so long that I’m not letting anything mess it up. Nothing is stopping me from making Lexi my Luna. I doubt the Goddess would let anything interfere with this ceremony. Speaking of Goddess. Holy fucking shit. Lexi is walking down an aisle that has been set up. I know Christine and Calissa are on either side of her but all I see is Lexi. She is a glowing aquamarine. She is dressed like a Greek Goddess. She is stunning. I hear “ Damn.” from beside me. I look out of the corner of my because I’m not moving my head from Lexi. I see Luther’s eyes glued to Lexi, his jaw opened. She does have a habit of doing that to us. I love it. I look forward to the next time.
Luther and I aren’t the only ones mesmerized by Lexi. Many have their jaws dropped. Some are looking at Lexi with lust. Both men and women. Not that I blame them. They can look all they want. I know whose arms Lexi sleeps in. Others are looking at her with admiration and pride. I feel it all right there with them. Hell, Christine and Calissa are beaming with joy they are shining almost as bright as Lexi. You would think Lexi was their daughter. As Lexi walks down the aisle towards up I watch each person bow to her. Not to Christine or Calissa. Lexi. Lexi, though she never takes her eyes off of Luther and me. That smile. Damn, I’m a sucker for it every time. I want to see it for the rest of my life.
The closer she gets to Luther and me the taller I stand. So does Luther. It is pride. It is a joy for Lexi and this moment that we get to share with her. It is gratitude for Lexi being in our lives. There is some lust in there too. Who could blame me? Our mate is dressed like a Greek Goddess with a rocking hot body. Lexi is just an awesome person that shines without her glow. Add it in, she is ethereal. As she glides up the steps. Yeah, she isn’t walking. Lexi is almost floating. She looks at Luther and me with so much love I swear I can see it flowing from her. I think everyone else can feel it. You can tell by the look on the people's faces. Lexi is spreading the love, as cheesy as it sounds.
When Christine and Calissa finally lead Lexi to the middle of the raised platform they place her so she is standing between Luther and me. Our dads are at our sides. Calissa and Christine step forward, they address the crowd. “ Ladies, gentlemen, friends, packs. We want to welcome you to this momentous occasion. We are not only swearing in a new Luna. We are gaining a queen.” Calissa called out to the crowd. The entire crowd cheers at this. I don’t see one person who looks like they might object. Good. I don’t want any nighsayers here. Not that they would last long. In front of the platform is all of Lexi’s guardians and their mates forming a protective line. They even closed off the stairs once Lexi was up them.
“ I have the incredible honor to present Lexi Wintrop, mate to my son Luther Riverclaw, as the Luna of Riverclaw pack. I approve of not only the union between my son and Lexi but of her taking over my role as Luna. The Goddess has blessed us with a gift in the form of Lexi, her daughter. We will also be crowning a new Alpha. ” Christine stated. Christine stepped back to Luther and Evan’s side. Calissa addressed the crowd again. “ Under normal circumstances, Luna Skyline would be here to present Lexi to Iron River,” she said. Calissa looked over her shoulder at me and smiled. That small gesture means a lot to me.
She turned back to face the audience. “ Alpha Ryan has allowed me to present Lexi on behalf of former Luna Skyline. Since I will not be present Lexi as my replacement I figure this is the next best thing.” Calissa stated. Damn, she made a dig at her son. Reminding him of what a fool he was. I see Aiden duck his head in embarrassment. I don’t think she is going to let Aiden live this down for a long time. I’m happy he was an asshole. “ I can’t think of a better person to be Luna of Iron River. Not just because she is the Prophecy child. That is not who Lexi is. She is a kind, compassionate young woman. She cares for everyone the same. From the omegas to the Alpha’s. I have seen her giggle like a child when she plays with the wolf pups, shifter and non-shifter. It is a joy to see her get excited over something as simple fresh baked cookies.” Calissa continues.
