Chapter 15
Lexi
Tonight is a busy night in the diner for some reason. We have been backet since lunch. I am only working the lunch and part of the dinner shift since I have a study session with Jesse today. That means I don’t have to close. And I’m happy about that because I want to sit down for more than two minutes. I just dropped food off at one table when I saw another table of mine just filled up. Wow, I just cleared that table. I have made good money today so I’m not going to complain.
I get to the table, noticing there are three guys and one girl. They all smile at me like they are happy to see me. Maybe they are super hungry. I have never met these people before. There is one guy I can’t take my eyes off. I feel like I have met him before but I know I haven’t. I would remember that face. Skin like cinnamon. Strong jaw. Dark green eyes I could get lost in and never want to come out. And his smell. Yum. He smells like pumpkin pie spice. It reminds me of the pies my grandma used to make.Dark brown hair that he has in a ponytail for the top and underneath is shaved.
I clear my throat and focus on my job. I can’t be drooling over the customers. “ Hi, what can I get for you guys tonight?” I ask as I get my pad out. The girl answers first “ Let me have the meatloaf special with mashed potatoes and green beans. Add a side of bacon mac and cheese. Cola to drink” The man next to her says “ I’ll have a double bbq burger with a double order of onion rings. Tea to drink.” Then the other guy orders. All that is left is the one who should be on billboards. “ And for you sir.” I asked.
“ Luther.” he said. “ I’m sorry?” not fully understanding what he is saying. Probably because I keep staring at his eyes. “ My name is Luther. And you are?” he asked. Oh, he was telling me his name. Shit and he is asking me mine. Focus Lexi. “ I’m Lexi.” I said holding my hand out. Why I don’t know? I feel like something I should do. Luther doesn’t waste a second and grabs my hand. I gasp and my eyes glow bright when I feel pleasant warm sparks run up my arm. I can feel them all the way down to my pussy making it clench. And I’m getting wet. And my heart beats faster. Not from fear but excitement. What the hell was that?
I had a similar experience with Aiden. But a little different. I don’t know how to explain it. I see the others at the table looking at me and I know my eyes must be shocking them. I drop Luther’s hand and look down until I can calm my eyes. Without looking up I say “ It is nice to meet you Luther.” “ The pleasure is mine. Lexi, please look up.” he says. I take a deep breath to calm myself and slowly look up. “ That’s better. You don’t need to hide.” Luther said.
“ It is a habit. People seem to freak out when my eyes change. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” I said. I’m so used to apologizing, it comes out as an automatic response. They wave me off and tell me not to worry about it. It doesn’t bother them. Luther points to the guy next to him “ This is Dean.” I smile “ Hi.” “ Nice to meet you Lexi.” Dean says. There is something about Dean and Luther that feels familiar but I can’t place it. The guy across the table holds his hand out “ I’m Scott.” I shake his hand “ Hi.” I shake the girl’s hand as well when she introduces herself as Freya.
After the greeting is doone Luther finally orders a double bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon and a double order of load fries. I write it all down “ Big appetites. My kind of people.” I let slip. I gasp when I realize what I said and slap my hand over my mouth. I know I’m turning as red as a boiled lobster. I pull my hand slightly “ I’m so sorry. That was rude of me.” They just laugh and Luther says “ Don’t worry about it. I thought it was cute.” “ Thanks,” I mummer before taking off to put their orders in.
I went and checked on my other tables while I waited for their orders. I swear I felt as if Luther’s eyes were on me the whole time. I felt flattered that he was doing that. Know one has ever looked at me the way he is. I kind of liked it. When their food was ready I grabbed all four plates and brought it to them. It is a balancing act but I have been able to do it easily.
I set their plates down and made sure they didn’t need anything else before I walked away. Luther gently grabbed my hand “ Lexi, would you like to grab some coffee after your shift?” Holy shit, did Luther just ask me out? I want to squeal with excitement. I’m about to say yes when I remember Jesse is coming to study. “ Oh, I would like to but I can’t tonight.” I told him. “ Why not?” He asked.
“ My study partner is coming here in a little bit so we can work on a project. It is a big grade. I can’t blow it off.” I told him. Luther nods like he understands. “ I wouldn’t ask you to do that. School work is important. How about tomorrow?” I smile and nod my head. I must look like a bobble head doll. “ I have classes in the morning but I’m free in the afternoon. “ I said. Luther smiles, making me melt. “ Perfect. Let me see your phone.” he said. I hand him my phone and watch him program his number in. I hear a phone vibrate and Luther pulls his phone. “ Now I have your number. I’ll call you tomorrow. And we can meet.” Luther said. I take my phone back and say. “ I look forward to it.
