Chapter 164

Luther

When Lexi casually announced that she was pregnant I had so many questions. Like how could she say that then go back to eating like she didn’t just drop a bomb on us. An incredible bomb. I could see the look on Ryan and Val’s face, they did too. Then when Val said he heard three heart beats I swear I stopped breathing for a  full minute.I was trying to listen.

Sure as shit I heard three separate strong heart beats. Our queen was giving us triplets. After everyone congratulated us we finished breakfast. I wanted to rush to the doctor to make sure Lexi and the babies were alright. Lexi assured me that the doctor did a full check-up the day before and they are fine. Even Arya chimed in to tell me the babies were perfectly safe.

That was five months ago. Most wolf pregnancies last six months but because Lexi is having triplets she could go early. I can’t wait to see them.I know Val and Ryan feel the same way. We have helped Lexi and my mother make the room beside ours into a nursery. We went with warm neutral colors since we don’t know what we are having. We want it to be a surprise. Okay that’s a lie. Lexi wants it to be a surprise.

I want to know. Val goes back and forth. One minute he wants to know. The next he doesn’t. Ryan doesn’t care either way. Since it made Lexi happy to wait, that’s what we are doing.Arya keeps hinting that she knows but she won’t tell us.  Or even a few clues, stubborn ass wolf.

It has been an eventful few months, that’s for sure. Shortly after Lexi told us we were attacked by a small vampire faction that didn’t agree with Valerose’s changes. Lexi and Belle were out walking  one of our borders when they were attacked. There were only six vampires. Lexi and Belle made quick work in destroying them before we could arrive with help. Lexi did leave one alive for Valerose to use to send a message back to the remaining group not to fuck with his queen.

Lexi was three months pregnant at the time and passed out from exerting too much energy. Ryan and I rushed her to the hospital. She had know injuries, thank the Goddess. The doctor warned us about letting Lexi use her powers too often.  Most of the time Lexi has no need to use them but she does like to practice. We all agreed to cut down on that until after the babies are born.

At the three and a half month mark I swear Lexi’s stomach grew overnight. It looked like she swallowed an entire watermelon. To me it was amazing. Our babies were growing. Lexi not so much. As she got bigger it was harder for her to move around. Someone always had to help her. Arya wouldn’t shift anymore. Diesel told me she stayed curled around the babies most of the time.

And the cravings. Most weren’t too odd. Banana and peanut butter sandwiches. Potato chips dipped in chocolate sauce. Pickles and ketchup. The oddest one was how she wanted her meat cooked. Or not cooked actually. Rare, it was not. It was raw. Lexi had started to crave meat, the bloodier the better. At one of her check- ups, we mentioned it to the doctor.

He wasn’t sure but suspected it was possible that at least one of the babies was part vampire. He wasn’t sure. He had never encountered anything like this before. Lexi’s case was indeed different. So we did the only thing we could think of. Consult the Goddess’s. We  met them in our dreams, they hugged Lexi and rubbed her belly.

They were excited grandma’s at that moment. After they had their time with Lexi and the babies they hugged us. They had us sit so we could talk. They confirmed that yes, one of the babies was part vampire. They also told us that biologically all three of us had fathered one of the babies. That didn’t matter to us. Val, Ryan and I are the father’s to all three babies. It didn’t matter who fathered which one. They assured us the babies were perfectly healthy.

And will be born perfectly healthy. No hint as to the genders though. They way the Goddess’s were acting I wouldn’t be surprised if they made an appearance after the birth. The next month and a half flew by. There was an hour in the day that one of us didn’t have our hand on Lexi’s belly feeling the babies move.

It all led up to now. We are in the living room of the packhouse. Lexi has been pacing for the last hour. She would sit for a minute. Maybe two before she was up again. We all asked her if there was anything wrong. “ No. I don’t think so. I just feel restless. I don’t understand it. I just feel the need to pace.” she said. We all watched her but let her go. Lexi will let us know if she needs something.

Thirty minutes later Lexi’s normal  aquamarine glow started to pulse. Kent, My dad, mom, Belle, Tyler, Billy, and Embrose are here. Belle said her wolf told her she needed to come. Tyler and Billy said the same. The next thing Lexi did was go through lists as she paced. “ Do we have enough diapers?” “ Yes, we even have a few extra cases.” my mom said. She may have gone overboard.

I think we have six extra cases in a storage closet. Mom insists you can never have too many. Especially with triplets. I’m going to have to take her word. I have never changed a diaper. Or held a baby before. “ The nursery is ready. The cribs are put together and made.” she says out loud. “ And all the clothes are washed and put away?” she asked no one in particular.

Kent answered “ Yes, Lexi. Everything is ready.” “ My hospital bag is ready?” she asked. “ Yes, my love.” Val answered. “ Luther, get ready.” Diesel told me. Before I can ask what he is talking about Lexi nods her head. “ Good. We need it.” she said. “ Need what, sweetheart?” Ryan asked. “ My bag. It’s time.” Lexi said calmly.
