Chapter 55

Luther
When I changed into Diesel I was a little worried how Lexi would react. We have met before but I don’t know if she remembers or if she does she might be upset with me. All of my doubts faded when she saw me and smiled. She did recognise me but she wasn’t upset. When she wrapped her arms around Diesel's neck pouring her feelings into us he purred. “ This feels amazing.” Diesel said. “ Yes, it does buddy. Enjoy it.” I said to him. “ I will. You will have to let me out more often so Lexi can hold me like this.” he said. “ I will. You have my word.” I said.When Lexi pulled back and took off running that was the last thing I expected her to do. She wasn’t scared. I would feel it. She was having fun. Giggling as she left.

And damn she was fast. I blinked and she was gone. I looked over at Aiden/ Razor who was shaking his head but had a wolfy smile. Then we both took off. It wasn’t going to be hard to find Lexi. I could easily catch her scent. Or her glow. Or the laughter that filled the air. Lexi wasn’t trying to hide. I think she wanted to see if we could catch her. Oh, my silly mate, I will definitely get you. We would see a glimpse of her hiding behind a tree looking around for us before taking off again. “ Come find me, my mates.” Lexi sang out.

I turned to Aiden and signaled for him to go left while I went right. I was worried that since we couldn’t link he wouldn’t understand but he did. I wanted us to try to corral Lexi. We ran for another ten minutes trying to catch Lexi. Every time we got close she would giggle and sprint off. All you saw was a blur of light. “ Wow mate is fast.” Diesel said. “ No kidding. She isn’t even winded.” I told him. When I catch up to her it is because she stopped to look at the waterfall we have at the back of our land. It is ten miles from the packhouse. I hadn’t noticed we had gone that far.

Unfortunately when I do get to her I’m going too fast. Diesel was digging his paws into the ground to stop but it wasn’t much help. Aiden came in from the other side, saw what was happening and ran toward me. I was hoping he was trying to take the hit instead of attacking me. If it stops me from hitting Lexi I’ll take it. Lexi turns toward me and everything slows down. I still can’t stop. I have two options. Try and jump over Lexi and hope I clear her. Or let Aiden tackle me. I see Aiden jump but he misses. Lexi doesn’t look afraid that a two hundred and ten pound wolf is charging at her. She just smiles and squats down.

Diesel uses that to jump over her. He jams his back paws into the ground and jumps. We clear Lexi but end up rolling tail over head twice before landing in the shallow water at the edge of the lake. Lexi gasps and runs to me. Diesel stands up and shakes out his fur, not happy being wet. “ Diesel, sweetheart are you okay?” Lexi asks, running her hands all over him checking for injuries. I see her shoulder shaking and think she is crying because she is worried. Then I hear her snicker and realize she is trying her hardest to not laugh.

Diesel whines and lifts his paw to her. “ Oh sweety. You are hurt. I’m so sorry.” she says. Lexi grabs his paw and lightly rubs her hand over it. “ Diesel, what are you doing? You aren’t hurt.” I asked. “ I know. I just like the attention she is giving me.” he snickers. Oh geez. I feel warmth spreading through his paw to my body. “ Is she trying to heal us?” I asked. “ I have no clue but it feels good.” Diesel said. He is right about that. Lexi leans down and kisses the paw. “ There, does that feel better?” she asks. I see she is still trying to hold back the giggles. I see Razor with his head bouncing like he is laughing. I’m sure to the two of them it did look funny.

Diesel licks Lexi’s cheek. She loses it. Lexi cracks up laughing. She is bent over holding her sides. I can see tears running down her face. Diesel whines. “ Sweety, I don’t mean to laugh at you but that was freaking hilarious. I thought you would just go over me and land on the other side. I didn’t expect you to flip over like that.” Lexi said between laughs. Lexi starts to fall over and Aiden jumps to her side to stop her. Just watching her laugh like that is worth the embarrassment.

When Lexi gather’s herself she pulls away from Aiden and finds a log to sit on. She pats both sides of her. “ Come sit with me. I know we need to head back soon but I want to enjoy the view for a little while.” Razor takes her right side and I take her left. We sat beside her facing the waterfall.Lexi had her hand on Diesel’s neck rubbing it. I looked over and saw she was giving the same treatment to Razor. Diesel was so relaxed I was worried he would fall asleep. Razor looked like he was having the same problem. I have never felt Diesel so relaxed. Being the future Alpha we always had to be alert.

“ It’s Lexi. She makes me feel like this.” Diesel said. I know the feeling. I feel like this every night she is in our arms. “ It is so beautiful out here. I could sit here everyday. Razor would tell Aiden I want to know if he has any places like this on his land. I would like to explore it too.” Lexi said. Razor leaned over and rubbed his head gently against Lexi. “ Thanks.” Lexi laid her head on Diesel's shoulder “ And thanks for letting me lead you here. Even though I wasn’t sure where I was going.” Lexi said. Diesel purred at her. He was so damn whipped. Not that I blame him. The Goddess gave us an incredible gift.

Not only did she give a wonderful, strong and sexy mate. But she gave us her Prophecy child. “ As great as Lexi is, I imagine her wolf is just as awesome. I haven’t met her yet and I already love her.” Diesel said. I figured as much. Not that I blame him. I have seen a little of her wolf once and she is impressive. And a little scary. I don’t want to piss her off again. As much as I would love to sit here all day with Lexi, we need to head back. There are a few more places I want to show her. I’m sure it is getting near lunch and Lexi is on a strict diet. I don’t want her passing out again. Diesel nudges Lexi and motions towards the woods.

“ Time to head back already?” Lexi asks. Diesel nods. “ Will you bring me out here again?” she asks. Diesel bounces his head up and down. “ Come on Razor. Time to go.” Razor stands up. Diesel lays down on the ground and motions to his back. “ You want me to get on your back?” Lexi asked. Diesel nods. “ Oh, I didn’t know you did that? Or is it just for me?” she asked. We do it sometimes for someone who is injured. But this time it is just for her and Diesel tells her by nudging her hand.

Lexi walks to our side and carefully throws her leg over like she is trying to mount a bike. Razor stays by her side and pushes her up. Lexi grabs a handful of fur at the base of my neck to hold on but it doesn’t hurt. She wiggles around to get comfortable. I groan, feeling her rub against us. “ Okay sweetie. I am ready to go.” Lexi said. Diesel chuckles. “ She calls me sweetie. I like it.” “ Come one sweetie. Let’s get our mate home.” I mocked.

We set off in an easy trot to make sure we don’t bounce Lexi off. Razor is flanking my side, keeping a close eye on Lexi. If we can continue to work like this then it seems like Diesel and Razor will get along. But this is only their first meeting. Only time will tell if it is going to work. I know Razor doesn’t want to lose Lexi so he will do whatever it takes including getting along with Diesel. “ Diesel, this is so cool. I can’t believe you get to do this whenever you want.” Lexi said. She looked around enjoying the view. “ You will soon be able to my little mate.” Diesel said, knowing she couldn’t hear him.

We are about half way home when I see six regular wolves come out from the trees ahead of us. Well, regular with the exception of their red glowing eyes. They are mangy looking and growling. They look just like the wolves that had attacked at Lexi’s house. I link my warriors and Lexi’s guardians. “ We have demonic wolves on the grounds. I have Lexi and Aiden with me. We need backup in case more show up. Protect Lexi, your Luna at all cost.” I said. I gave them the rough location of us then lowered myself to the ground. Lexi didn’t need to be told she just got down. “ Diesel, these are like the wolves I fought before. And there is more behind us. There is something wrong with them.” I look behind us and see ten more. And Lexi is right there is something wrong with them.

They are stronger than regular wolves but not as strong as shifters and their eyes. Razor and I make a protective circle around Lexi. I growl in one direction and Razor the other. I know there is going to be a fight. I hope Razor and I can work together on this. So far we are. The main goal. Keeping Lexi safe. I can’t watch her go down again. We just have to keep them busy until help arrives.
