Chapter 107
Ryan
After school Lexi and Luther were meeting me at a spot I think would be perfect for the new packhouse. At least I hope it is the perfect spot. We won't be able to tell until Lexi gives her thoughts on it. Anything we do Luther and I agreed to include Lexi in all of our decisions. And since this was her idea we defiantly want to know what she thinks. And Lexi has a several ideas. Some I just want to smack myself in the head for not thinking about it myself. Most of her ideas if we sat and thought about it are pretty much common sense.
Or at least it should have been. Like frequent gathering with other packs to give the unmated a chance to find their mates. Like an friendly barbeque or a semiformal ball. Or inviting other pack’s warriors to come train with us and us with them to learn different techniques. And that is just a few of her ideas. I was feeling like an idiot. Luther told me not to be too hard on myself. Dad said the same thing. Lexi didn’t come up with these ideas to make us feel bad.
Hell, I knew that. I could feel the nervousness coming off Lexi every time she came to us with an idea. She is still worried about over stepping. She still doesn’t understand that with her outranking every wolf out there she can do whatever she wants. Or she understands but refuses to us that power. I believe in my heart it is ther latter. Luther said that even though Lexi is one of us she is still new to this world and can see things from a different perspective. And I have to agree. We have been living in our own worlds for so long it is normal to us. Each pack has kept to themselves for more years than I know. Dad said it has been like this for as long as he can remember too.
And my poor dad. I just don’t know what do to to help him. He hasn’t been the same since we had that sit down with my mom that lead her to being put in the cells. Not that I blame him. He hasn’t been down there to see her and neither have I. I know she will have to be punished soon. And she will just not today, or tomorrow. We are letting her stay in the cells to suffer for a while. But dad I just don’t know what to do. The day after we locked her up he came to my office asking if I needed any help.
He knew I didn’t need it. I have been running this pack for a few years with little help. I knew he was just looking to keep busy. So I gave him the packhouse project to work on. It seems to help. That and spending time with Lexi. He sems to brighten up when Lexi is around. I notice he hugs he a little tighter than before and holds her a little longer. That is fine.If that is what my dad needs to get through this so be it. I look over my shoulder as the wind shifts bring the greatest smell on this planet followed one of my favorite sounds. Lexi’s giggles.
I still haven’t figured out what one of her sounds is my favorite but I have a top five. I’ll tell you about those another time. Right now I see Lexi, Luther, Tyler and Jesse coming over the hill. I didn’t know Jesse was coming with them. I know he wasn’t guardian her at school today. No big deal. I like Jesse. He is a good wolf. And he cares about Lexi and would never hurt her. That’s all that matters to me. Lexi sees me and gets a wide grin on her face. She calls out “ Ryan.” She lets go of Luther’s hand and takes off running to me. I wait with open arms. When she is just a few feet from me she jumps.
I catch her holding her close to me as she wraps her legs around my waist and arms around my neck. I make sure I have a firm grip on her ass. I could have placed my hands anywhere else on her but I didn’t want to. Damn it feels good to have her in my arms again. Even if it has only been a few hours since I have seen her but it is too much in my opinion. Lexi buries her face into my neck. “ I missed you, love.” she murmurs in my neck. “ I missed you.” I told her as I kissed the side of her head. If I could keep Lexi in my arms all day I would. I know Luther feels the same. We both know it isn’t an option. Too much to do. It is a nice thought though. Even just a few hours would be nice.
Lexi lifts her head and pulls her arms from my neck. She places her hands on my cheeks just before slamming her lips on mine. She runs the tip of her tongue along my top lip. I let her in without a thought. As soon as my tongue touches hers I twist mine with hers. I can taste hints of vanilla on her tongue. Lexi turns her head ton the side, I use the action to deepen our kiss. Fuck, how I need her. When I smell her arousal I know it is time to stop thiss before we go too far. I reluctantly pulled away making Lexi whimper. I kissed her forehead and told her “ we will finish this later. With out so many people.”
It was like I dumped cold water on her. “ You better.” she said with a smirk. I set her down on her feet and looked at everyone that waiting for us to finish out moment. Luther had a smirk and the other were trying to be respectful and look at anything but us. Tyler seemed to find a tree fascinating. I wanted to laugh at him but I was also proud of the kindness her was showing Lexi by turning away. “ Come, let me show you what dad and I came up with.” I said so they would come closer.
We are standing at the top of a hill with nothing around us but the forest. “ What’s the distance between our packs?” Luther asks. I point of in the distance “ You pack is fifteen miles in that direction. And mine in about twenty miles behind us.” I told him. I watch Lexi walk around but she hasn’t said anything yet. “ How hard will it be to get the property?” Tyler asks. I explain that I have already checked up on it and purchasing the property won’t be difficult at all and it is reasonable priced. We can even purchase the land between the packs so we gould make roads from both packs.
Still Lexi hasn’t said anything. She is looking out over the area towards the sun. “ Baby?” Luther asked. Lexi turns around with a huge grin on her face. “ This is perfect.” she said. She points to the direction she was facing. “ We need to have the front of the packhouse facing that direction.” she added. “ So you want to don this?” I asked both Luther and Lexi. “ I’m in.” Luther said. “ Yea?” Lexi asks. “ Sure.” he said. Lexi giggles and jumps up and down. Then she runs over to us and tries her hardest to wrap her arms around both of us. “ I take it you are happy?” I laughed. “ Are you kidding? This is the first step towards our forever. Of course I’m happy.” she giggles.
With that settled we decide to shift and run back to the waiting car. We are going to go back to my packhouse and tell dad what we decided so he can get to work on it. Once we arrived we went to my office where dad was waiting for us. I noticed Jesse looking around and sniffing the air but didn’t think anything of it. This is the first time he has been here it isn’t unusual to be looking around. When we get to my office Lexi runs in to my dad who is waiting with his arms open.
As soon as she is in his arms Lexi wraps him in her calming glow as well as some white. It is cool to watch. The white is from Arya and it is giving my dad pure love. They are letting him know they are here for him no matter what. My sweet mate, always looking out for others. When they were done we sat down with my dad and told him what we decided. We told dad that we would leave everything else up to him. He asked Lexi several questions about what she may want in a packhouse since this would be our home together.
She didn’t have much that she wanted. She said she wanted a family friendly home. A large kitchen and dinning room for family dinners that included anyone who wanted to join us. She wanted us to have an apartment to ourselves with enough room for a nursery. Dad lit up at that comment. Lexi laughed and told him not yet. But hopefully in the future. Strange dad didn’t seem disappointed that Lexi wasn’t pregnant yet. He was happy that she was thinking about them inn the future. Dad linked me “ I want you to enjoy each other for a little while first before bringing in pups.”
I had to agree with him. And with everything going on it wasn’t the best time. When we told dad the main requirements we wanted, like a bathtub and jacuzzi big enough for four, we let him run with everything else. We all went down stairs to the kitchen to grab a snack. Luther and I have gotten into the habit of having a snack with Lexi. Jesse is now sniffing like crazy the further we go down. We get to the bottom of the stairs and Lexi stops Jesse.
Lexi places a hand on Jesse’s arm to get him to stop sniffing in all different directions. “ Jesse, are you alright?” she asks. “ Do you smell that?” Jesse asked. “ Smell what? What does it smell like?” Lexi asked. Jesse smiles “ Like lemons and red hots.” “ Jesse, I need you to look at me.” Lexi said. Jesse turned around and focused on Lexi like she asked. Lexi’s eyes glowed white as she looked at him. When she pulled the glow back she smiled and said “ Go get her.” Jesse sniffed the air then took off towards the back door.
Lexi grabbed mine and Luther’s hand and pulled us to follow. Jesse opened the sliding glass door and started sniffing again. He took off across the yard towards our pack daycare. “ Hurry, I don’t want to miss it.” Lexi said. What the hell is going on? Suddenly the door to the daycare opens and out runs Annabelle a teacher for the three year olds. She is sniffing too. Annabelle sees Jesse and they say one word “ Mate.” Annabelle takes off running towards Jesse and he does the same. Annabelle slams into Jesse bouncing back. Jesse catches her. Jesse looks at Annabelle with so much adoration it is sweet. He has the same look I give Lexi all the time.
Annabelle is doing the same. “ Mate.” Jesse whispers as he places his hand on Annabelle’s cheek. Annabelle nods and wipes a tear from the corner of her eyes but she is smiling. “ Yes, mate. I was beginning to worry you wouldn’t show up.” she said. “ I have been waiting a long time for you.” Jesse said. Lexi leans her head on my shoulder and whispers “ I love being able to see this.” I don’t get to see this happen often. Lexi is right we need to have gatherings with other packs. Who knows how many of my pack may have mates in other packs and are missing out because of it.
