Chapter 94

Luther

Lexi sat back and answered every question thrown at her to the best of her ability. If she didn’t know the answer like when an Alpha from Detroit asked what her plans were for battle, she told the truth. “ I don’t have any. I’m relying on my warriors and others better suited for the job to help me come up with a plan. I just know my goal. Which is to defeat Valerose with as few lives lost as possible.” she said. “ Is it true you can talk to the Goddess?” another Alpha asked. “ Yes and no.” Lexi said. Lexi explained that she could only talk to the Goddess in her dreams or meditation.

“ Granted that was all before I got Arya. So that could change. Honestly lots of things could change. And I won’t know until I have had a long talk with her. Then I can better know what I can do and give you better answers. “ Lexi said. “ But rest assured. No matter what powers I get or what I can do. Or how special my wolf is. At the heart of me I’m still just Lexi.” she continued. “ And who is that?” the Beta from Mackinac Island asks. “ I could tell you. Or I could have people who have been with me since I started this journey. But you might think those are biased opinions. So I invite you to follow me around for a day or two.Come see what I do from day to day. The only place off limits is the bathroom and bedroom.” Lexi answered.

That seems to impress the Beta. Not many would invite other packs to follow them around to discover their true character. I get the feeling we will be seeing a lot of this Beta around. “ Could we see you Elite warriors in training?” another Beta asked. Lexi looks to dad for confirmation. “ Of course. They have already started but if you want to follow me we can go watch.” dad said. We all stood to go to the training field. We let my dad lead while Lexi, Ryan and I brought up the rear of the group.

Ryan kisses Lexi’s cheek. “ You did well, honey.” I squeeze her hand in agreement. I know she was nervous about it. I could feel it through the bond. What shocked me was I could feel Ryan’s support through the bond. That is different. “ Arya said it is another gift. You will feel Ryan’s emotions and I will Stone’s. It is a way to strengthen the bond between us all. And to know if there is trouble. Arya also said you and Ryaan need to have a Luna ceremony soon. Stone is telling Ryan the same thing. Lexi needs to be connected to the packs.”

“ I’ll talk to mom and Ryan about how to do this. I’ll see if mom can plan it out for Lexi.” I told Diesel. Ryan gives me a look that tells me we will talk later. As we walk to the training area dad explains to the other Alphas about how the area was recently divided into sections. There is a section and trainer for every skill level. “ We recently started training anyone who wants to learn. No matter the age, gender or skill level.” dad said. “ even if they won’t be fighting in battle?” some asked. “ Yes, it was brought to my attention that all of our pack members have a right to be able to defend and protect themselves. Even if it is just long enough for help to arrive.” dad said.

“ Do you think that it is necessary?” asked another. “ After some thought.Yes. We can prepare until we collapse but it won’t stop Valerose’s people from getting through our borders. We don’t know who he is working with or how big his army is. It is imperative that everyone do a little something until they get to safety.” dad said. “ It is good thinking on your part, Alpha Evan.” the Alpha from Detroit said. I wish I could remember all of these guys' names. I’m sure I will in time.

Dad laughs as he points out what we call the kindergarten area. It has kids five thru ten. “ The idea is good. But it wasn’t mine.” dad said. “ Who’s was it?” another asks. “ Lexi’s.” dad says with pride. I know I was when I first heard about the idea. I remember dad telling me how nervous Lexi was when she approached him. She was worried he would blow her off or accuse her of telling how to run a pack. We all know that isn’t who she is. Dad shows the next group of eleven to fourteen year olds.

After that the Detroit Alpha asks “ Alpha Evan, no disrespect, but if these are Lexi’s ideas why isn’t she telling us about them?” Dd motions for Lexi to come forward. Ryan and I follow her but keep quiet. “ I asked Evan to lead the meeting as well as the tour because I was afraid. I was concerned you wouldn’t listen to me or at least hear me out. I thought it would be better to hear it from an Alpha.” Lexi said.

“ I can respect that. But I would like to hear from you, my queen.” Detroit Alpha said. Lexi looked at my dad and he nodded. So Lexi continued the tour showing all the different groups and explaining the levels. We finished at the elite field. We all stood and watched as Kyle, our head warrior put everyone through their paces. They were practicing with sand filled dummies to either decapitate or go for the heart. Those were the two defiant kill spots on a vampire. Well, everyone for that matter. Some are in full wolf form, some half shifted, and some are full human.

Today’s work with teams of two working together. As the session gets close to the end Kyle says “ You guys have improved but you aren’t there yet. You need to get your speed up. You are fast now but the blood suckers are faster. Before we wrap up I would like to give you guys an example.” Kyle turns towards us “ My Luna, could you lend us a hand?” Lexi walks over to Kyle. “ Most of you have heard of our Luna’s speed, but few have seen it. Now you will get your chance.” Kyle said. “ All you have to do is tag her. If you can.” he continued.

Ryan chuckles, “ This is going to be fun.” I have to agree. “ I’ll even make it fair by giving you a head start.” Lexi said. “ I want teams of four.” Kyle said. As they pair up the other Alphas and Betas gather closer. “ Is this a good idea?” a Beta asks. “ It is fun to watch. My advice. Don’t blink and follow the glow.” Ryan said.

“ Teams ready?” Kyle asked. “ Ready.” they shout. “ Luna ready?” he asked. Lexi lets her glow out and nods. “ First team, go.” Kyle says. The first team charges Lexi but she doesn’t move until the last second. Just when the lead guy was close enough to reach Lexi, she jumped over the entire group and ran. Lexi stayed within the area to give everyone a sporting chance. If Lexi went off into the woods they would be able to catch her. As it is all you see is a glow and Lexi giggling.

“ Time. Next group, get ready.” Kyle said. Lexi stops and shakes hands with the first group and gives them encouraging words. When the area is clear Kyle signals for the next group to go. “ She is truly amazing.” Alpha Detroit said. “ That she is. I am blessed.” I told him. “ Young Alpha’s. I have made my decision already. I have discussed it with my Beta and Luna. When would be a good time to talk to both of you and Lexi?” he asked. I told him Lexi's snack time was coming up and we could meet in the kitchen.
