Chapter 139 Gaia's Blessing: Temple of the Undead!
Now that the restrictions on him were lifted, Alan completed Andrew's Blessing of the Gods quest.
Leona asked, "What are you gonna do?"
"Help the Demon Lair set up a regime, lure out King Rex, and kill him," Alan said calmly.
Leona gasped. Alan's plan was wild.
"Why help the Demon Lair set up a regime?" Leona asked.
Alan couldn't say it was because of the Black Robe Leader's mission.
"Even with my power, I can't take on an army alone. King Rex hides in the palace, making it nearly impossible to get to him. Regular bait won't work. But if the Demon Lair takes over, King Rex will have to come out. His followers won't stand for a new regime without him," Alan explained.
Leona frowned, sensing something was off, but Alan's logic seemed sound.
After sending Leona away, Alan completed Andrew's mission, gaining 100 free attribute points and a "Blessing of the Gods."
Now, Alan had 2965 free attribute points.
[Use the Blessing of the Gods.]
[You have received the Blessing of the Gods.]
[Gaia is bestowing her blessing upon you.]
Alan was stunned. He thought, 'Gaia again?'
This was a headache. He already had two blessings from Gaia; another wouldn't speed things up.
[Ding, you have received the Temple of the Undead.]
Alan was taken aback. He wondered, 'What's the Temple of the Undead?'
He immediately checked its attributes.
[Temple of the Undead: Special Building.]
[Usage Requirements: Only for the Ice King, cannot be gifted, dropped, stolen, or deprived in any form.]
[Effect: Unknown.]
[Durability: Indestructible.]
'Effect unknown? Are you kidding me? What's this thing even for?' Alan thought.
In mythology, Gaia controlled the Book of Life and Death and the cycle of life and death. The Temple of the Undead was in the underworld.
'Is it used to gather faith?' Alan pondered.
To know its specific use, he'd have to build it first. But without a territory, the Temple of the Undead was useless for now.
After putting it away, Alan headed to the Demon Lair and found the Black Robe Leader.
"Ice King, you finally came," the Black Robe Leader said, as if waiting for Alan.
"I can lead you to attack the city now," Alan said indifferently.
The Black Robe Leader's eyes lit up with excitement. He said, "Good, I'll gather the army right away."
"I have a request," Alan said.
"What request?" the Black Robe Leader asked.
"I want your disguise robe," Alan replied.
The Black Robe Leader frowned. He remarked, "That wasn't part of the original deal."
"I can't reveal my identity. Your disguise robe is the best choice," Alan explained.
The Black Robe Leader chuckled. He teased, "You're kidding. Your damage is unmatched among adventurers. With or without the disguise robe, you'll be exposed."
Alan smiled calmly. He rebutted, "The higher-ups might know, but ordinary folks might not. Besides, I'm just giving them a chance to accept it. I need to clear my name later."
The Black Robe Leader squinted, staring at Alan. He seemed to have guessed something. He said, "You don't want to be crowned the War God of Stellaria, do you?"
"Help us establish a regime, get my reward, and then help Stellaria deal with us. By then, you can also get Stellaria's reward." The Black Robe Leader sneered. "Ice King, you really know how to play the game, using our Demon Lair men as pawns for your rewards?!"
Alan touched his nose, and asked, "Am I really that despicable in your eyes?"
"Yes," the Black Robe Leader answered bluntly.
Alan was amused. He hadn't done anything outrageous, so why was he being targeted like this?
"Stellaria is just my starting point. There's a vast world beyond. I won't waste too much energy here," Alan said.
The Black Robe Leader sneered, "But I know you don't mind getting as many benefits as you possibly could from here."
Alan shrugged in disagreement. He replied, "We're partners now. Don't doubt me without reason."
The Black Robe Leader said, "Fine, as long as you're willing to add a little more to the quest scroll, I can trust you unconditionally."
Alan frowned. He retorted, "Black Robe, you're pushing it."
The Black Robe Leader said, "It's just that you're really hard to trust completely."
Alan raised an eyebrow. He asked, "What else do you want to add?"
"Kill King Rex," the Black Robe Leader stated as he stared at Alan.
Alan thought to himself, 'That's my mission!'
But he blurted out, "You're dreaming! Do you think King Rex is someone so easy to kill?"
The Black Robe Leader chuckled. He insisted, "Besides that, it's really hard for me to trust you."
After pretending to ponder, Alan slowly said, "Alright, but..."
"But what?" The Black Robe Leader asked.
"Add more money!" Alan replied.
The Black Robe Leader laughed heartily. He remarked, "Fine, as long as you're willing to add that condition, I can give you more money."
"Killing King Rex is no small task. The reward you offer must match the mission," Alan said.
The Black Robe Leader nodded in agreement. He flipped his hand, and a golden leaf appeared in his palm.
Alan frowned. He asked, "What is this?"
He didn't recognize it. After all, Ragnarok had too many items, and he didn't know much about them.
"A leaf from the Tree of Knowledge," the Black Robe Leader replied.
The Tree of Knowledge!
Alan's pupils contracted sharply. He remarked, "Isn't that a legendary item?"
Alan had heard of it, but even in his previous life, it was just a legend.
"Yes, it is indeed a legendary item. There's none in all of Stellaria, and this one, I brought from the Vast Empire's sacred land," the Black Robe Leader replied.
Alan was shocked and instinctively asked, "Are you from the Palace of Infinity?"
