If you got hit for a thousand damage, a crit would make it two thousand. But with that 40% reduction, it knocked off 800, so you'd only take 1,200.
Basically, it only bumped up the damage by 20%.
This was different from the Purification Jade Pendant, but Alan thought they were kinda similar.
Honestly, Alan had always thought the Purification Jade Pendant might be a bit too OP.
Its main thing was cutting control and negative effects by 80%, which was pretty strong.
"Hey Sea God, check this out. Do you know what it is?" Alan asked.
The Sea God took the Purification Jade Pendant and gave it a good look.
"This looks like a piece of a divine artifact that's lost all its divinity."
Just as he thought, Alan's breathing got a bit heavy.
Could he fix the Purification Jade Pendant and get it back to its prime?
"Can it be repaired?" Alan asked without thinking.
The Sea God shook his head.
"This thing's lost all its divinity; I can't fix it."
"What if we find other pieces?" Alan asked.
The Sea God still shook his head. "Losing its divinity means it's lost its original divine power."
"This pendant's stats might still be on par with a divine artifact, but to us gods, it's just junk."
Alan asked, "Because this Purification Jade Pendant can't block divine power attacks, right?"
Alan had noticed that before.
The Purification Jade Pendant couldn't stop control and negative effects with divine power.
The Sea God said, "Yeah, if this pendant tries to block, even if it looks indestructible, divine power will still break it."
Alan gave a wry smile; he had oversimplified things.
The Sea God wasn't done. "Not just that, but even the control and negative effects of laws don't work on this pendant. It only works against basic control and negative effects."
This made Alan feel pretty hopeless.
The Sea God said, "But I can sense this thing has great potential. If it keeps getting enhanced, it might become a divine artifact again someday."
Alan felt a bit helpless.
Sea God's words sounded like he was just trying to make him feel better.
"Is there really no way to fix this pendant?" Alan was still a bit stubborn.
"There is a way."
Sea God gave a clear answer, "Divine artifacts can usually only be made by divine-level blacksmiths. You just need to find the divine-level blacksmith who made this pendant and gather its other pieces; then it might be fixable."

Now that Alan had it, he naturally completed the quest.
Even though Alan had already knocked out the blessing quests for the ten gods of the Jinse Empire, he still wanted more divine blessings.

Alan felt a bit let down.
200,000 MP would only keep the God-Slaying Sword Formation going for two more seconds, which wasn't much help.
The 500 mana per second regen was great for most mages, but against the 100,000 MP per second drain of the God-Slaying Sword Formation, it was a drop in the bucket.
"Got any tricks that need a ton of MP?" Sea God noticed something off in Alan's expression.
Alan said, "Yeah, 100,000 per second."
"Fuck!" Sea God couldn't help but curse. "Aren't you just at the first job change? How do you have something like that?"
Alan said, "It's complicated, but can you help me out?"
Sea God thought for a moment. "I can help you recover MP, but because of Ragnarok's rules, I can't use too much power. I can help you get back 50,000 MP per second, max."
"That works." Alan nodded.
He had 100,000 free attribute points, which could boost his MP by 500,000 if he used them all.
Adding that to his current 120,000 and the shell pendant's boost, he'd have 820,000 MP.
With a 100,000 MP drain and a 50,000 MP regen, Alan could keep the God-Slaying Sword Formation going for 15.5 seconds.
That should be enough time.
It wasn't Alan's fault for not having the exact numbers down. In all his lives, he'd never gotten his hands on such a powerful killing tool!
